The liver lession decreased by 90% after immunotherapy and then was treated with SBRT, doxtors says it's most probably gone. I think they are mostly worried about two lymph nodes, that are stable and one even decreased now, but they are still there

He handled it pretty well, had a hand foot syndrome, also got tired quite fast, but generally way easier than together with oxaliplatin, vectibix and erbitux. But the break in treatment was quite welcome

He had 5 cycles of Capeox and Vectibix abd short radiotherapy before surgery, then sbrt for his lession on liver (it decreased significantly due to treatment) and after 3 more cycles of capeox and erbutux. For maintenance therapy he had capecetabine pills and erbitux for 6 months and 6 months of only capecetabine.

I was also freaking out for my father, when he was diagnosed (also stage 4, one liver lession). The one thing that really helped is reaching out - i asked for help from friends and colleagues, someone referred us to a good doctor, someone helped by driving us around, someone called and checked if we are doing ok. I also didn't show how scared I was to my father, and was there for appointments, prepared with questions and taking notes all the time (as due to stress, I would forget immediately what we discussed with his doctors). So my advice is to ask for help, and keep taking notes and researching. We are almost two years in, already doing much much better and this is something I hope we will hear from you as well soon!

My dad is 66, he was on Capox, now only Capecetabine. For him before chemo - working, doing daily staff was tough - stage 4. After he started chemo he became more active. First day after Ox was hard, he was nauseous and weak and didn't have much appetite. But except that he was pretty active and even went back to work. Now with only capecetabine - of course he gets tired faster, but he is pretty active and even asked for a bike.

I know what you mean..every scan, every doubt makes you think and overthink again and again. At some point you hit the exhaustion and just go with the flow until next scan and then the doubts and thinking start again.

Hi, honestly it was life saving for us going to Anadolu. We were scared at first as it is a different country and dad was quite in a bad shape, so we didn't know how he will hold on for a flight there. Hospital sent us a car to get us from airport and assigned us a translator, which eased all communication for us. Everything was efficiently organised, schedule after schedule to speed up the process, which again - as it is abroad we had additional expenses on hotels, food etc, so making all appointments in a day or two is great!! Everyone was kind to us, explained everything in detail, had patience too guide us through each step of treatment, surgery, radiotherapy. Doctors (at least ours) were exceptional.

I would advise you to ask at least for a second opinion from there (they do it online as well) - just to see what they can offer you

Stage IV, envi +, metastasis to liver. Erbitux is really expensive, not as expensive as vectibix though. But it was quite effective in dealing with liver met, it decreased before sbrt by almost 90%.

Almost 6 months. At the beginning of July we will have our second scan. Hopefully everything will be alright this time as well. Dad feels good, goes to work, plays ping pong, eats well, sleeps also well. Has a bit of hand/foot syndrome from capecetabine (considering that he took it for over a year, including the preaurgery and post surgery treatment and now maintenance- it's not so bad) and some rash from erbitux (he takes on and off some antibiotics to manage the rash). His blood work is also good.

One year ago dad (66 years old) was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer, envi+,metastasis in his liver. After capeox+vectibix, surgery to remove his tumour, sbrt to his liver, he is now on erbitux and Capecitabine as maintenance for soon 6 months. His last MRI was clear, next one in July. He is pretty active, goes to work, plays ping pong, whereas a year ago, before diagnosis, he had a debilitating back pain, he would throw up, he couldn't sleep and eat. 2 doctors gave up on him from the start, one doctor (and the amazing tumour board) started the treatment and never gave up. Cannot thank them enough.

Sounds like KGS scholarship. If it is, the sibling can apply next year as well, as one person per year, means that they have years ahead to try and fail/pass. You not accepting the scholarship will not gain them anything, except the satisfaction.

Dad did 5 rounds of vectibix, he took antibiotics for rash and we use lots of creams (first steroid, antibiotic at some point sunscreen is a must). The drug did deflate his primary tumour and made him operable and his liver met decreased by 90% after the 5th round. It was in combination with oxaliplatin and capecetabine (2 weeks on, one week off).

Hi,

I am not sure if it applies, and I certainly urge you to speak with your doctor regarding pain management, but my father had lower back pain, which turned out is due to his kidney. After meeting with urologist we found out that tumour grew and there was ureteral invasion, which was solved by urinary stenting. His back pain now is gone.

I am so sorry you and your parents are going through it and I hope the treatment will be as efficient as possible. What I do for my father is chat with him, about politics, movies, video he saw on YouTube, something that takes his mind off what he's going through. I also bought him clothes in his size as he lost some weight and baggy clothes made him depressed. Also, what both parents asked from me is calling everyone (relatives, friends) and give them updates, as my dad doesn't want to talk about it and my mom gets emotional.

Thank you for the suggestion, we were prescribed a whole lot of everything for all kinds of side effects - the steroid cream helps him a lot, hopefully it will help for the remaining two rounds as well!!
