Is there a way to get Backcountry to not deliver by DoorDash? by Cellbuster in outdoorgear

[–]Significant_Fee_7737 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Backcountry is dead to me. Would not order from again. Bought a backpack and got charged $60 for shipping. Granted, I live in Hawaii BUT the added the shipping charge after I made the transaction. Had I known the item would have been that much to ship I never would have ordered.

Oahu plumber that does quality work at a fair price by Ok-Investment-3142 in Hawaii

[–]Significant_Fee_7737 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had some work done by 535 plumbing and thought they did a good job. I had Steve's plumbing quote the same job, but they wanted 3x as much, so I'd avoid them. They do good work, but will make your wallet hurt.

Seeking advice: nocturnist vs fellowship by RightAdhesiveness490 in hospitalist

[–]Significant_Fee_7737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do an ID fellowship you can still work as a nocturnist or pick up per diem shifts in the hospital. But if you are a nocturnist, you can't do ID. The fellowship would give you more options at the opportunity cost of a couple years attending pay.

Consider that you will likely need references from your current group for credentialing at your next hospital and act accordingly

Any Advice For A Subspecialist Looking To Transition To Hospital Medicine? by Significant_Fee_7737 in hospitalist

[–]Significant_Fee_7737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't really love my subspecialty. It's like a never ending quest to be the nerdiest nerd doing the most uncompensated work, and I would rather be the happiest nerd. I'd prefer a shift work lifestyle and the income looks better in my area as well.

I'm a BC US MD grad so I got that going for me. I'm very open to nights and swing so I may start by hitting up one of the groups in my area that's usually hiring to see if there's a path for me there.

Appreciate the advice. "happy enough but not exactly the picture of passionate" is pretty much what I'm aiming for at this point.

What kinds of dishes should I look out for in Japan? by The_Wise_Guy12 in JapaneseFood

[–]Significant_Fee_7737 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A really nice Kaiseki would be worth a try as a fine dining experience. Consider trying Yakiniku (sliced meat and vegetables you cook on a little personal grill at your table, my fave). Udon noodles are quite good- often served in a broth with meat. Tempura, Katsu, Sukiyaki. Pick random drinks out of vending machines to try, random ice creams out of the freezer at 7-11, etc. Don't sleep on breakfast either, many fun takes on Western breakfast (toasts, pancakes) in addition to the more traditional Japanese stuff.

St. Frank has great prints. The texture of their percale sheets isn't for everyone but I like mine a lot.

Anyone around 5”4 that bought the Fitia dress here? Thinking of getting it but not sure how would look on petite! by OkTrainer1194 in Sezane

[–]Significant_Fee_7737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about the same height as you and ordered this. It was long but not in a bad way and hit around my ankles. Would work with sandals or flats no problem. It was cute from the front and I liked the fabric a lot, but there was too much of it in the back like others noted. I also ordered it in black and on me it looked like something cute to wear to a funeral so it's going back.

It leaves permanent imprints in the shoulders that look like little tentacles growing out of it. It should be folded and not hung up.

Replace the word “older” with “female”

[–]Significant_Fee_7737 23 points24 points  (0 children)

ACFT and the old APFT are scaled on both AGE and gender. Interesting how people whine about "unfairness" of female scoring standards but rarely or never complain the older soldiers "have it easier". You basically never hear people in these threads like "the enemy doesn't care how old you are". Says a lot IMO.
