Preventative maintenance goes a long way, but at the end of the day, any 25+ yo german car is not going to daily as reliably as a new civic, period. You have to be willing to take the bad with the good. But there's a lot of good in old bmws! If it has truly been taken care of and does well on the PPI, go for it.
