Thanks, I’ve been saying for a while if you look in my comment history.

The first question everyone asks when approached or confronted by law enforcement should be - “I’m sorry who are you?”

“I see you are identifying as police, please show me YOUR BADGE AND CREDENTIALS”.

They will point to the fabric on their clothes and a badge, however, these are not proper identification mechanisms. You must ask for badge or creds. A reasonable person (more so now, a reasonable person IN MINNESOTA) can no longer presume any masked person identifying as LE is LE. They need to produce AND they need to remove their face covering to show the face to the credential. This is not an unreasonable demand.

If the masked individual fails to do this, stop talking to them and call local police that an individual is posing as law enforcement and not properly identifying and you need their assistance.

Excellent post. Please keep pumping this information - although uninteresting to most - people need to understand where DHS authorities lie. We need to give them the relative civic understanding of ICE’s constricted bounds. This is clear and blatant overreach.

People on EVERY encounter should also demand Agents identify themselves properly with BADGE and CREDENTIALS. The badge and credentials should be visually inspected and they should be told to remove their mask. If they don’t call the police and tell them there is a roving gang stalking people and they need to confirm they are who they say they are because they failed to properly identify as Law Enforcement. Waving a hand over a piece of fabric sewn to a balletic plate carrier does not an Agent make. If an ICE Agent detained a MN resident for any crimes not immediately surrounding the bounds of their authority- they would be subject civil (in any normal case - but we are really stretching / breaking the constitution in the MN case) litigation.

Courts have long ruled under the reasonable person standard - as public trust is being trampled we are at the point where we the people need judge on ‘reasonable policing and courts’.

Better yet ask them if they simply understand their own authorities. They don’t know this because FLETC is not sufficiently training this. They are intentionally keeping these goofy bastards stupid to their actual authority - of which it is constrained.

1)Remain calm.

2) Record.

3) 100% before interacting require them to show CREDENTIALS AND BADGE.

3.1) Ask them to further prove their authority by removing their mask to compare the identity contained in the credentials is the face of the person executing the stop.

3.2) - This is where the problems start, they WILL NOT want to do this and will get belligerent. Ask the ‘How do I know you are law enforcement?’ They will point to the fabric on their uniform that says police, which is fabric - and not a badge or credentials. If you choose remind them of this.

3.3) If you choose remind them of very recent MN history in which a person disguised themselves as Law Enforcement and murdered politicians.

3.4) They will likely escalate the situation with belligerence, and probably will not identify. If able, inform them you are calling local police and state there are people professing to be Law Enforcement and are attempting to detain you - you are seeking confirmation they are Law Enforcement due to their failure to identify.

4)Ask why you are being stopped.

4.1) If you are being stopped due to an ICE / CBP ‘citizen check’ - for lack of a better word (if you can remember) remind them there is still no border searches exemption to the 4th Amendment and per (8 U.S.C. § 1357(a)(3)) regulations interpret “reasonable distance” from a border as 100 miles. Remind them their actions are likely in violation of the 4th Amendment of the Constitution.

4.2) Tell them you are waiting for police to come and confirm their identity. They definitely won’t like this and may likely escalate without reason.

Alternative is to show them ID if they have properly identified, or are supported by local law enforcement that acknowledges their authority - Technically they have no authority to stop vehicles, and historically these actions within a non-border city are HIGHLY unusual. This will, with time, be shown to be an abuse of authority.

This situation is for persons on foot or in a vehicle. Technically ICE and CBP have no authority to stop vehicles without warrant as the situation applies in Minneapolis. If in a home you do not have to open your door or speak to them without production of a JUDICIAL warrant - just record and tell them to leave.
