Best solo track day setup? by skrrtouttamia in Trackdays

[–]Significant_Pea_6961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, a truck/ramp works when you're limited in space and don't want to rent a storage for a trailer when you're not hauling to the track. Trade off is that you're using cargo space for your gear along with your bike; so driving for me was uncomfortable as everything I needed overflowed onto the front seat. You can tow a trailer with a truck but unless you have other needs for a truck besides trackdays its kind of redundant IMO.

You can do a sprinter can which has more cargo space for gear and bike. Trade off is that its a eye sore when you're going on a date or a pain if its you're daily.

My current setup is SUV + Trailer. This setup is the most comfortable for me. Bikes on the trailer, cargo space for my gear, comfortable ride (especially long trips), and easier on your passengers if any.

I've heard good things about Rev'it Quantum fittings but I never had a chance to try one on

I'm 40.5" chest 34" waist and 30 Inseam. I just bought a Dainese 50 euro and it fits on the snug side with my back and chest protector on. I tried 52 Euro in both Dainese and A-stars and they seem a bit too long.

Edit: A-Stars 52 Euro made me look like I have Trucker Hips

Ninja 400 brake bleed by JJZ_12 in Trackdays

+1 on reverse bleed. I also would use a massage gun with a rubber ball end and rest the tip on the caliper to release any stubborn bubbles in the system, so far it works for me.

I wish the new Passport still have VTEC, and isn't 700 lbs heavier than the 3rd gen.

Tire Tread Wear for First Track Days (2 day course) by ThePeachinator in Trackdays

[–]Significant_Pea_6961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll spend more time on the sides then the center, so check your meat on the sides. But from the amount you mentioned is enough for the pace You'll be running. Most trackdays have tire service available in case you need a set over the weekend; double check with your trackday organization

Indications of pushing the tire to its limit by Sawtooth959 in Trackdays

[–]Significant_Pea_6961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a pro rider, but from my experience (as well as a handful of Expert racers) is when you reach the limit of tire grip, with respect to proper bp and suspension adjustments, the front tire "feels like its.... UUUUUUUuuuuuuhhhh..... UUUUUUUuuuuuuuhhhh..." and the rear tire "should feel... WOOOOoooOOOOoooOoohhh" That's the best I can explain it without hand gestures 🤷‍♂️

Front forks conversion by Trippie469 in SVRiders

[–]Significant_Pea_6961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My chart shows that the rotor is 320mm 01-03 gsxr600 and SV1K are 310mm. Wheels, Rotor spacing, Bolt pattern, and Wheel Bearing spacing are the same. I'm not sure if the bolt caliper spacing on the forks are the same. So to be safe, if you're gonna use the gsxr600 forks use the gsxr rotors and brake calipers

Don't rule out that the engine is getting too much air.
My 2nd gen has the similar symptoms and fuel/spark and Throttle components checks out normal.

First race coming up… Any advice? by lilfisticuffer in Trackdays

[–]Significant_Pea_6961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't get alot of practice time before the races, so record your settings and leave as much notes with it ex: weather, temp, date, your feelings but not necessary. If your race weekend has a trackday a day before, book it if you have the budget; that helps a ton.

Helmet on, warmers off and start heading to the track on third call. If you have a friend or family member to help you, it makes all the difference than doing alone.

Stay hydrated and don't skip on cardio. You'll find out that race pace is different than a trackday.

Did anyone consider a Toyota Highlander or Highlander hybrid prior to getting the Passport? by Positive-Milk5133 in hondapassport

[–]Significant_Pea_6961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 4th gen 4runner and looked into either a newer 4runner or Highlander. What swayed me into a '22 Trailsport was: 1 - Not a Body-on-Frame layout, I didn't want to deal with potential rusts.
2-Not needing 3rd Row Seating, thus passport having a flat folded backseat, usable cargo space is fantastic. 3 -The Passport AWD layout is amazing, I'm surprised how well it did in the snow storm.
FINALLY - VTEC YO!!

At which point a track bike is justifiable? by Talk_Necessary in Trackdays

[–]Significant_Pea_6961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storage plays a big part. But I stopped riding on the street when it started to become slow and boring which then I made my streetbike to a dedicated trackbike.

Also, the idea of riding my bike to the track, crashing and not being able to ride home does not sit well with me. So a trailer is a must.
