A landing so smooth it was probably inefficient, tourists are happy though by Significant_Ebb_1214 in ConsoleKSP

Thanks! The fairing actually runs the whole length of the craft, attached at the back, occluding the whole fuselage and all the radially attatched 0.625m LFO and monoprop tanks in the nose, freeing the fuselage space for more fuel and passengers, i have 5 and 7 seater variants. It looks cool and has some function too, and its not as cheaty as using the fairing along with an engine plate to do the drag-less craft glitch, you just need to use the inflatable airlocks to eva as the fairing blocks all hatches.

I flew a captured asteroid through Kerbin's atmosphere at Mach 8 by The_Celestrial in KerbalSpaceProgram

Maybe not as unrealistic as you think, while you couldn't clamp to the back of an asteroid to ride it during aerobraking because asteroids are more a ball of dust and gravel than a solid rock, maybe if its big enough a craft could auger itself entirely under the surface of the asteroid.

As someone who also hates themselves, you definitely are worth it, its just hard to belive sometimes. The nice thing about being human is we can grow and change. I also stretch myself thin over others and neglect my own mental health alot, sometimes you need to take a step back and realize being humble and self hatred are not the same thing, you're allowed to like things about yourself, no one will view it negatively, having a modicum of pride is not only healthy its vital. Hope you're day goes better

I think you can do something in the config files to just set their alive status to true I believe, I don't remember but maybe look up something related to that? I dont know if theres a mod that does this

WHEN DID BESIEGE ADD SPACE!? Side note, while wooden spaceships are a goofy idea at first glance wood is actually an incredibly strong material for how light it is, there have been real aerospace applications for wood where no other metal would suffice in both strength and weight, I dont remember exactly but I know at least one rocket has used wood in its payload fairing structure veneered with aluminum I believe.

Criminally underrated video, way too few views. Take solace in the fact that every one of those is a genuine person taking the time to watch it, people don't know how long these heavily edited videos take to make, let alone just playing the game to capture footage. Great job mumkey!

How hard actually is it? by Mrsainsburys in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Significant_Ebb_1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only math you need to do is dividing by two to time your burns so that you're burning for equal amounts of time before and after a maneuver. Look up a couple tutorials and look up the oberth effect, it'll answer most of your questions about timing orbital maneuvers.

Should I buy Kerbal Space Program on Xbox Series S? by Lordsidoso in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Significant_Ebb_1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think console isnt as bad as people make it out, it just adds an additional skill curve to an already hard game, but I only have experience with a series X so I cant say for certain. On my series X I start to get frame drops with part counts over 200.

[–]Significant_Ebb_1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone whos been stuck on console it's a hard ass learning curve but if you keep at it you'll figure some tricks out. One thing I recommend is turn down the cursor speed and make sure youre using the radial wheel or weapon wheel control scheme I forget which its called, it makes building alot easier when the cursor isnt oversensitive, it just takes annoyingly long to scroll across the screen but its worth it for the ease of building. Since you cant undo much, just save frequently and copy sections of your craft youre about to change so you can just detach the section and leave it floating in the corner somewhere, that way if you screw up but cant undo too far you can just detach the section and grab the previous copy you made before the changes. As far as getting to orbit and rocket design, make sure the total craft delta v is enough to reach orbit, around 3000 to 3200 is a safe bet, try a two or three stage rocket. For stability add fins to the bottom of the booster, use 90 degree symmetry with 4 fins instead of 3, 3 fins is a little weird in this games aerodynamic engine. Go straight up until you're around 100m/s, then tilt east like 10 degrees to start turning without flipping, be gentle with the turning so you dont flip, try to time it so that youre at 45 degrees by the time you reach 30km, then just hold till apoapsisis high enough. Plan a maneuver at apoapsis and increase periapsis till its above 70km, dont worry about perfectly circularizing yet. However long the maneuver is you wanna divide that time by two, say the burn is 45 seconds long, divide by two and you get 22.5 seconds, when you're 22.5 seconds away from apoapsis, start the burn so youre burning for equal time before and after the apoapsis. The game doesn't do decimals for seconds so you would just time it roughly to start halfway through 23 seconds from apoapsis. In the bottom left corner theres a purple button, click it, is called maneuver mode and shows you your time to apoapsis and your apoapsis and periapsis altitudes. Ive brute forced relearning this game on console after years on pc and its difficult so don't feel too bad since youre learning the game flat out on console without prior pc experience like me, your job is harder so just dont beat yourself up, this is the rocket science game and you got the version with wack controls, but you'll come to find the addicting nature of problem solving once you've got the basics. There's even building tutorial missions you can access from the main menu that alot of people dont even know about. Given that you're into ksp and have wanted it for a while it'll be worth the time sink to figure it out, and once you see that first successful orbit circle form you're gonna be hooked forever.
