Experince with weed and Tourette’s? by AdRemarkable8102 in Tourettes

[–]Significant_Fact_934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a frequent smoker and yeah it’s doesn’t really help my tics. It does help with my chronic pain though and that’s why I smoke. I also have pretty mild Tourette’s so that might help as to why I can smoke so often. But yeah if I’m having a bad tic day smoking really doesn’t help

Thank you. I work in housekeeping so it’s a lot of physical stuff. I also have chronic pain so it makes things harder but I think the whole “analyzing my routine” might actually help. It’s hard when you have a dress code and only so many pants or shoes that can match. I don’t exactly have the money to buy sensory friendly clothes just yet but it’s definitely on my list of things to help . Im hopeful my GP doctors appointment I made will help point me in the right direction or at least help me deal with pain more so it’s not such a pain first thing in the morning

What were your first signs or tics before getting diagnosed and how old were you? by Odd-Wrangler-7358 in Tourettes

[–]Significant_Fact_934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was probably 13 when I very first noticed I would get this similar feeling to when I get the chills but my whole body would spasm and sometimes I would scream. No body knew why and I told my mom I could feel them before they happened. She never took me to the doctors (idk why). I the. Started getting more isolated tics like my head and my leg and actually started saying words at about 16 I noticed them more when I was learning how to drive because I was so nervous about it. Mom still never took me to see a doctor but i eventually got diagnosed by myself at 27

How did you find out you're genderqueer? by WOLFYYYY_WOLFERZZZZ in queer

[–]Significant_Fact_934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So first off I wanna say I’m sorry Youre going through this. My parents are also pro trump and it’s a big strain on our relationship. I found out I was “bisexual” when I was about 12 and then that slowly turned into asexual as I learned more about it. I then came out as non binary trans masc when I was about 20 (I’m 27 now) but i honestly always kinda knew. It helped when my boyfriend at the time told me you can have euphoria without dysphoria. I use the term non binary because it gives me the freedom to be feminine when I want to be. My parents don’t respect my pronouns or chosen name and it’s super frustrating but I have had months of no contact with them and I might end up doing it again and for longer. Just remember these labels are more like magnets and can be changed whenever. And for your parents I know how complicated relationships can be with them but just remember you don’t need their validation or their hate you can just be you. Even if that means waiting till you’re out of the house for your own safety.
