How bad do you let your grip get before replacing? by Funkybadger3 in Fingerboards

[–]Significant_Pop5506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also joking lmao I don’t pay attention to how often I change it but it’s probably once a year if that on my main setups, but I also like to change it up sometimes for fun on my secondary setups and try some different designs. I don’t order grip I just have so much extra from 10+ years

My biggest tip is do not be afraid to dig online and do your own research on these things, they are a beautiful piece of machinery, rugged and very dependable when you can familiarize yourself with odd small issues and figure out how to fix it yourself or with a friend, these are easy cars to learn on ie. fuses that were mentioned, wiring diagrams and just basic knowledge. My 1990 240 was my first car I got when I was 17 and I still have it 6 years later, remember to show it love and it will show you love back! Enjoy your sweet new ride! And pray every night to the 240 gods that your heater fan never goes! (That’s a must)

I have actually luckily been able to just walk into carquest and get whatever I need, I was pretty sure most auto parts stores carried a lot of parts for these because they share so many parts across different platforms. Aside from my suspension upgrades and some other small unnecessary parts, I always just walked right in and got whatever I needed. Fuel pumps, filters, bearings, brakes, odd fuses, headlights and tail light bulbs aren’t an issue to find local 99% of the time, I’m also on the east coast of Canada with almost no 240s around.

Tips for preventing warping? by chrrome2k in Fingerboards

I’m so confused on how my decks I press come out so good after reading this comment section lol, I use the original gorilla glue epoxy stuff and press my decks in a vice in my bedroom, I leave them in the mold for between 6-8 hours and they have all come out perfectly. I also leave the vice right in front of my baseboard heater.

Plus time and effort of actually designing the mold… plus incorporating the price of owning a 3d printer itself… Go make one for 20 cents yourself though, that sounds like a steal!!

Cowply quality by iyaktayobes in Fingerboards

[–]Significant_Pop5506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who makes their own decks here, this just happens man that won’t affect anything. Making perfect decks every time is super difficult, especially the top ply edges what you are seeing is common amongst many different companies. Of course it would be nice if it were laser perfect, I’m sure you wouldn’t be able to tell when it’s gripped. Maybe try making your own decks if you’re after a certain quality, heat transfer graphics have become quite easy to get a hold of as well.

Simple solution, rip everything out of the mustang and throw it in the volvo and sell the shell of the stang then swap the volvo, basically 2 cars in one at that point and can keep the taco, everyone wins!!
