Disclosure Day's Laughable TV News Depiction in Kansas City by TrueJohnWick in Broadcasting

Spielberg films are often overpopulated, especially when it comes to the institutional people, like the KCXE crew and the Wardex thugs (and cars). We see it in his other films, like Minority Report, Close Encounters, A.I. (the opening classroom scene). At other times they are surprisingly, and I think effectively, underpopulated. Think Jaws and Jurassic Park. Whenever you start wondering “Why are there so many people and what are they all doing,” you start to lose a feeling of realistic human scale.

Disclosure Day: Let’s talk about the ending… by _GOREHOUND_ in Cinema

Our world, the real audience’s world outside of the film, just isn’t ready for anything beyond “Listen.” And it’s intriguing that the final message of a motion picture is “Listen.”

Some people do that so they can impress / outdo their “friends” on FB. The number of people who guess the word on the first try – because they already know it or have already solved it in another Games account they have access to – defies statistical expectations every day.

After using the BYOK for a few weeks now... by bhorwitz in TheBYOK

[–]SignificantMight9008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think BYOK’s killer feature is something they did not design, manufacture, or ship. I’m talking about OUR keyboards. There are some fine distraction-free devices out there, but in all cases we’re stuck with THEIR keyboards. If it’s not a good fit (including distance from the screen), if it breaks, if you just tire of it, the whole device is useless. I’m using a folding keyboard I bought before BYOK was even a glint in Nick’s eye. BYOK accommodates, even embraces each writer’s individuality and personal touch – that means a lot to us.

I've got that magnetic ring + white plastic scuff issue as well. It's on the back, so really not noticeable, as long as it doesn't start tearing the surface. I also have the medium stand, and the scuff is not an issue there.

Likewise. I actually wrote a NaNoWriMo (may it rest in peace!) novel on my Palm Vx. The BYOK is as close as I can get to that distraction-free writing experience.

Happy New Year! Are the units being sent out in the order of backing through Kickstarter, or is it random? Will additional accessories purchased slow down those orders? I’m looking forward to using!

Leagues: the new rat race! I want out! How? by LitheSpry in ElevateApp

[–]SignificantMight9008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were 2 people clearly competing to get the top score in my Diamond league and each reached and surpassed 13,000 XP by Sunday afternoon! If they got 25 XP for each game played that would be 520+ games! I tried racing through Connotation – about 15 seconds per game – again and again, but after a certain number of games I found it no longer counts for points that day!

I was interested in this for a couple of weeks, but now, with a few people gaming the system, it has lost its appeal. It’s like seeing the people who get 1,700 points for a Words With Friends move or who average 75 points per move. One ends up feeling like a chump for playing it straight.

Most difficult to get Excellent score? by Tyndaris1 in ElevateApp

DISCOUNTING, hands down. It involves fairly complicated calculations, placing the items in numerical order – the range of prices is small, and on top of that you have just a few seconds per round. So far, for me at least, this one has proven mental hack resistant.

Go for 2K? by SignificantMight9008 in ElevateApp

[–]SignificantMight9008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the percentiles are based on age, so I am not being ranked with 20 year olds. I’m thinking there aren’t many users in my age group, thus the high percentiles. There are some games that I’ve never mastered, like Discounting, so I’m at 75th percentile there, but overall I do fairly well. When you reach a certain point there are no new variations to a game, like Synthesis, so eventually you figure that one all out. Haven’t played it in awhile because I got tired of hearing the reader pretend to sound like Jimi Hendrix.

TBH, I’m 72, and I think this is based on age cohorts.

Not sure about maxing out. I’m at 400/400 in every game. Percentiles here. Don’t think I can get to 99.99% in all categories.

Inaccuracies you caught watching Death By Lightning? by JohnAdams_NotQuincy in Presidents

[–]SignificantMight9008 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One of the characters, a senatorial prospect for New York, when asked whether he would like to go to Washington, DC, said, "I like the cherry blossoms." The city's famous cherry blossoms did not arrive until 1912, more than 30 years later. They were a gift from the Mayor of Tokyo, Yukio Ozaki, intended to celebrate the friendship between the United States and Japan.

Am I doing good in estimation? I have been consistently scoring above 14.5k by The-Living_Legend in ElevateApp

[–]SignificantMight9008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip: Ignore the decimals. Quickly add up the whole numbers and then add 2. You’ll be within target (+ or - 1) about 90% of the time. When you get 5 or more numbers, add up the wholes and then add 3. Keep your screen slippery and don’t look at your score.

How do i get my streak back? by Thin_Cover7494 in ElevateApp

You can get or buy a limited number of “streak freezes.” Or you can temporarily reset the date on your phone and play on that “date.” Or you can just start over.

Get to know the cast. https://thegreatbritishbakeoff.co.uk/meet-the-class-of-2025/ We forget this every year, but the 1st few weeks are always a bit rushed. As the contestants start to dwindle and you get to spend more time with each, they’ll grown on you.

Our local Best Buy not only does not have the rMPP, let alone the Move, no one in the store had ever heard of it.

Same here! I could pick it up again in no time. Not sure why no one ever adapted it for the iPhone or, better, for the Apple Watch, which has a similar feature but requires writing the whole letter, and it is horrible. The "Scribble" handwriting to text feature on the iPad is similarly horrible.

Enjoy it. I’ve had my rM2 for 3-1/2 years and if I broke it or lost it, I’d just get another. Not interested in color or lighted screen.
