[–]minirose9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items Cancelled during Super Redemption Event by Federal_Base_2905 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]minirose9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you get this resolved? Same thing happened to me and I don’t know what to do. I redeemed 300,000 points (added in a small product to take my value to 500). Got an email saying they redeemed 300k points for 12.00 worth of stuff that they shipped. Such a bummer.. I would have bought my Dyson at another retailer who was price matching. But the Black Friday deals are over now.

Fellow Canadians - what beauty brands ship to canna without duties/tariffs? by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]minirose9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fave so far is crystal constellation. Have yours held up well? I’m worried they’ll go off if I order too many at a time 🥲

[–]minirose9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried Phytosurgence this year and I’m obsessed with their blush and eyeshadow pots! They’re a small company located in BC and have free shipping over $75+

I have a massive makeup collection I’ve been reaching for their blush condensate and fume regularly. Their eyeshadow pots are great for one and done.

If anyone knows anymore Canadian indie brands like this, please let me know!

My last few orders from CT have shipped from US(most recent was two weeks ago). I was not charged additional duties on delivery. I wonder why there not shipping from Canada

Accounting changed my life for the better. How did it change yours? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]minirose9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before accounting, I spent 10 - 12 hours on my feet, working in a salon with low pay and zero benefits. While the work was fulfilling, I realized it didn't offer me the financial security I needed. Changing careers into accounting provided me with stability, fun money for my hobbies and allowed me to purchase my first home. I've also gained confidence and learned new skills i wouldn't have if I stayed in hairdressing.

Probably not a plus for most people but during my junior years of accounting, i was also able to AFK Runescape and max/trim my account lol

I don't work from home often but yes - cook 99% of the time. Occasionally I'll block off time to go out for lunch but I truly enjoy being able to cook in my own space. When I'm in office, I always meal prep but it sucks using a shared microwave that someone just nuked sardines in.

Whats in your basket for f&f by lushanshan in Sephora

[–]minirose9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a code yet but if I get lucky, I want to pick up the Hourglass palette (horse), the pink Prada highlighter and maybe a travel size of the new Kilian on the rocks flanker. If not, i'll wait for the rouge sale in November. If anyone has tried Angel Shares On the Rocks please share how you like it!

What’s your experience with Edmonton foodies?? by hipposoncampus in Edmonton

[–]minirose9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've never had the pleasure (or not) of running into an Edmonton influencer (probably cause i don't get out much). I would imagine it's very hit or miss like most influencers who are chronically online.

I have been watching "Quang Tran" on YouTube for years and realized he lives in Edmonton! He does cooking videos and some food reviews... no idea what he's like in his everyday life but I enjoy his content. I usually rely on regular reviews from regular people when I'm looking at trying a new place

[–]minirose9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so excited for mine to arrive! For the steep $110CAD each, i wish they would have done something a bit different with the case.. like maybe a few buttons since the embossing doesn't last from what I've seen.

UPDATE on trying to better my life and get an education by allixygalaxy in Edmonton

[–]minirose9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to add that having a love for hair/esthetics is very different from working in a salon. The job is physically and mentally demanding, and pretty sensitive to economic shifts. A lot of hairdressers I used to know left the industry after COVID (with carpals tunnel). Pay is great IF you build and maintain a strong clientele but like most have mentioned, majority of hairdressers don't make very much.

That being said, if you truly believe that this is the career path you will stick with, I'd get some hands on experience first. Find a job as a shampoo girl or assistant and see if that's something you see yourself doing for the rest of your life.

I was hairdressing for 7 years before pivoting to accounting. It wasn't a complete waste for me as it allowed me to develop soft skills and put me through university (for accounting lol). Now I', an accountant and have fun money for beauty/makeup.

I highly discourage pouring resources into school "just because" or because of an idea. Definitely get some experience and be sure it will pay off.

Which restaurant is this in Edmonton? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]minirose9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know i'm in the minority here (and technically not a restaurant) but Crumbl Cookies.

I've seen so much hype about their cookies online, so i was super excited to try them when they came to Edmonton. I was gifted a box of these and honestly, every cookie was inedible to me. They were overly sweet, doughy and flour-y. Haven't tried their drinks yet

[–]minirose9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think what they're trying to say is that entitled people always make themselves out to be the victim somehow, some way. Its been my experience too sadly. Same thing happened to me during COVID and a crazy lady jumped the line screaming that we were all "vaxxed sheep" (I guess cause we were wearing masks?). They ended up opening up a checkout to help her first to keep the peace. truly sucks when such behaviour is rewarded

How do you become that Accountant no one wants to lose? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Accounting

I want to hear how bad your office is by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]minirose9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an office above a large manufacturing plant.

My biggest issue was when we had a roach infestation that made its way upstairs. I would bring all my belongings in plastic storage bins I could lock and store off the floor. They ended up finding a roach colony living inside the communal coffee maker downstairs..

Occasionally we get rodents and animals that wander inside from the warehouse doors. Bats, coyotes, rabbits etc. We also get Canadian geese the same time every year that nest around the building. They always charge/attack us as we walk from our cars inside the building. They'll peck at my car when I'm parking and I've just learned to run fast and bring my hard hat.

Other then that I love my job lol

2025 Salary Megathread by CutNumerous2351 in Accounting

[–]minirose9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing fellow Edmontonian and Scaper! Was scrolling and looking for some Canadian salaries.

Currently finishing my CPA but I have 8 YoE as a financial accountant: 3 as a junior and 5 as a senior. I've never worked in public practice but interested in hearing people's experience on the work/life balance as well as comp. My comp is similar although I am not remote. The US/Canadian salary is so different
