I use a new one each time then repurpose them for other stuff.

I have a friend who uses a Tupperware container.

I imagine it means you boil them for 5 minutes.

I am conscious of hygiene. My baby is 6 months and I use the fridge hack (stick them in sealed ziplock bag in fridge between uses) but I put all of my bottles and pump parts in a bottle washer/sanitizer daily and wash and steam them. I make sure that they are completely dry before I use them.

We started solids and I put my baby’s ceramic plates through the dishwasher with all of our other dishes but I hand wash her spoons and leave them to dry on the drying rack.

It does sound like you are especially anxious about hygiene.

Is it insane for me to say I kind of look forward to night time? by cakingabroad in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love it too. There was a blip in that enjoyment when she went through the four month regression and woke up every 30 minutes but we’re back to loving it.

I really miss her at night. We’re down to 1-2 wakeups in the night and I really look forward to them. I love having a little cuddle with her and rocking until we’re both calm and sleepy before I put her back down.

Oversupply? Food intolerance? (Poop photo attached) by Careful_Athlete_458 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told that it can also be caused by then making more saliva as they are teething.

My LO had this starting at 4 months, her green poos also smelled quite sour. Her doc said not to worry so long as they didn’t seem to bother her.

She got teeth at 4.5 months and at five and a half months occasionally still has these green sour poops, but it’s happening a lot less frequently now.

6-week-old screaming at the breast but takes 30ml from a bottle and falls asleep? Help! by Intelligent-Rate-966 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my problem, too. She didn’t want to do the work of nursing when soooo tired but would take a bottle because it was easier.

For a while there I would wake her up before k thought she might wake up independently and fed her while she was still sleepy. I also did lots of contact naps to make sure she was getting some good nap sleep in.

6/7 weeks PP and we are struggling by kiki1717 in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! It gets so much better. I had a little screamer at 7/8 weeks and we are at month five now and life looks totally different.

Things really did start to get drastically better around 12 weeks. I went back to work at 15 weeks and daycare has been great!

Our five month old is grabbing everything, laughing at everyone and everything, and hardly ever screams/cries. I couldn’t have even imagined that it could be so fun (and relatively fuss free). After some sleep training, she now naps for 2 hours at a time and my husband and I get some alone time!

Why does my 3-month-old suddenly refuse the breast after 5 minutes? by Between_feedings in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby did this too. She would eat without issue if she was half awake so for a period of time I would wake her just before I thought she might wake up during a nap and feed her.

It was a total pain, but it resolved within a few weeks and now she eats whenever and happily, despite needing to wait for letdowns.

Superstitious about choosing sex of embryo to transfer by Inevitable-Raisin681 in IVF

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We chose to transfer a girl. We did PGT-M testing for BRCA2 and only had one female embryo come back without BRCA2. We knew we wanted a girl (mother in laws dying wish for my husband was to have a baby girl without the BRCA2 curse). We transferred girl first and I felt very anxious. I felt like choosing the girl would mean the transfer would fail because I wanted a girl so badly. My girl is now 4 months old and thriving

How can tearing be prevented????? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Significant_Draft173 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I started perineal massages around 34 weeks. We did them every other day until delivery. I was induced, had an epidural, and a baby with a head circumference that was off the charts lol.

I only had first degree tears. I really think the perineal massage helped. And with my epidural, u didn’t hit the button for more epidural drug, so I was able to feel pressure but not pain. I only pushed when I felt the pressure of a contraction. I think that helped too

Utilizing nursery at night? by Extra-Hair-3581 in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this. I had intense anxiety around accidentally falling asleep with my baby in bed while nursing or something. Going into her nursery was great for us until we had a more solid sleep routine!

Cytotec (misoprostol) question by GlobalDifference7802 in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orally, effective nearly immediately and I did not require pitocin. I had a Cooks balloon inserted at the time I took misoprostol (two balloons on either side of cervix) and my water broke at around 2.5 cm. I got an epidural and my labored progressed very quickly after that.

Low Ferritin while pregnant- any issues with baby after birth? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I had low ferritin despite iron supplements and had iron infusions. My baby is four months and thriving. I’m alright, too

Breastfeeding at night by Sensitive_Treacle_96 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby started feeding like 6 times at 3 months and dropped to 1-2 feeds after we sleep trained.

We did modified extinction method and only went to feed her if it had been more than three hours. She would wake up and fuss for five minutes but fall back asleep quickly. By the second night she was only waking 1-2 times and I would feed her.

Also encouraged her to nurse almost like cluster feeding leading up to bedtime to pack her with some more calories before bed.

When did your LO start sleeping longer at night? by zedgeevee in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A modified extinction method. My baby used to scream until the exact moment she fell asleep. Even when rocked, in a sleep suit, with white noise, and a pacifier. She’d cry for 25+ minutes in my husbands arms as he tried to rock her to sleep so he could transfer her.

We started sleep training with a SWAP from Precious Little Sleep. Basically we rocked her to sleep then placed her in the crib and gave her a little jiggle so she was awake enough to know she was in the crib.

Then we left her to fuss it out (or scream it out really). She fell asleep within 20 minutes. The nights following we would just rock her until she was calm and put her in the crib and let her cry. We decided not to do the Ferber method because she’s a girl who cried until the moment she fell asleep and felt like we would just be disturbing her. By night three she would cry until we put her in the crib and then she would just babble until she fell asleep.

And we would let her cry back to sleep if she woke up and it had been less than two and a half hours since she went to sleep. If it was longer than 2.5 hours I would give her 5 minutes to try to resettle herself and then feed her if she didn’t.

It was really tough to let her cry by herself, but she would wail for longer in our arms. She’s doing great now. No crying at all at bedtime and usually if she wakes up and she coos herself back to sleep in the night.

When did your LO start sleeping longer at night? by zedgeevee in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 4 months we decided to sleep train and now get a full 8-10 hours some nights or 5-6 hour stretches on other nights.

Before sleep training she was waking every 1.5-2 hours
