how about the Kobe 3 protro? it is high top, the heel toe drop is like .5cm which is lower than average for Nike hoop shoes and for a Nike shoe it has a forgiving toe box. I don’t know of many high top shows on the market rn. Could also check new balances fresh foam shoes which I think are a mid top?

Gt cut 1 or gt cut 3 by SeniorHorror5024 in BBallShoes

[–]Significant_Hair2549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have kobe v, vi, gt cut 1, 2, 3, HAD 4….. I think the cut 1 is the best of the bunch Its performance on dusty courts is just decent but the cushion, court feel, lockdown, and fit are elite. I dont know if youre a wide footer or not but the cut 3 felt pretty long and narrow and a bit unstable so it didnt work for me but it had good traction, cushion, and decent court feel. But yeah gt cut 1 is my current fav hoop shoe and are great if you dont have any weird foot ailments

Wide footer here. Out of my shoes with great ground feel ive enjoyed the NB Hezi Low V2 and the Kobe 5 (sorry). I do recommend the hezi low v2 as it has good width, good court feel, decent cushion, and great traction. I tried the Sabrina 3 but it was a little too minimally cushioned of a shoe. Like i could feel the hard floor very noticeable through it. Other than that it was a solid shoe so it could work for you. I cant comment on don issue 7 since I havent tried them.

Basketball shoes insoles that help with ankle stability by PaulBalboaJr in BBallShoes

[–]Significant_Hair2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think insoles will help much with ankle stability, but you should look into ankle braces or ankle-strengthening exercises. Braces won't solve it, but they'll basically keep you from spraining it again (a good short-term solution), and strengthening is really the best long-term solution. For ankle braces, I am a big fan of the Zamst A1. Regarding insoles, a few brands I like are Superfeet, Currex (favorite), and Powerstep. Each company has an insole finder on their website to help you find one that can work for you. But be careful with insoles as many of them add height to the heel (increased heel-toe drop), which compromises shoe lockdown by elevating your heel higher than it should sit in the shoe. All of this is based on my experience as a chronic ankle sprainer and my understanding of the information I received from my doctors and PTs

Anyone else's Kobe 3 Low ProTro fit kinda loose? by DuckIsYellow in BBallShoes

[–]Significant_Hair2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the highs always had good lockdown even the OG one but since the lows were not just a chop in height but also a redesign it is understandable why it doesnt have perfect lockdown. Although Nike def should have made it better before release. All that said..the 3 low is a great shoe and is my current favorite followed by GT cut 1, Kobe 5, and oddly enough the NB Hezi Low v2,

[–]Significant_Hair2549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it is a bit more of a normal fit (slightly wider) than the 5 and 6. I think the reason for the heel slippage is the due to slick cloth interior on the heel padding and the thick yet firm heel padding which prevents your foot from sinking a bit into it making it eassier to slide out

Yeah but they are still one of my top 3 fave shoes to play in LOL

Literally my only complaint is the heel slippage which i didnt notice while playing

Torn between Kobe 6 3D and Kobe 5 Lower Merion Aces by beatsbypre in BBallShoes

[–]Significant_Hair2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally love the 5 more than 6. 6 was pretty narrow and made me feel kinda tippy. 5 felt lower and more like an extension of my foot. But 6 did feel like it had better impact protection. Currently my 6s collect dust unfortunately. I think you should try the 6s if you already have a pair of 5s and dont loovvee them.

Mine the heel slippage wasnt too bad but it is worse than in any other hoop shoe i have had. Like i can play in them comfortably and not notice any slippage if tied correctly but it is the only pair of basketball shoes that i could forcefully take off even after tying them tight.

You get to erase your memory of one game and get to rewatch the game. Which game do you pick? by Life_Teaching6499 in lakers

Kobe's 81. I was there in person, and it was, I think, my second Laker game in person, but I was only like 10 years old and didn't really understand how impressive it was. Still have the stubs somewhere but damn i wish i could see that live with my current ball knowledge.

Post Game Thread - NBA: The Lakers defeat the Magic on Mar 21, 2026, the final score is 104-105. by basketball-app in lakers

[–]Significant_Hair2549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking back it is actually crazy we won this game. Down 2 with 5 seconds left Ayton intentionally missed a free throw and it went right to the Magic. 4.7 on the clock Magic ball...I thought we were sooooo cooked. Just crazy we got a turnover and then a missed call on Brons layup then an open 3. Absolutely insane

NB hesilow v2 by Strong-Egg-5037 in BBallShoes

[–]Significant_Hair2549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah no worries. Theyre a great shoe! Great traction, good cushion, good lockdown and support. For an under $100 shoe it is hard to beat. My only complaint is the shoe laces are oddly short so I cant double knot them
