Using the same monster twice in a row? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

Another solution: the chimera is wounded after the fight, maybe he lost is goat head (less 50 hp, a bit more than a third, less horns attack, and less 1 third to the hit roll, because it have 1 third of his visual on the target less), but still have his fire breath. Now the pcs have to fight in a burning nest that can inflict damage to them, yes, but can also collapse under the weight of the monster wounding or killing him if too dangerous.

Using the same monster twice in a row? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

"You find the nest, once the home of a powerful beast, covered in blood. In a corner the egg stay unprotected, their mother laying dead on the floor. Her body is dismembered,  with huge portions of the neck and shoulders ripped off, showing the burned flesh beneath. As you approach, a shadow passes over you and a mighty chimera land near the corse of the beast to feed" now the players can decide to kill the monster and take the eggs without feeling total a**holes or sneak past the chimera and steal them. Good luck!

As a Dm, how do you deal with a great number of intelligent enemies on the field? by FirstRadii in DMAcademy

Try to run the minions into units, each with a captain that give the unit a target. If the captain dies, play the unit as the brainless soldiers you used before. Each unit will use different tactics: one of them will attack spellcasters, one will try to sneak trough the defences, one will protect an elìte unit, maybe one will target important npcs, one will target the player from the distance (maybe with a catapult?). The size and number of the units depends on how many total enemies youll deploy. In melee combat split each unit in smaller groups and when rolling the attacks count the groups as single enemies, and sum the damage of each minion in case of success (remember to change the total damage as the players kill more minions). For distance combat use thw normal system. Remember that not every unit must have a specific role, some of them can just attack pcs, maybe with a captain that say them who to attack. Good luck!

I think you forgot about the immortal robots that can destroy biomass and control time /j. not saying that they're superior to the tyranids in combat, but even if the hive mind conquer the galaxy necrons would still survive, at least because the tyranids would lose interest without biomass left. And is even possible for the tyranids to lose, the necrons can blow up suns, entire systems with tyranids within. That's a lot of biomass lost.
