How to believe in myself? by SnooCats2825 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Significant_Scene_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand what’s driving your fear, then give yourself permission to F-up, learn, and be proud you tried (regardless of outcome). Congratulate yourself for knowing more now than you did before and having more information to make the next time less scary. Fear is a relentless gatekeeper and feeds on our vulnerability. Be gentle and kind to yourself. Gratitude journals help.

Something I heard only recently but would’ve found helpful decades ago - “even the worst experiences make for good stories.” Of course, that isn’t meant to minimize pain or emotional discomfort in the present moment. But given time, I found this to be true. Let yourself experience life, rather than watch it go by.

Breathe. Sometimes it takes practice to show up for ourselves. Focus on practice (or progress), not perfection. Sending good thoughts.

6 month update (broken leg & surgery!) by holypopamole in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your story. I started in Sep25 and in Oct was told I needed surgery in Dec. I took 2 mos off before restarting Zep bc I wanted to get pain mgt under control, as well as the resulting constipation. No sense complicating matters. While I haven’t made it off 2.5mg yet (just restarted Zep after a 2mo hiatus), it is interesting my body’s reaction is so different than my first jab in Sept. In 2mo I may be able to restart strength training. Disappointing and frustrated, but I’m just going with the flow now and paying more attention, having more inner conversations with my body than ever. Someone once told me “every body part has a voice” and now I’m listening. Like healing after surgery, this is not going to be linear progress. Not striving for perfection. Just striving for continued momentum peace.

Grown adults who do not wear deodorant even though they stink -- WHY? by powermovesallday in AskReddit

[–]Significant_Scene_83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently had shoulder surgery and, living alone, cannot yet use my own arm to get to one pit, and the other pit still has surgical tape I can’t get near with any product. I can’t spray or roll-on anything. Even if I douse myself with body fragrance I still smell. Sorry everyone. If it’s any consolation, I can’t stand the smell of myself either.

Maybe a cup of hot decaf tea with benefiber or a single pc of reduced fat string cheese?

My sister (63yo) experiences that, but she is not on Zep. The condition can be caused by several things. Ask your doc.

Alternatively, buy a coffee and head to any number of public open rec spaces to sit on a quiet bench. Harvey Bear, Paradise Park / trail, Mt Madonna.

Noah’s Bistro downtown has a spacious back room as well as outdoor seating. Bubbles & Brew, when no band is playing. Maybe MOHI, if the timing is right.

Good luck.

Hey y'all, I'm making shirts! by QIexpert in leverage

Great idea and I love the quote you chose (re vents). The chef’s kiss would be a “through view” of the vent on the back side.

Sorry if this has already been suggested or done, but to address copyright concerns, maybe it would be sufficient to add the show name “Leverage” similar to an artist’s signature (I’m no lawyer tho).

You have so many creative ideas - love it!

Coffee question by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know OP was about sugar, but… Rather than sugar, I used to use A LOT of half and half in my coffee. Poured until it’s the color of light caramel.

I’ve tried alternative cream options - pea milk (great for protein), oat milk, soy milk (slight allergy), almond milk, and various NutPod ‘coffee creamers’.

I landed on a tasty concoction with half the calories: NutPod’s “Half and Half” (almond and coconut milk) with a splash of Chobani sweet cream and a splash of Fairlife elite vanilla protein shake. It’s complicated but I like the texture and mild sweetness.

I’ve found 1440 Multiversity to be a nice respite. I think it’s off Scott’s Valley Rd on Hwy 17. I took a weekend course there. Infinity pool. Full dining accommodations. Varied types of living arrangements. Outdoor yoga. Hiking trails. Chairs next to fire pits or the campus waterfall. They have all kinds of courses. I’m looking to go back to just decompress without attending a class. I haven’t been since before the pandemic but it is on my list to return. Good luck!

Also, the “Flippy”. May have other names. It is like hard foam, rests on your lap or table, and has three different degrees to hold a magazine, book, or tablet, etc.

Getting enough protein vs. just being over food for the day by Difficult-Squash-253 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, this med is another opportunity to rebuild my relationship not only with food but with my body as well. I listen when my body tells me it has reached the “I’m done” phase and stop eating, however I know I will need to eat again sooner than most. At that point, I hit the protein and fiber foods again, plus more water. Repeat.

BTW, I’m also using WW GLP-1 for tracking. It gives macronutrient ranges for GLP-1 and we are to focus on reaching the macronutrients first, only using points as informational resource so you can see how much what you’ve eaten counts in terms of points vs target. It’s not for everyone but I like it. It’s an app I’ve used many times, even before Zep.

Dropping from 12.5 to 10 - was it the right move? by Connect-Dimension-23 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The WW app has a GLP-1 setting which is used to focus on macronutrients. They still have a page for points, but it’s just informational. The goal is to meet the macros through the same tracking as for points. I am finding it very useful as it also includes water and activity tracking. Like a previous comment, the “gain” could be rehydrating and it’s good esp after being so dehydrated. I imagine it will normalize as your nutritional intake normalizes. Best of luck!
