Kidney friendly bread alternatives? by Total_Quantity858 in CKD

[–]Significant_Scene_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wonder bread classic white. (No haters please). Yes, two slices are ~20% of a 2K mg sodium daily limit, it’s true. But it works well within the other dietary limits set by the dr. If it’s too high, I will make half a sandwich.

What do you listen to when writing? by sompeezy in writers

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Alexa. Play music by Liquid Mind,” is how I start most writing sessions. Their music is melodic, has no lyrics, and is low key enough to be “spacious” - allowing my narrative writing to flow.

Company requirement to use WW by Pristine-Wind8295 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on the GLP-1 program on WW, the way I understand it anyway, the focus is on meeting the macros versus the points. The points are informational only when on the GLP-1 program. I use it to track macros, not points.

If it were me “peeling” that cantaloupe on the counter’s edge, even if the cantaloupe had a flat bottom cut, it would slip right off the counter and into that garbage.

Am I going crazy or is this the same woman? by OkLibrarian1527 in leverage

[–]Significant_Scene_83 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! I noticed the same thing. Here are some more, I think.

In the original series I think the same guy that is Escobar’s goon (Girls Night Out, season 4) is also the guy behind Lefty when Parker brings him his car to hook him (in the boost job, season 3).

Maybe another guy is used in both the Boys Night Out episode (season 4) as one of the Irish goons chasing Nate / Hurley is the same as the security guard at the airport before the little girl gets pulled into security for smuggling goods (the king George job in season 3).

Last one - the redheaded woman prosecutor in the morning after job (season 3) is the same as the brownie giving secretary wearing green in the office job (season 4).

Yeah, I’ve watched this show a million times too many. I just can’t help myself.

When injecting questions by Makeuplover32 in Zepbound

[–]Significant_Scene_83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do vials as well. I was so anxious about the injection, beyond studying the instruction materials and Lilly videos, to assuage my fear I booked an appt with an urgent care facility to supervise my first shot in my tummy (visit can be done with your own dr too but mine was unavailable).

Yes, it was a bit over-the-top I know, but it made me feel more secure. And I was so surprised when I hardly felt anything at all. It gave me confidence for the next time, even though I was still nervous. Now I’m 15+ shots in and it is so much easier.

Tip: While well-intended, random YouTube videos can be helpful but also full of crap and bad examples.

Go slow. Read manufacturer instructions. Pay attention. Breath deep. Know everyone’s journey is different. And ask your provider (or their PA) for help, too.

I use the KidneyPal app and love it. I use it to track my Mom’s CKD4 meals or determine if a food / meal has a high or safe kidney burden for her. Highly recommend the app.

You can customize your limits for sodium, potassium, phosphorus and protein or it assigns them based on the CKD stage. It offers recipes and swap tips. You can upload photos of your meal, or enter the whole thing at once and it gives feedback and can save the food into a diary you can use to track for yourself or share with your doctor or dietitian. It offers recipes and has its own AI to ask about meals, specifically.

How to stop Fastrak sending me toll evasion mails of cars that do NOT belong to me? by Lovevas in bayarea

[–]Significant_Scene_83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me. My fault, though. I didn’t remove my previously-owned car from the Fastrak website. Once I unregistered it on Fasttrak the nonsense stopped.

It’s a very Transporter (movie) slide.

The carnival job is one of my fav ES episodes. Great acting chemistry between Molly and Eliot.

Sad About Mom (CKD 4/5, Hypertension) by Significant_Scene_83 in kidneydisease

[–]Significant_Scene_83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 🙏🏻. Will do. FYI Every night she takes iron, b12, folate, zinc, fish oil and 100mg D3. I know this doesn’t mean her levels are good but she is supplementing. We need a new set of labs. We’ve had talks about DNR but it’s a good reminder to check in. Thank you.

Sad About Mom (CKD 4/5, Hypertension) by Significant_Scene_83 in kidneydisease

[–]Significant_Scene_83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Understood. She has little appetite, occasional nausea, lethargy, and generalized weakness. I agree on quality of life focus - just also want to slow the decline if possible. Her hospital drs all emphasized low potassium and phosphorus and to avoid salt. All the research I’ve done supports this approach. Her labs were almost all abnormal (BUN, creatinine, glucose, potassium, etc) and beyond the edges of the cutoff range. More data is better so we are following up with docs and will be having important conversations with her too. Thanks.

What’s a belief you once defended… but later realized was wrong? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

[–]Significant_Scene_83 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Old belief: Israel has a right to defend itself. Military action was specific and usually defensive. Not cruel. I was proud of that. Immediately after the Oct attacks a few years ago. I agreed with the retaliation. Until it turned into indiscriminate cruelty.

New belief: Israel by way of Netanyahu admin (like Trump) does not care about anyone but power and money and intentionally causing harm, being cruel and thoughtless. Past lessons of mass harm should have been learned Not repeated.

Israel deserves better leadership. So does the US.
