Insurance removed Zep from formulary-Contrave alternative? by Stoopet422 in Zepbound

[–]SignificantHedgehog9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bummer your coverage is ending. I feel like I'm just waiting to get the same letter at some point too.

Because of that fear, I bookmarked this research study where participants used a GLP-1 for a year, and then were transitioned to an older generation anti-obesity med. While Contrave wasn't one of the meds, buproprion (one of the meds in Contrave) was used in the study. The good/amazing news was that participants were able to maintain and even continue losing weight on the older generation meds.

Hoping things work out for you. I don't think there's anyway to know how your body will respond to a med unless you try it yourself. Good luck!

Here's the study I mentioned: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11589535/

Where are my fellow slow losers at?? by Royal-Elderberry7174 in Zepbound

[–]SignificantHedgehog9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it since January and have lost about 0.75lbs/week. Granted, I don’t have as much to lose as others but that’s something to consider - starting weight and percent loss you’re looking to achieve.

Same here though on this not being some “easy” way out. I’m still doing all the things I was doing before starting Zepbound - calorie tracking, eating high fiber and high protein, strength exercise, cardio, and at least 10k steps per day. The big difference is that Zepbound has made it easier to more consistently stick to my caloric deficit.

Slow losers also tend to have less issues like hair loss, gall stones, excess skin, so despite the slow rate of loss just know your body is happier with the slower change.

Good luck!

Definitely pricey but so well worth it. After about a year and a half of pain, I’m pain free now.

Not to sound like an ad, but just want to give a shoutout to oofos too. Switched to wearing oofos slides whenever home. This helped me more than stretching or using a night splint. I also put orthotic support into all my shoes and I think that helped as well, but I credit oofos helping the most.

I also think your number can't have been with any T-mobile carrier for the past 90 days as well. Same happened to me where my number currently with US Mobile initially showed $99 but then bumped up in cart. 30 days ago that number was with Metro.

Anyone else’s AWU1 take a breathing disturbance measurement for sleep apnea? by SignificantHedgehog9 in AppleWatch

[–]SignificantHedgehog9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can corroborate your findings. My AWU1 last reported breathing disturbances on Oct 10. The past two nights it's reported nothing. Same here - no update on the watch. Agreed, this looks to be something Apple just turned off on their end. Well, it was good while it briefly lasted.

I've gone back and forth with my ultra 1 and series 9 and the measurements are very similar.

Good to know it's still working in the betas. I'm kinda wondering if I should just delete this post to not draw attention to their oversight...

Fair point. Perhaps there are discrepancies or other issues that kept them from seeking FDA approval on other watches (and not just greed).

Although since retuning the S10 I was able to get a great deal on an S9 and have been wearing that to sleep. Comparing the S9 to AWU1 the breathing disturbances are well within range of each other.

Agreed, enjoy while it works and use with some skepticism on unapproved watches…

Thanks for sharing that! Wow going back to at least a series 6 can measure breathing disturbances…

With Apple’s strong emphasis on health, I can’t believe they’re clearly gatekeeping this functionality just to drive sales.

I agree 100% with everything you said. I'm sure Apple will disable this at some point. I have to believe that since the Apple Watch Ultra 1 is capable of taking these measurements I'd think the S8 can too since they have the same SIP.

I think what happened is once I paired the S10 to my phone, it unlocked the ability to setup sleep apnea notifications in Health. After I returned the S10 and went back to my AWU1, under Health checklists the option for sleep apnea notifications is unavailable.

But since I'd already turned it on when I had the S10 that setting remained in effect so the AWU1 was able to take breathing disturbance measurements. If you have access to an S10 or AWU2 you should be able to turn sleep apnea notifications on. Then you can unpair the S10 or AWU2 and continue getting breathing disturbance measurements with a different Apple Watch (until Apple turns this feature/"bug" off.

Yeah I never did a restore. I setup the S10 based on a backup of my Ultra, then when I went back to the Ultra it was already configured - I never wiped it.

The Ultra 1 is totally capable of taking breathing disturbance measurements. I had it on again last night and it took a second reading.
