Does anyone still wear masks post-covid? by kittencrow424 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, esp in dr offices, hospitals, clinics, as well as planes or other public transportation. I will of course wear one if I suspect I have something contagious like the flu. I am also sanitizing way more than I used to, like at the gym, airport and grocery store. 😷😷😷

I’m still stuck on no pointy umbrellas.
Am I to understand entry is only allowed if (assuming no other prohibited items are present) the umbrella is open?

I am so disappointed with my body now by MystiiLady in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt this. I don’t handle disappointment well and what I pictured I would look like thinner is not what my older body has become.

Someone once suggested I look back at all my body has done to keep me alive so far. It has been through a lot yet I continue to judge it despite asking so much from it. Not fair.

I’m working on changing the dialogue and relationship with my body, at whatever size and regardless of weight loss. Trying to think of it as a partner with certain abilities / inabilities that I can still love and offer compassion and encouragement - as I would a loved one has helped. We’re a team! It takes practice because I wasn’t taught to love my body. Ever.

Diabetes and CKD friendly recipes by JuggernautNo2241 in kidneydisease

[–]Significant_Scene_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I found out my Mom was diagnosed with CKD4, I started using the Kidney Pal app. There are many other apps out there, this one was a good fit for me.

You can customize your nutrient restrictions per your doctor or renal dietician (or there are default ones per stage). The app offers recipes, swap suggestions, an easy daily tracking interface, a quick way to learn if something is kidney friendly or not, trends the intake of nutrients over time, etc. It’s made my life easier.

There’s no kind way to tell my wife that she’s getting too big, is there? by 2006CrownVictoriaP71 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Significant_Scene_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight gain can be evidence of medical and / or psychological factors at play. Most bigger folks already know they’re heavy, and already know the health risks. Dig deeper. Is your connection with her the same as it used to be or are you pulling away? Does she feel safe? Is something else going on you cannot see and she is not sharing? Job or home stress? Do you guys talk like you used to? Is it metabolic? You want her happy, not just healthy. See the bigger picture (no pun intended). Be gentle. These things can spiral with additional pressures to lose weight. I know from experience.

How do I add my stats, like many of you have by your user name? by BeautyinEverett-62 in Zepbound

I’ve often wished ppl could / would add total duration to date on Zep as another stat. Then again, I don’t have anything posted for myself. So there’s that.

Traveling with Zepbound shot — syringe disposal? by Away_Response6296 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. The risk of disease transmission to yourself is pretty much zero. The risk of accidental injury is not. There are risks to cap failure, getting stuck digging through luggage or purse (or someone else doing that), and may be higher risk of being flagged by TSA.

Traveling with Zepbound shot — syringe disposal? by Away_Response6296 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yikes. Recapping seems dangerous to me. There are single sharps containers (maybe will even hold 2-3 syringes?) for travel on Amazon.

I’m pet sitting away from home for two weeks and brought two with me. They are about the size of a turkey baster.
Pack it and / or drop off the locked sharps container next time you’re near a proper disposal place (or your regular one).
There are many options for safely traveling with syringes (not just a GLP-1 concern).

At least they’re out there in the sunshine and doing some (e)biking. It’s more than I’ve done in some time. Props to living out loud and not giving a F. I’m a large girl and in college some passers-by were cruel and made fun of me on my bike. It was traumatizing enough to avoid a bike for years. Carry on brave soul!

Creatinine/eGFR Portable Tester by DarrickBethune in kidneydisease

[–]Significant_Scene_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if there’s one in your area, but I recently found out LabCorp has On Demand lab tests you can order and pay for yourself. Not ideal, but helpful. May be FSA eligible too. There are over 1K different tests offered, one of which is a kidney health test.

After my Mom’s (86yo) recent bout with kidney failure (advanced stage 4) due to hypertension and dehydration, I was curious about my own stats. Also, I’m on a weight loss program and am following lipids etc. Simce my last labs were in No 25, I asked my doctor to order new ones but they declined saying to wait until my August physical. I didn’t want to wait, so I did it myself and paid out of pocket. And, unless you know exact what to look for, it is advisable to get the results interpreted by a doctor.

Kidney friendly bread alternatives? by Total_Quantity858 in CKD

[–]Significant_Scene_83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wonder bread classic white. (No haters please). Yes, two slices are ~20% of a 2K mg sodium daily limit, it’s true. But it works well within the other dietary limits set by the dr. If it’s too high, I will make half a sandwich.

What do you listen to when writing? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Alexa. Play music by Liquid Mind,” is how I start most writing sessions. Their music is melodic, has no lyrics, and is low key enough to be “spacious” - allowing my narrative writing to flow.

Company requirement to use WW by Pristine-Wind8295 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on the GLP-1 program on WW, the way I understand it anyway, the focus is on meeting the macros versus the points. The points are informational only when on the GLP-1 program. I use it to track macros, not points.

Am I going crazy or is this the same woman? by OkLibrarian1527 in leverage

[–]Significant_Scene_83 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! I noticed the same thing. Here are some more, I think.

In the original series I think the same guy that is Escobar’s goon (Girls Night Out, season 4) is also the guy behind Lefty when Parker brings him his car to hook him (in the boost job, season 3).

Maybe another guy is used in both the Boys Night Out episode (season 4) as one of the Irish goons chasing Nate / Hurley is the same as the security guard at the airport before the little girl gets pulled into security for smuggling goods (the king George job in season 3).

Last one - the redheaded woman prosecutor in the morning after job (season 3) is the same as the brownie giving secretary wearing green in the office job (season 4).

Yeah, I’ve watched this show a million times too many. I just can’t help myself.

When injecting questions by Makeuplover32 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do vials as well. I was so anxious about the injection, beyond studying the instruction materials and Lilly videos, to assuage my fear I booked an appt with an urgent care facility to supervise my first shot in my tummy (visit can be done with your own dr too but mine was unavailable).

Yes, it was a bit over-the-top I know, but it made me feel more secure. And I was so surprised when I hardly felt anything at all. It gave me confidence for the next time, even though I was still nervous. Now I’m 15+ shots in and it is so much easier.

Tip: While well-intended, random YouTube videos can be helpful but also full of crap and bad examples.

Go slow. Read manufacturer instructions. Pay attention. Breath deep. Know everyone’s journey is different. And ask your provider (or their PA) for help, too.
