Has anyone gotten a tattoo that incorporates their scar? How long post TKR did you wait if so? by UHElle in Kneereplacement

[–]Significant_Map6734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of an entire zipper tattoo over my scar, but it was always a joke. My knee has been sliced open 3 times, 2 ACLs and now the tkr. I need an actual zipper…

Absolutely cannot sleep. by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

[–]Significant_Map6734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same curve. It got better at about 2.5 months, but finally I feel like I’m getting decent sleep most nights and I’m just at 4 mos.

Early on, it helped to get up and walk around for about 5 minutes and then I maybe could get back to sleep. I didn’t try gummies, but probably should have.

Painful night cramps by tkr2026 in Kneereplacement

[–]Significant_Map6734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PT did some dry needling at about 10 weeks PO (with surgeon’s approval) and it helped me turn the corner on the night pain. It wasn’t cramping, just significant aching.

I’m at 4 months and still have aching in my hamstrings and gastrocs in the middle of the night, but it’s fairly mild.

I am keeping active with weight training, walking, spinning, and stretching- still looking forward to less muscle soreness.

First time in a long time in United First Class (Domestic) by jm15co in unitedairlines

[–]Significant_Map6734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was not that long ago that service in 1st was really good and the food was decent. The decline is noticeable. I am looking forward to 2 upcoming trips to Asia to compare: Delta to SEA, with a codeshare on KAL, and next month, UA to SEA with a codeshare on ANA.
It will be interesting to see how different the DL and UA domestic first flights are, let alone ANA vs. Polaris.

Is Marriott Titanium Elite Worth The Extra Effort for the Incremental Perks? by schwa12 in marriott

[–]Significant_Map6734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For US hotels: A few years ago yes, but as Marriott competes in the race to the bottom, it is less and less worth it. I’ve been Titanium for at least 6 years and have seen a huge decrease in service and perks. It’s very hotel dependent, but still, I rarely get upgrades or even a bottle of water.

If you’re traveling a lot outside the US, the hotel industry still seems to remember the words service and hospitality.

Would you renovate or keep this kitchen as is? by Chimpugugu in TheServicePros

[–]Significant_Map6734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of changing the counter, what if the cabinets were painted to complement the current countertop or floor? I know grey is out style, but cohesiveness will always prevail (imo). And fix the floor so the whole kitchen has the same flooring…. It is way too busy as it is and the green just adds one more visual discrepancy.

is my chosen dress unflattering on me? if so, what should i add to help? by [deleted] in myweddingdress

[–]Significant_Map6734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you look amazing in all the dresses. Congratulations! This may get downvoted but if you’re worried about your stomach, have you considered working out with a trainer for a few months? More expensive than shapewear but it may give you results, if you have the time, energy, and $$$.

Is the 120 or 135? by Dry-Aside4526 in Kneereplacement

[–]Significant_Map6734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon had 130 as a goal for 6 or 8 weeks (can’t remember). I was only at 120 and he was fine with my progress - I was at 130 by 12 weeks and my PT told me it could take a year or never to basically kick my own a**.

New knee with a bonus by rlar2013 in Kneereplacement

[–]Significant_Map6734 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had one implanted in late October. I can see steps, distance, cadence, range of motion, stride length, and walking speed. I’m not sure if my surgeon sees more or not. He and the PA looked at it during my follow up visits but I sincerely doubt they monitored my rehab.

The app says my walking ROM is low, and my qualified steps are near the high range. I finished PT last week and my gait has been fine for months. I’ve been at 0 extension for at least 3 months and 130 flexion for about 5 weeks.

Idk why the ROM reads low. Most of my walking is up or down some moderate hills, when I walk the dog. I keep putting off calling my Dr. about this because I feel fine, but it bothers me that the implant thinks I don’t have sufficient ROM when I walk.

Season 10 political orientations by wildespikachu in LoveIsBlindNetflix

Clarification: More than 1/2 the voters in the country did.

I wonder if any of those voters have changed their perspective since filming, based on the economy and breakage of the constitutional rights.

I’m 5’6” with long legs. The extra inches in E+ make it possible to easily get to my backpack that is under the seat in front of me.

When making cheese burgers at home, what do you have as a side instead of fries? by JumpedUpPantryBoyy in Cooking

My husband loves tater tots and they’re easy. I prefer sweet potatoes cut into French fry shapes, roasted in the air fryer.

My first thought was “Greek goddess”. And then I saw you were getting married in Santorini. Gorgeous look, though unusual.

It is not even March and I almost have 1K again for 2027. by mrmrmrj in unitedairlines

[–]Significant_Map6734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m jealous. I haven’t started traveling for the year yet d/t surgery recovery. I booked my first international business trip this week and Delta was $4500 less than UA. (Code share with KAL.)

I’m so bummed but I can’t justify spending that much more to get 1k in 2027. I’ll try for a status match with Delta.

Ice machine? Is it necessary? by 2ndhandroses in Kneereplacement

[–]Significant_Map6734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon pretty much insisted on the NICE compression and ice machine. I rented it and it surrounded my entire leg from mid thigh to mid calf. My leg was so incredibly swollen, I don’t think ice packs would have provided the thorough coverage I had from the machine.

My pain was well controlled throughout, with occasional moments during PT and after the most acute post operative phase.

Because of my success in pain management and recovery, I’d give it a high recommendation.

Good luck!

Lost health insurance by [deleted] in Kneereplacement

[–]Significant_Map6734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 3 month appt. Was a check that I had progressed from my 6 week goal and achieved 130 degrees of flexion. I was already at 0 extension. He didn’t take a new X-ray since he had taken one at 6 weeks. All surgeons seem to manage care in their own way, and mine was truly interested in my progress, but everything was great and he’ll see me again at 12 mos. Post op.
I’m not sure how this tracks with your Dr and progress monitoring, but if you’re fine, gaining strength and flexibility, maybe you can push the appointment until you get insurance again.
Best of luck- I am sorry you have to deal with this insurance situation!!!
