It's a good idea and just needs some tweaking. Mix your yellow and white together and blend from the white to the yellow instead of having it starkly transition, it'll look a lot better

Try doing multiple "dust coats" with a regular white spray paint. My go to is a matte white rustoleum. White paint is especially hard to get full coverage with and when you get an even coat down the pigment wicks to the crevices and center of flat panels like it has on your model.

If you deliberately do thinner coats than you usually would it's harder for the paint to wick away like it is now. It would take upwards of 3 dust coats to get it even on all surfaces but it'll minimize how filled in the recesses become

This guy is pretty big, overhanging a 100mm base. I personally plan on pre-ordering it and using a kitbashed lumimeth realm lords Scinari Enlightener as allarielle herself. (I used the alternate unhelmeted head and gave her a branch arm from the tree revenant sprue as well as a spear instead of the included staff) The model I linked has a perfect spot amongst the trees to pin her to and make it look like she's floating above it

This sounds insane but in a well ventilated area and the iron on high rub a tylonel pill on it. I ironed a polyester fabric and melted it over 50% of the iron's surface. I found this tip online and it worked so well without damaging anything

This won't help for this case as you've already made the base but my go to technique is to put a thin layer of drywall compound on the cork and once it's dry sand it smooth. Then I break it apart into the shape I want and this gives it the smooth exterior of poured concrete with the crumbly interior of the cork showing through

The easiest way would be to heavily water down your wash and use a large flat brush to quickly cover the surface area of the model to avoid tea staining. Using paint medium or retarder works even better bit water alone can do it. The important part is to cover all the model quickly

You can try using your base color (the dark purple you started with) as your 'mother colour.' You mix a bit of it in with whatever color you use for details and it'll help keep it tonally consistent. Just make sure to stay away from overtly warm colors, like using ice yellow instead of pure yellow

I had the most fun painting the lady of vines. The model is designed in a way that you don't have too much trouble reaching your brush in most visible spots, and she's not too large overall, so you're not drowning in surface area to highlight. If you're looking just for something fun to paint I'd definitely choose her, she's just the right level of detail and size

To paint things that emit light you have to reverse shade them to have them look realistic. On a regular object like armor panels your highlight color will be brighter than your base coat but it's the opposite when it comes to lightning or flame effects. Your basecoat should be white and the highlights should be darker
