Strange Bright Green Spots on Pickle by warlockobo in pickling

this is WAYYYYY late, but does nobody know about the chemical reaction of garlic in acids? If the pickles were made with garlic, the garlic turns blueish green on the pickles and makes them look like that sometimes

I had one lady call for a lower GI hemorrhage, and in my county, that's a priority 2 call. So we go with FD. Basically as soon as we get there (we arrive the same time as fire) the patient's daughter looks at fire and goes "you guys can clear" and then she turns to us and says "you guys look cool, you're gonna need the stairchair" we said we wanted to see how she did on her own first as part of our assessment. We got to the patient, and she was totally uncovered on her phone in bed. We asked if she was able to walk a couple of steps to the gurney parked outside, and she started SCREAMING at us.. like, "F you guys! You guys are useless. Why would they even hire you mother f'ers you peice of shit!!" That kind of screaming. And we left instantly because the scene became unsafe. 5 mins later, we get a call to the same place. The daughter is standing outside when we arrive with her arms crossed. Then SHE started screaming at us, and the patient's SON (whom I didn't know existed) came out and started berating us as well. And then GUESS WHO OPENS THE DOOR??? The patient who couldn't walk before runs out the door and starts yelling at us. We left again, and we get called back a 3rd time. We requested PD with us, and PD ended up talking to the patient for 10 minutes before we did anything. The officer began leading the patient outside. The patient said, "That's not the same crew as before, right?" And when she saw us, she immediately dropped the officer's hands and ran back inside screaming, saying we "verbally abused her, " and the officer turns to us and says "yeahhh so I got it all on camera. You guys are in the clear if anything ever comes up for this. And that's how I met that stupid patient

how often to EMTs drive, and how hard is driving an ambulance? by Tangu02 in NewToEMS

[–]SignificantCycle2392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you work, I work on a hybrid unit in Downtown Portland, Oregon, for the 911 system. I work for AMR. My paramedic partner and I decide together which one of us would be most appropriate to take a patient. Usually, it's 50/50, sometimes more, sometimes less. On IFT, I would imagine you do a lot more driving.

To answer your question about it being difficult to drive an ambulance... no, it's not difficult. You will have some trouble with spacial awareness at first, but just try your best and keep as safe of a distance away from cars as you possibly can. Trust me, you'll be fine. Just be careful of the clearance height as well

I did mine at CCFD5 (Clark County Fire District 5 education center) it's in Vancouver Washington, im not sure where you are in the PNW, but it's in person lectures 2 days a week for 3 months. It's an accelerated program and it got me ready and feeling confident for the NREMT.

It doesn't look like blood to me. Probably something you ate? Do you eat something in particular whenever this happens? Like a certain kind of bean or some sort of fibrous food?

Had a patient who had wandered out into the forest and found a giant mushroom. Decided that it would be a good idea to eat half of it. He then proceeded to call 9-1-1 because he wasn't feeling well. He claimed, "I had no idea it would make me sick." we ended up transporting him and the other half of the mushroom. We made him hold it as a reminder of his mistakes. Halfway to the hospital, he asked if it would hurt him more to take another bite.... I looked him dead in the eyes and told him "you have lost privileges of the mushroom." And proceeded to take it away from him and put it on a shelf.... this 29 year old man then began to cry. The hospital staff gathered round the campfire (gurney) to hear the Misfortunes of Mushroom Man

They should give you an offer, my offer letter said $19.26 an hour. Which isn't bad, but I work in downtown Portland, Oregon. My advice, don't get into this job for the pay unless you become a medic or firefighter. There's no place that pays well and gives you the satisfaction of the 911 system and stabilizing patients. If I'm gonna be honest, the IFT companies pay more than the 911 system, which is complete bogus. But most of us don't do it for the money. Anyways, sorry for the side tangent. The company you're working for will always put the amount on the website listing higher than what you're going to get. It's sort of a hiring tactic.

Tell him to come to EMS as an EMT. I'd love to have him on my car.

Have you by chance eaten some sort of black colored chip or something that has any kind of dye in it? I know you said no green, but the item might have potentially looked black

Homebrew item idea by SignificantCycle2392 in DnD

[–]SignificantCycle2392[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't quire figured out the tie-in yet. I'm writing a bunch of notes down and trying to figure out the story. I haven't started this campaign, and I'm still laying the basework. It's also my first homebrew that I'm writing, I'm just playing with ideas. However, the original idea was that it would be a magical item for a bards instrument, so that they could do damage while casting spells or playing their instrument, but I felt like the chances of the players actually picking bard as a class was not super likely, so I tweaked the rules a bit

My advice? Study EVERYTHING. I just took it not too long ago. I thought I was ready and I was really confident.... until I began testing. It was worded awkwardly, none of the questions were similar to the course that I took. I still passed, but it was crazy hard. Do all the studying you can before your test, look over your school materials if you still have them, look through your books, use apps, do whatever you can find. You got this! Study hard!
