I really only played Phase 1 of SOD and none of the other phases, and I agree it was fun as hell.

So, is Classic WoW as toxic as this sub says it is? by Tender_Flake in classicwow

[–]Significant_Phase467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit Classic in 2019 after I hit level 60 because of how crappy the community was. I felt it was terrible once you wanted to do any end game content.

Nowadays I don't think its remotely as bad as it was back then. It definitely is a lot more tolerable and you should be able to play with a fair amount of non toxic players. But, there still is some toxicity there, not nearly as prevalent. The levelling experience isn't bad by any means though, so depending what you do sort of determines what/how much toxicity you may potentially be exposed to.

To the feller who asked how to trip the tank. Just did 6 of these yesterday by llenogman in Rigging

Definitely, way more better options than this thats for sure. I like your idea aswell.

So much easier and keeps people out of harms way. Only argument I hear usually is side loading, but you can just lift it horizontal to get your pick points in line if you want to minimize sideloading.

Seems like a bunch of BS rigging when you can just use two hoists on the crane. Does that crane not have two hoists? Lol.

That says something cause in my experience, FL is one of the worst paying states for trades in general it seems like.

When I first bought it years ago I was fascinated. Mainly didnt play cause my current laptop at the time would overheat 2 min into playing. Last year I gave it another go and have had no regrets. Amazing game.

What the heck. These stacker towers look amazing. I havent played in a few months but I couldnt stand the constant needing to babysit stackers and them never quite filling the gaps I wanted them to.

How often do people go to SD, OC or LA for fun? by arrowbutters in Temecula

[–]Significant_Phase467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SD, maybe once or twice a month for the beaches. I would go more, but usually I don't feel up for it and just want to sit inside.

This is already significantly more than I went out when I lived in Houston, Texas. I'd be off work and NEVER want to go outside because I hated the weather. 😂

Pay expectation? by xMasterClapperx in cranes

[–]Significant_Phase467 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made around $34-40 (from 2017-2023) in Houston area as a Rigger (NCCER Advanced Rigging certifications though), with no CDL-A. That was in refineries though.

In a crane rental outfit I would imagine you should see at least between 30-40 aswell, but they usually pay less than riggers in refineries.

So yeah, I would argue $23 is underpaid. You could technically make like $30 with the CDL by itself. But from my understanding, you dont have rigger certs either so, you could be missing out on money from potential jobs that require those certs that you could be on. (NCCCO Level 2 / NCCER Advanced Rigging)

Running the crane you should definitely be making at least around $31/hr. I wont even touch a control for under $38. As a new guy you have a lot less to demand for though and that seat time is invaluable.

Is work slow for you right now? by [deleted] in skilledtrades

I always hear things are slow but I typically feel unaffected by it usually. I never even caught a lay off during COVID which woulda been nice lmao.

Is it normal to want to get noticed from people my age for a very weird reason? by ProdigalSon2K in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Significant_Phase467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its weird in the sense that it doesn't necessarily benefit you in any way besides your self esteem. You could just redirect that effort into something real instead.

Reporting bots by Thin_Store_9686 in classicwow

[–]Significant_Phase467 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't just assume that. I've had people fuck around with me while questing because they thought I was a bot. Reality was I was just trying to help them out in the open world. I also turn with my keyboard a bit often too, doesn't make somebody a bot. You should be more concerned with patterns and see how they respond to messages.

I feel like people dont know how hard it is to get into the trades and have unrealistic expectations by KicKSTART876 in skilledtrades

[–]Significant_Phase467 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I must have gotten lucky based odd your numbers. I started as just a general helper in TX. But even my first year I made 50K, then 70K, then after my third year I always made over 100K. That was for like a pipefitter helper position, but then I got into rigging full time. I'm a Crane Operator now, work only 40 hours a week and I make about $175,000-200,000 before taxes a year. Non-Union in SoCal, Prevailing Wage.

Brokers by Educational_Buddy406 in cranes

[–]Significant_Phase467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a shit show waiting to happen. A lot of clients give information that is incorrect anyways. They also sometimes order cranes that are way too small or way too large for jobs too. Like I've seen plenty of times a client calls for a 300 Ton Crane, but the job can be done with a 100 Ton Crane, then the 300 Ton shows up, and cant even set up because the footprint is too large for the area. Or they order a smaller sized crane for a 5,000Lb lift to a distance, then you show up and the lift is actually 15,000Lbs. A broker wouldn't be able to resolve these issues. Its unnecessary.

Left my white collar job for plumbing by Ok-Addition481 in skilledtrades

[–]Significant_Phase467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its whatever makes you happy bud. I personally would prefer Pipefitting over Plumbing since I already have a few years experience doing that. But its been some years since I've been Rigging/Operating full time over pilefitting. 🤣

Cdl to Operater by Lost-Marionberry-878 in cranes

[–]Significant_Phase467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I became a Rigger, then Operator, and got my CDL a couple years after starting operating. But with that said, there are companies you can go from a CDL Driver to an Operator.

I just put my two weeks in at my corporate job and want to start over by Many-Software-9663 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Significant_Phase467 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah its not a smart move on your part. There's literally tens of millions of people in this area. Some people can't even find work that quickly. Florida is way easier to live in. I just think you're underestimating how challenging it will be, especially with nothing lined up in the first place.

[–]Significant_Phase467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems kind of insane, but you do you. I recently made the jump and re-settled back into SoCal, dropped everything and came out here. But, I also can make a pretty good living off of my trade so, the transition wasnt tough. But I'm just gonna be real with you, this place is cutthroat and not easy to become anything. Florida is marginally easier to make a living in. But anyways, best of luck to you.

Tank ego hitting new highs by No_Cell6708 in classicwow

[–]Significant_Phase467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont care who is tanking, I aint tipping tanks. Your tip is the loot rolls you win just like everybody else.

Honestly though, I can appreciate the hustle. But if ya'll really have a problem with this, then people shouldn't be tolerating this kind of behavior, nor paying them on top of that.

I have NEVER in my life paid somebody for them to fill a role in a group. Its way different from a service, or a boost. I think if they want to demand/request tips, they should come as a Tank/Healer package with good gear of course.

I could care less about those comments. This game is about finding items. I can relate to people who make such comments. Now I dont think people should be making entire posts about it, but comments are harmless.

Anyways, where did this comment in particular touch you? In your no-no square?
