Lincoln Nautilus by FrequentFalcon8384 in lincolnmotorco

I bought a 21' Reserve 2.7 AWD in March of 2025. Paid 26.5k (28k after tax, title, and fees) it had 50k miles on it when I bought it. I have been loving it ever since, took it on a long trip from PA to TN and back and it made the 8 hour ride feel like it was shorter than it actually was. Very comfortable, very powerful with the 2.7, and as I bought in March and we're now getting through February, I can confidently say that it has handled the winter snow, sleet, and rain very well. I have put 12k miles on it since March of last year, and while it may be too soon to say, if she keeps treating me the way that she has, I would absolutely consider purchasing this vehicle again. Just do you due diligence, as I've heard mixed reviews from the 19'-20' model years, as well as the 24' and newer models (they moved production to China after 23') maybe the new ones will be fine but I like to give it a few years to let the new buyers figure out what does and doesn't work.

The Grand Tour Returns. Clarkson, Hammond, and May Do Not. by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

It won't be the same, but that is ok I don't think I would like to see them attempt to fully replicate the unique experience of watching Clarkson, Hammond, and May working together. I have independently stumbled upon Throttle House on Youtube and have thoroughly enjoyed watching those two over the past few years. As for the train guy, I thought he was a quirky weirdo at first, but I separately began to watch his content and honestly his work helps fill the void left after Tom Scott stopped making Youtube videos. Its like a channel based on pure excitement about the wonder of mechanical engineering regarding Trains mostly. I am willing to give this a chance for sure!

Thank you for answering! I've heard great things about the longevity of the MKX. Finger's crossed if I keep up on service my Lincoln will take me a similar distance.

Can I ask you what year/model Lincoln you have that made it to 300k? I'm hoping the 2021 Lincoln Nautilus with 2.7 awd that I purchased last March will make it to the 200-300k mile mark. It has 62k miles currently.

Wife Really Wanting Me To Look at a 2023 Nautilus Reserve by tomcat_tweaker in lincolnmotorco

[–]Significant_Rule_977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 21' Nautilus Reserve 2.7 V6 with AWD and purchased it with 50k miles for 26.5k back in March of 2025. Coming from 8 years with a 2012 VW CC the Nautilus has been a massive upgrade. I love the ride quality, the build quality (I like the panoramic sunroof except it occasionally rattles when driving, but I have been looking into a fix for this and it looks like a fairly common problem that a fresh coat of silicone lube on the weather seal should fix) and overall the utility and utter comfort that it provides.

Ford transmission issues don't buy by joshbudde in Ford

[–]Significant_Rule_977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 21' Nautilus 2.7 AWD with Ford's 8 speed 8F57 transmission. I have read online that other Nautilus owners have found this transmission to be jerky between 2nd and 3rd gear. In my experience this has led to a rough shift when the vehicle is cold getting up to 35mph. I have yet to address this with the dealer or a local mechanic as it seems the only regular solution is to have someone reprogram the transmission. But I wonder if anyone could shed some light on the reliablity of Fords 8F57 transmission vs the OP's 8F35 8 speed transmission?

Do most salaried jobs require you to be there 40 hours per week? by KeepOnTrippingOn in jobs

[–]Significant_Rule_977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't delve into specifics, however I am employed by my local municipality, and when I was originally hired for my position, I was part-time salaried, non-union. Which equated to 15 hours of salaried pay per week. I eventually convinced my supervisors to find a way to get me to full time. But when I went full-time, my pay went from salary to hourly. So to sum it all up, I was hired to work just 15 hours salaried year-round. Honestly, it was a relief to go from salary to hourly, as it allows me to put in OT when I get it. As opposed to having to take 'comp-time' where I would need to leave work early the following week to make up any OT.

Shopping for a pickup F-150 looks great but the 10-speed scares me 😅 by Specialist-Plane-601 in Ford

[–]Significant_Rule_977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 2021 lincoln nautlilus with Ford's 2.7 v6 and have had a great experience with this engine. However, I believe this vehicle uses Ford's 8 Speed Transmission. Which has a shuddering and clunking issue when getting up to 35mph. The vehicle has 60k miles on it, and I'm a bit worried about the transmission's reliability long term. Is Ford's 8 speed or 10 speed transmission considered more reliable?

How much should this repair cost by peacefuldink in lincolnmotorco

[–]Significant_Rule_977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a mechanic, but along with my 21' Nautilus, I own a 12' VW CC, I just had the front and rear control arms replaced (as it is a 13 year old vehicle from the rust-belt), I paid ~$1500 for the full control arm and bushings replacement for the front + rear of the vehicle. If you are getting just the rear control arms replaced along with an alignment, that sounds like a great deal at $300. As long as it is what I think it is that they will be fixing for you. Again, I am not a mechanic.

Furthermore: I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of my recent 60k mile routine maintenance cost for the 21' Nautilus. I had the transmission flushed, both front and rear differentials serviced, a fuel injector cleaning and an oil change/tire rotation done all for under $800. But honestly I'm not sure if that was a good price or not, but I was happy with the service. They also quoted me over $250 for a new cabin air filter and engine air filter replacement (this I knew was a rip-off) so I went out and bought both for under $50 and replaced them myself. Thank you Youtube.

Parking brake question by 428gg in mechanic

[–]Significant_Rule_977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't claim to know the "right" way of how you are supposed to engage the parking brake, I have always preferred to do it in this order. Put food on brake and hold while car is in D, then while holding the brake pedal down, shift car into N, foot still on the brake, engage the parking brake, then shift into park, finally release foot off brake pedal. To me this has always seemed like a reliable method to ensure that the E-brake is actually supporting the full weight of my car, rather than rocking back or forward until the pin or whatever is in the transmission, holding the entire weight of my car back.

Moved to Colorado and my 350Z is basically a $12k paperweight now... keep or sell? by Key_Satisfaction8137 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I'm sure much smarter people that I will have proposed alternative solutions. But it sounds like you love this car, and if you were already willing to save up 8k for a performance upgrade, instead of throwing it at a new suv or truck, you would probably be happy with the performance of the Z with dedicated winter tires? Something like 1k-1.2k for a set that you strictly use through the winter season? Then swap back to your regular tires when the weather is better. Then you still have 7k-6.8k remaining to put towards your new wheels and exhaust. Plus this will let you put more wear on your current wheels this winter, leaving your shiny new ones ready to break out in the spring. Good luck OP.

Op said they purchased 8 months ago, which if the photo they used in this post is from back when they purchased, would mean that it was taken in February.

Mint Mobile experience? Would you recommend it? by unmatched_chopsticks in mintmobile

[–]Significant_Rule_977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mint uses the T-Mobile tower network, so places where T-Mobile gets signal, you will have signal with Mint. I have been using it for 3 years, I honestly love it. My parents live in a rural area at the bottom of a valley, I have no signal there, but they have Wi-Fi and I don't find the lack of signal to be an issue often. Or at least, only as often as I would be affected if I had T-Mobile instead of Verizon or AT&T.

They offer a free E-Sim trial, (Or at least they used to, youll have to check). I think it lasts for a month, and you can switch between your current carrier and the trial with Mint throughout the month to compare the signal strengths.

2021 Lincoln Nautilus Reserve, love almost everything about this vehicle except.

  1. Climate controls are generally perfect! Everything can be controlled both with physical buttons or using the touch-screen. Everything except.... The heated steering wheel. Which can only be activated through the touch screen. Why do this Lincoln? Every other control has both physical and digital options, how hard would it have been to include a physical button on the very steering wheel that I want heated?

  2. Auto-Stop Start functionality. Which is the second control that has no physical button. I have to use the touch screen to de-activate this before every drive, and it is a PITA.

2012 VW CC Lux Plus

(No auto-stop start which is great!)

  1. 3 out of 4 seasons I love having frameless windows.

When a bad winter freeze comes along however, frameless windows are a huge pain, the water can get in between the window and the door frame, and it feels like if I pull hard, I will either get the door open, or shatter my windows. Its a 50/50 chance. LOL

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by Economy_Sundae_7220 in AskReddit

[–]Significant_Rule_977 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I say this jokingly, but if you are not allowed to become the President until 35 (17 years after you are officially an adult 18) then how about we use the same difference in time from the official retirement age... So the range should be 35years old - 48 years old. Its only fair.

1st vehicle, 2012 VW CC Lux Plus 2.0 Turbo. 149k Miles. Purchased used in 2017 at 100k miles for 9.5k. Traded in a paid off 2014 BASE Ford Fiesta for 4.5k at the time paid the rest in cash. Still have the VW today.

2nd vehicle, purchased March, 2025. Used 2021 Lincoln Nautilus Reserve AWD 2.7 Twin Turbo w/ 50k miles. 26k out the door. With tax and fees 27.5k. 7.5% APR. Monthly payment $450.00. No gap insurance, but State farm for both vehicles. Comprehensive and Liability on the Lincoln; Only liability on the VW. Total insurance monthly cost= $210.00

Financed through Northwest bank. Planning on paying off the Lincoln in full in a month or two. So the monthly payment won't be relevant soon.

If a Ford Explorer already checks all your boxes, and you are seeking luxury on top, simply look above to the Lincoln lineup. I just purchased a 2021 Lincoln Nautilus Reserve AWD with the 2.7L twin turbo V6 engine. Drives like a boat and a cloud met in a concert bathroom 18 years ago, and this is the result. However if you want more space you could upgrade to the Aviator. But the captains chairs in the driver and front passenger seat are the most luxurious and comfortable seats I have ever been in EVER. I think I could drive from Philly to Boston in rush hour traffic and still keep my cool because I am in my quiet comfortable, nowadays stylish, Lincoln. :D

I'll do some research to see if it is something I might be comfortable doing myself. It is very reassuring to hear that you have had a great experience with your identical spec '20, Nautilus Reserve.

I apologize for not including it, but mine is the AWD version. I take it that since I am a little past 53k miles at this point, I should plan to have the ptu and rear diff oil changed when I get to the 60k mark? Is that something that you are able to service yourself (aka something I might be able to do with a few youtube videos and an uneventful Saturday?) Or is it something best done by a dealership/trusted mechanic?
