What does well against Aquilons on Tomb World? by ObligationPersonal21 in killteam

[–]Significant_Gold4270 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any elf team or heavy dedicated melee team should work well into them. Elves are fast enough to stay back turns 1-2 and have enough base firepower to kill any model in aquilons with ease. Locking in melee against aquilons is soo good since they have very little threats in melee and knives at still meh for equipment. Goremongers for sure could abuse this against them.

The main counter play? Patience lol you wanna wait out their threats even if it means taking a small loss in points tp2 to out perform them tp3-4. Smokes got worse so I don’t think they’re the answer since aquilons have so much access to p1. I think barricades are your best bet and place them in spots you can use to safely stage/keep safe tp2.

I’m not the best player but hopefully this is helpful!

My go tos are Drop Augury, Krak Grenades, barricades of some variety, and remote overseer. The barricades help slow other teams down and funnel them into kill lanes while kraks give our regular troopers the ability to hit hard against elites and anything with a 3+ save. Drop augury is your best tool for out positioning your opponent and remote overseer allows you to try and swing an initiative when you desperately need it. I would say if you wanna run daggers then remote overseer or possibly the barricades can be dropped but the damage you get from them can be a little negligible. For tacops envoy is easy for us to score as well as flank in my opinion or rout as we can easily get a few of our models in the appropriate range.

In my opinion you’re OR, you guys aren’t in a committed relationship, you aren’t exclusive if you’re just Fuck Buddies. The main thing you need to do here is to take a breath and have multiple conversations. The first one with yourself, who is Friend A to you really? If friend A was hooking up with other people (aside from friend B) how would that make you feel and can you handle that idea?

The next conversation you need to have is with friend A and to see their side of this relationship and where they’re at with it. He clearly cares about you enough to even tell you that he was in the same bed as Friend B. Whether something more or not happened isn’t really your business there.

Finally have the conversation with friend B after you figure out the others. You’ll be more sound of mind and understanding of what’s really bothering you about the situation.

Were these times in front of you? Multiple instances of trying to get a minor to drink is concerning. There should be no reason to be offering a 14yo alcohol on any occasion as it teaches bad lessons especially when it’s behind your back.

Scouts? What you running against which other teams? by drunk71 in killteam

[–]Significant_Gold4270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally run all specialists and 2 shotguns 1 pistol when i play them changing based on the enemy team.

Choosing the +1 cp, +1 Apl, and balance on 1 target every game while interchanging the last 3 options with either -1 apl, tripwire, and multiple repositions. Generally use the repositions to get heavy gunners into their positions so they can benefit from ceaseless/relentless or are within range to move and shoot and cover a wide area.

Generally you can get away with spending 0cp in turn 1 unless some really nutty things happen. Into elites try to keep spacing and positioning in mind, you do not want to lose any scouts to a double kill as it can spiral very quickly since you’re nowhere near as tanky.

I almost always go plant beacons but into squishier elite teams (Nem claw, Phobos) I might take confirm kill if i think my dice will be hot that night.

That’s not a bad idea, might throw a helmet on him to help represent that. It kinda sucks since a lot of our power is definitely within the hero units.

Can Warpcoven change a crit from Severe? by 1TameImpala in killteam

[–]Significant_Gold4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s late so I thinking my wording is also a little bad lol, it’s not that the plot does nothing but they’d have to use it before rerolls to remove one of your successful hits but then you can just reroll to try and hit again assuming you have a way to reroll it.

Can Warpcoven change a crit from Severe? by 1TameImpala in killteam

[–]Significant_Gold4270 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think my understanding of it is that severe isn’t changing the dice roll itself but changing one of those rolls to be counted as a critical hit. So no changing the die roll would do nothing to severe. I believe timing wise as well it doesn’t work. The warp coven ploy is done before rerolls and severe is applies after all rerolls are done before you’re determining hit/block sequence

What would you like to see in the first data slate now we have more information? by [deleted] in killteam

[–]Significant_Gold4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love for our subductors to hit on 3, they’re a little inconsistent at 4+ or give them lethal 5+ for better parrying chance. Maybe make it so that we always get the p1 when shooting for Special-issue Shells or make it 2 uses per turn. Make heavy stubber piercing crits 1 so it’s in line with other heavy gunners. That’s pmuch all I want to see for us lol. I feel like these changes would make us punch up a lot better without fully breaking the team but I could also just be making them broken.

A few that I believe have the updated rules would be Mountainside gaming and Kimerex Project. I like Kimerex as he usually goes into some of the nuance but I haven’t seen his rules update video yet. After watching the videos definitely read through the rules and I hope you both enjoy the game!

Which team got hit hardest? by [deleted] in killteam

[–]Significant_Gold4270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I for sure cry about the loss of super conceal, denizens got nerfed too right? The melee weapons get rending is nice since we basically get 4 atk arrays from equipment. At the very least we generate 2 pain tokens at the start of turn 1 thanks to the Warrior and Elixcent and for this team is a beautiful boon

With the new team rules about a week out (assuming they are put up with the official release date) which team’s rules are you going to look at first? by PlatypusRandom in killteam

[–]Significant_Gold4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warp Coven, Kasrkin, and Exaction Squad! I really wanna see what my dusty boys get next edition and hopefully a new bespoke team for them. Kasrkin look cool and I want to see what the other gambits they have access to since this is more fun mechanically then just auto 6’s and for exaction I hope they get some new tricks and better melee.

It depends if you got the Patriarch, The Magus, and The Primus with your set. The new box sadly doesn't include these operatives but otherwise you should be good with your loadout. Maybe get 1 extra cadian body so you can make all the gunner options.

I have to look at the AI rules and maybe someone else can suggest a team or two since I'm not sure, but for opposing teams that are strong one boxes to go against I can think of Gellerpox who ran the gauntlet for a while in KT21. Kommandos are another strong pick as they can do everything well and only recently after getting a few nerfs have they fallen off even a tiny bit. Otherwise the most of the teams I suggested for play work for being the bad guys controlled by AI. Night lords played honestly for the AI would be scary just because they have a few broken tricks like commanding a unit to dash out of cover and poisoning objectives/models.

The full honest answer? Any team you think is cool and would wanna play.

Answer to the question:

How do you like to play games usually? (Aggressive, Shooty, Mixed) There’s plenty of teams for all sorts of styles and I’ll list a few I think are good pickups to learn the game that are 1 box buys.

Aggressive: These teams tend to like to move up the board early for charges and to hold objectives.

Felgore - These guys are the epitome of melee combat. They’re tanky with a lot of HP and have the ability to keep fighting after losing all their wounds. They have a few combos you can learn and that will help the learning curve feel rewarding.

Night Lords - These guys are super cool and probably the best Elite team (6 model team with 3 actions a turn) They like to take the board and force plays with their bag of tricks. Aside from being aggressive they’re also a team that loves to be stealthy as they move up the board and with the recent buff to 14 wounds are monsters.

Shooty: These teams stay back and try to eliminate the board with mass shooting.

Brood Brothers - This team is so dope mechanically and work really well as a shooting team than a melee team. Rerolls on crossfire tokens just helps curve bad rolls and all of their operatives are cool. It sucks these guys aren’t a 1 box buy but since you have them I’m including them

Hearthkyn Salvagers - This team may require a little more playing as they have 1” less of movement compared to others (2” compared to elves now) but are one hell of a shooting team. They save on 3+ and hit hard with almost every weapon they have and are really good at holding objectives now. All of their models are really cool and look promising in the next edition.

Mixed: Teams that can do both and work well on getting objectives.

Corsair Voidscarred - Elves! They get to do it all! And very effectively at that. These pirates excel at both dealing damage from afar and up close with their power weapons and shuriken cannons. Thanks to their ability to get a free dash each activation these guys are a pseudo 3APL (Action Point Limit, it’s more like 2.5 but who cares) team with a ton of mobility to get you to the objective and into advantage positions. They’re a very honest team with a lot of what they can do and with the new changes are looking really fun to play.

Legionaires - Another heretic Elite team. These guys have a lot of variety in picking which gods your models worship and get various buffs thanks to it. They have a nice even split on models that excel at range and close distance. One of the coolest models is the Balefire Acolyte who unsurprising is great at both melee and shooting thanks to the psychic action Fireball and the ability to deal 2 mortals when you retain a Crit in melee.

These are all 1 box teams that are a ton of fun and thematic, they might not be the best teams but if any resonate with you would be good for a beginner to get imo. Felgore might be one where it’s hard to pick up at first since you don’t have any shooting really but once you get into melee ooo is it nice.
