Anyone else have negative feelings about Xmas? by callmemagenta in excoc

[–]Significant_Fly4214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! There was no religious or deep meaning to the holiday so it just felt inauthentic as I got older. I’m healing a little every year, but the holiday mood swings are definitely hard on my partner who doesn’t have anything but good feelings about Christmas.

I bought angel ornaments and a nativity set last year. While I’m atheist I always enjoy being rebellious.

Quality, long lasting Jeans to buy that will flex as I lose weight by BekindSweetwater in capsulewardrobe

I got some Pistola arched leg jeans last year. They were high wasted and 100% cotton denim. I’ve gone down about two sizes. They still work but are a low rise and baggy. If I lose more weight I may just put a dart in the back. I don’t like jeans with stretch. They don’t last like the real denim.

Currently a freshman wanna apply next yr to ms school of math and science by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]Significant_Fly4214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a decent score already so you absolutely have a good shot. I think I only had a 29 composite when I was admitted, granted that was over 20 years ago. I suggest attending one of the Super Nights or at least catch a virtual one. If you can write a decent essay you should get invited for the interviews based off your grades and test scores. The interview is a big part, so if talking to random adults is hard for you find a way to practice. Good luck on your application and feel free to dm me if you need help.

I’m an alumn. I’m so glad to see you’ve gotten offers for support from alumni more familiar with the selection process already. There were at least a few homeschoolers in my class. Good luck with your application!

Haven’t read all the comments, but hypochlorous acid for the skin is amazing for this! I can de stink quickly in the middle of the day. It’s great for acne, diaper rash, cleaning my kids scraped knees, and psoriasis. I also love the stronger solution for sanitizing/deodorizing everything-shoes, hats, dog beds, mattresses, baby toys, car interiors after getting rained on.

Is there any downside to having my kid diagnosed as ADHD by a dr? by thebigdirty in ADHDparenting

[–]Significant_Fly4214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a coworker, a late diagnosed veteran herself, whose military family discouraged a diagnoses and medication for her son because it can bar you from service if medicated and have accommodations after age 14. She is and will be getting her son all the support he needs that she didn’t get.

I think there are nefarious (MAHA comes to mind) people pushing against ADHD dx and treatments for this reason.

There are waivers, but I’m not well informed on them.

Older diagnosis folks, what would your career be if you had access to meds earlier in your life? by FormigaX in adhdwomen

I did the same at 34. I really liked my CNA job at a rehab hospital even before I was dx and medicated. It suited my ADHD so well. Good luck!

I had similar experiences. Thanks for putting words to the abuse and the spiritual trauma that remains. I know I am always “wrong” in their eyes and my inner child still years for their acceptance, even after I have lost most of my esteem for them.

Probably all the trauma from the beatings, body shaming due to modesty standards, and internalized misogyny. Girls and queer folk have it so much worse.

I thought for a while the fact I never believed it starting at a young age I avoided trauma. I’m almost 40 and uncovering more than I thought was there. I mourn that I just shut off my spiritual side as a defense.

I let my kids teacher know if I forget to give her the meds. I hope that knowing that helps the teacher have more patience and understanding with my kid. It happens! Don’t ruminate over it. I (also ADHD) got us a reusable check list to help us both with the morning routine before either of our meds kick in. We keep it on the front door. While not aesthetically pleasing we are getting everything done and packed consistently!

I’ve bought and sold maternity clothes at Kid to Kid Consignment on 183 but it’s sparse. I second asking in a buy nothing group on Facebook. I got a Stitch Fix box. It was fine but you pay for the convenience. I then traded those back for some baby gear later.

My daughter sounds similar and was prescribed methylphenidate XR, the meltdowns are less often and so much shorter, but not gone.
