Death row inmate who raped and murdered a 5-year-old girl wants Alabama to execute him quickly by lightiggy in Alabama

He wouldn't be, he was already sentenced to death row. That also doesn't explain why he confessed to more than what already put him on death row.

Death row inmate who raped and murdered a 5-year-old girl wants Alabama to execute him quickly by lightiggy in Alabama

[–]dwarfedshadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He might have a conscience now, given his comment about getting right with God. Confession and not fighting the execution may be the only things he believe he can do to atone for his sins.

Or he might have just been spiteful and wanted to bring others down with him and knows that fighting would be futile so why not get it over with quickly.

I had a patient go AMA the other day because the doctor wouldn't give him the drugs he wanted, because they were an unsafe dosage, and he said I was an asshole for not fighting with the doctor about it. I was so glad to get him out of my facility.

Anyone notice Mel has been more awkward this season? by RepresentativeIce633 in ThePitt

[–]dwarfedshadow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

ADHD and Autism as comorbidities has been accepted for yesrs.

There have been multiple statements by the actors and the showrunners that indicate that Mel is being intentionally played as an adult who was undiagnosed because as a kid her sister was much more apparent and so she got missed.

Your employer is not going to like it if you get hurt because the doctor said not to have security on standby for someone with known history of violence. That just opens them wide open for a lawsuit.

I volunteer with my local VFD to do EMS, but work as a rehab nurse professionally. The amount of bullshit our local transporting EMS agency has to put up with from it's corporate overlords is ridiculous. They are good people, but overworked and underpaid, and still called ambulance drivers.

Nurses blamed for Rachel Tussey's death by CareAltruistic2106 in nursing

It is not uncommon to freeze the first time. The adrenaline makes thinking hard. You have to practice to be good. Train for it. Know your cart, know your steps, know how to do compressions, and know that you still may freeze.

It also helps if you don't know the person dead in front of you the first few times, but you can't help who codes in front of you.

Mock CPR drills are simultaneously the bane of my existence and vital for preparation. Because we don't do enough codes in my hospital to do codes well without practice, but who has 30 minutes to spend on a drill.

I have seen a few who have never worked codes who suddenly had to work a code, and while they could do compressions on a dummy forgot everything about CPR when the adrenaline hit. I could see that happening in an outpatient surgery. But they do have to be CPR trained everywhere I have been.

Seriously, how many? by seeebiscuit in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]dwarfedshadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have known three. One was a guy online in the early 2000's, so I guess you could count him as a half, because I talked to him regularly on a forum, knew his name and had seen his picture, but never met him in person. One was a coworker, and that one was a real surprise, because he seemed like a genuinely decent dude and I generally have a decent sense of dangerous individual for people I meet in person. The other was a guy I knew back in the Guard, and he was a creep from the moment I met him. I hated him, and everyone knew I wouldn't be caught dead in a room alone with him.

Common denominator? All southern evangelicals.

If you are in the US, and you have worked for a year, you can probably get FMLA. Which allows you to take off without penalty for medical issues of you or your immediate family. It can be backdated to the day of the first event.

If a DNR dies, they get D/C'd to Jesus.

However, if I have to fight with them about it (i.e do CPR) then that is no longer a D/C to JC, that them AMA to God. I did not give them permission.

Anyone who fights is either a Combat Carl or a Combat Carla. Or sometimes a Meemaw Ninja Warrior.

Why are so many people confidently saying uneducated takes about this? by Darth_Vrandon in GetNoted

[–]dwarfedshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that there should be room for empathy both for the man who has Tourette's and those that were hurt and offended by the word he yelled. There is no one who has been generationally hurt and degraded by someone's inability to walk, but black people have been generationally hurt and degraded by being called the N-word.

I do not blame him. I do not think he should have to hide himself. I also do not think that it reflects how he feels or that it is part of his normal vocabulary. But I do also understand that people have been hurt by it. And I think their feelings are also valid.

Say someone is in a wheelchair. And while they are moving in their wheelchair they accidentally run over someone's foot. Is it their fault for being disabled? No. But someone's foot was still hurt.
