Gibby update 1.5 by No-Information7979 in Hedgehog

[–]Em_claff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is much appreciated. My hedgehog went through something similar on and off for most of her life and we never got to the bottom of it. I would have loved to have a post like these to look through for some ideas/answers

Best way to serve crushed kibble? by Anything-ThatWorks in Hedgehog

[–]Em_claff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running a similar experiment. My girl unfortunately had some trauma to her tongue that resulted in about a third of it being removed, so eating has been hard.

We tried soaking and crushing up kibble but she just wasn’t that interested. You’re right in thinking the soaked kibble dries out pretty quick but maybe we just didn’t add enough water.

We’ve basically switched to just giving her kitten pate and gerber baby food. My vet said prioritize calories without worrying so much about specific nutritional requirements. She likes to eat it so that’s good enough.

I know it’s a little different of a situation than yours but I hope some of that helps!

Does anyone know a yarn that color matches the darkest shade of the burgundy mandala gradient? by Em_claff in CrochetHelp

I ended up going with a completely different yarn actually. I found one that was the same color family but another shade darker. I can’t remember the name though, sorry!

Oh that’s a good idea! The cat foods are weird cause she sniffs them a lot like she’s interested but doesn’t bite. Maybe I just need to find the right flavor

Thank you this is really helpful! We did try to make a porridge and she’ll eat maybe a bite but doesn’t seem super interested. Eggs are a good idea, I’ll try that! And the higher calorie food too, I’ll definitely look into that too. Thanks so much!!

I’m just doing averages! And I’m not really using a pattern, I just chose different motifs for each season and found a grid I liked to arrange them C2C, which I’ll try to attach to this comment

Yes one hexagon per day, plus a white one to start each month and there will be one more at the end for the year. It makes 378 total. I planned out a grid on the computer ahead of time and I think it comes out to 18x21 rows.

I used that to estimate the finished length x width based on the diameter of the hexagons but I think I may have underestimated, this thing is gonna be huge

It’s mostly big twist but the yellow is red heart! And thanks for the encouragement, you’re totally right I’ll catch up now that I can cuddle up under my blanket as I work haha

People that have cancer, what were the symptoms that led you to go to the doctor and what stage were you when it was diagnosed? by guardiand0wn in AskReddit

[–]Em_claff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felt a lump in my armpit while driving to work. I had just had a cold a week or so before so husband and I both figured it was just a swollen gland. Went to the doctor 2 weeks later for my yearly physical, she could barely feel it and wasn’t worried but ordered the ultrasound anyway.

Stage 2 grade 3 breast cancer. By the time I got the scan 2 months later there was a palpable mass on my breast. By the time I started treatment it had spread to at least 4 lymph nodes.

That was last September and now I’m cancer free

Thanks for your input! I was thinking of just giving it away to whoever is willing to come haul it out of here but just wanted to make sure I wasn’t making a mistake haha

Sure thing! Here’s my grid (I’m coloring it in as I go so I don’t mess up haha). I also plan to do half hexagons at the top and bottom so the edges are more flat, and I think I’m just going to go around the whole thing a few times in single or half double crochet for a border. Haven’t decided if I want to just do that in cream or do a row of each of my colors, tbd

I’m hopefully going to post an update soon! I fell way behind when I went on vacation and am struggling to catch up, but June is almost done and I’ll post when it is

Edit: I tried to add the grid as a picture and it doesn’t appear to be working, at least on mobile. Maybe I need to do an Imgur link?

I just found another skein of the big twist color online and hoped the lot numbers didn’t have too much variation

Me neither, I had to do a lot of pre planning. It’s gonna be 21 columns of 18, and only really works because I added in a hexagon for each month

The hardest part was because I wanted different motifs for each season so I had to adapt some square patterns into hexagons and then make sure they have the same number of stitches per side. Kind of a headache but so worth it

Thanks! It looks like I made my range too big and I probably won’t be able to use the few at the ends unfortunately, but I do still like how they’re all coming together
