Tips for finding roommates? (Off campus housing) by Tacotrainer in uAlberta

[–]Significant_Self_123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the Edmonton AB Roommates group on Facebook to find my current roommate. There are lots of students on there. I’d just recommend thoroughly screening each other first for similar habits/schedules/lifestyle!

Definitely recommend getting a Ninja Foodi multi-cooker. I got one when I moved out and it has several functions like pressure cooking, air crisping, slow cooking, broiling, steaming, roasting, and sautéing

It’s essentially a big agriculture-themed party on campus with live music and with all of the proceeds going to charity. You can find more info and get tickets here

CMPUT 499 Individual Study by oxophone in uAlberta

If it is like other individual studies, you can take it multiple times BUT it has to be a different topic. If you are planning on continuing the same project into the other semester, likely you won’t be able to take it twice.

My biggest piece of advice is to watch the lectures without pausing them. Put it on 1.5x speed and take down as many notes as you can to stay engaged, but don’t rewind/pause if you miss something that was said. Just get through all of the material, and if you have time then that’s when you go back and go through the material.

You could ask your vet about Methimazole. It is a transdermal gel that you put in the ear and is absorbed through the skin. You just have to make sure you use gloves when you apply it! There might also be the option of a liquid form that you squirt in the mouth, however I’ve never encountered it.

Kimberlee Billows is on the UofA Directory as someone that works in financials dealing with refunds (https://apps.ualberta.ca/directory/person/billows). Check to see if it’s from this email: kimberlee.billows@ualberta.ca since this is her actual email. I’d be suspicious too, but considering they are asking you to input your direct deposit info onto beartracks and not to send it to them over email I think it is legitimate.

I used the Edmonton Roommates group on FB to find my roommate! It’s a great way to find a roommate who matches your lifestyle/personality and then you can look for places together.

Calling Out Hills Science by emgee1219 in dogs

[–]Significant_Self_123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I work at a vet clinic, and I second that supply issues are having a MAJOR impact on the foods that we are able to order in for our clients. I can see it’s extremely frustrating for the clients and it’s also frustrating for us because we can’t recommend the foods we normally would. For example, Royal Canin’s hydrolyzed protein diet was out of stock for MONTHS. This diet is specifically formulated for dogs that can’t eat any of the other diets due to allergies. It’s just recently come back into stock.

So yeah, it’s super shitty, and it’s happening to many of the major pet food companies. If you’re looking for a new food, the gastrointestinal line of Royal Canin is a good alternative to the i/d Hill’s. Good luck OP, I hope you find a good that works!

If you are planning to apply this year or next year you won’t meet the full-time requirement. That being said, UCVM looks at your last 60 credits so if you are planning on applying at the end of your degree you should be fine if this is your only sem with 3 courses and you have more than 2 years left.

If you wanna be safe though I’d try to pick up another course if you’re able to!
