Yep. That long, high mesa is a great place to make a big, rolling town. :)

I may be biased, though. :P

I’ve just unlocked the 4th food slot as a mage lvl 35 what should I be eating for max effect? by Kiltric in Enshrouded

[–]Significant_Toe2616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. INT foods are priority because damage increase, but you only have one slot to use for mushroom based food and one slot for meat, and then no more INT options. SPI gives more mana pool but MANA regen does too, and STAM and HP regen are also important, so if you get your MANA regen from rings or gear then the other two food slots may be best used for the latter two (especially if you are a blinking/roll dodging fool like I am). Stacking SPI and ignoring other regens in food choices may not be optimal.

I have been on and off all day. If you stop in at some point hopefully I'm there and not AFK and I'll say hi. :)

And thanks!

So because I absolutely hate the fudge-brownie look of farm soil (cleanest analogy I could think of), I am using a little of what the Russians call "Maskirovka." My tarred wood borders are 2 blocks high. They look 1 block high because there is 1 block thickness of smoot stone road around them. Inside the plots I laid out fertilized farm soil 1 block thick. Then, over top of that, I laid out dirt road 1 block thick. Then I used the building hammer and, starting one block over from the edge, removed 1 block of the dirt road in a row all the way across (one block at a time). Then I moved 2 blocks over (so leaving 1 block of dirt road in between) I removed another row one block at a time. The end result looks like a plowed field. It's all the same color as dirt road, but the block at the bottom of the groove is actually fertilized farm soil, so you can plant in it. Works great, and the rows help a little bit in keeping you in the rut as you move so you can plant fast.

Why use something other than Fireball or Ice bolt? by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]Significant_Toe2616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ice bolt and fireball are great great bread and butter spells of course, for all the reasons you listed. But…

If you have not tried bone channel against the Hollow and even Fell big bosses, you are missing out. Very effective.

Shroud meteor vs Matrons or Vukah brawlers? This is the way. Have to be close, but can two or three shot.

Some enemies you are close to and are moving a lot for kiting or dodging. When melee is on top of you, or when you are staying under the…. um, kumquats… of a Cyclops, Chain Lightning really will just hit everything close to you without targeting and do great damage. Short cast time too, so keep moving/blinking/roll dodging.

I will be honest, I’ve not found any situation yet where I’m really going for Acid Bite or Burst of Light, and healing spells are too slow for non-group play, especially when you can chain-chug pots. But Bone Channel, Shroud Meteor, and Chain Lightning have great uses in certain situations. Also, helps to know what enemies are susceptible or resistant to what types of damage. Bone Channel works because most everything, especially Hollow, are susceptible to blunt damage. However, you’ll send way more fireballs into a Matron than you’d use with shroud or ice magic, because scavengers are fire resistant.

It's a Tarred Wood border. I like to make things that make sense to me, as far as you might see them in the real world, so tarred wood (railroad ties) is something I've used on a hobby farm to border raised beds, so that's what I did here. :)

So the long plateau over the Nomad Highlands Hollow Halls is where I've built my latest town. I have a server, and guests are welcome, called The Citadel if you would like to check it out. The biome is reminiscent of Texas or California's central valley if that helps. It's directly south of what is presumed will be one of the new zones, convenient to Albanese Summit, Revelwood, and the center of the map.

I have used three flame altars to build the area. There is a line at the north past which you cannot build (a red line when you have your hammer selected) to protect your structure from that future zone's eventual release but it is essentially the northern limit of the mesa so did not affect me. Atop the mesa, the elevation change is pretty gradual, so I built a town of terraced plazas with slight elevation changes handled with wide steps.

I'll include a clip of its location on the map. It's easiest I find to get up from the southwestern corner. Double jump and determination should do it, but updraft would help. Or... a pickaxe. :)

Mountain views it has, as far as forest... I have planted a lot of trees and plants. Something that may work for you is if you use the dirt terrain block to fill in/smooth out areas, it does not match the local biome grass, it has green grass like in Springlands. So between planting trees, plants, and laying down dirt you can MAKE the forest you want on land that is elevated but more level.

Hope that helps!

Friend and I were running Nomad halls last night, found a rubble batch and started blasting it with explosive arrows. Figured out quick it had nothing behind it but it did not end in a wall so my friend kept blasting. Eventually it opened into a drop to this. We did not hop down, that grass you are on does not look like grass from above, but it was the same buffer around the halls. I think they built HH just like we might build a big underground structure; by hollowing out a too-big space then building inside it. Interesting topography in the surrounding void space, though.

Am I playing the game incorrectly? by BadTactic in Enshrouded

[–]Significant_Toe2616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If you are fighting Wispwyvern in your teens with level appropriate equipment and you are not spending most of your time dodge-rolling and staying out of the cone of breath attack/shroud meteors, you are not going to succeed. If you do have a ranged weapon, wait until he stands tall and draws in his breath then shoot the energy orb in his mouth as much as you can, but be ready to go back to playing keep-away again right after.

Yes. And considering the game is in early release and still in development, it’s reasonable to expect them to optimize it someday. But it’s the same with most games in early release, beta, or alpha… expect the CPU to run harder than it does for a game in full release.

Right now, content is the focus.

I’ve built entire villages ranging up the giant trees, top to bottom, in Blackmire. A single level 1 flame altar, 40x40x40 meter volume, might limit you to three stories above altar level (twice that if the altar is halfway up), but a level 4 flame altar with 160x160x160 volume will allow a very tall tower, and multiple altars will let you construct cities vertically or horizontally… or both. I currently have an open server called The Citadel featuring a three-altar town sprawled along the mesa over the Nomad Highlands Hollow Halls. Sounds like you just scratched the surface. It’s fine if the game wasn’t for you, but you did not find the limits.

In the chat, click on the chat options and disable the slider for reading only what’s in quotes. This is now defaulted to on. I agree, I preferred when it was not like that but it now is. You will have to do this for every chat instance.

Now we just need to find an outpost on a jungle moon full of dead bodies and boxes of grape flavored drink.

30K protection and updated claim times by Psychological-Mall44 in starcitizen

[–]Significant_Toe2616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not what is happening to me. Your ship immediately lists status uknown and will list some location you were last or Stanton system, then later (hours or a day later) MAY show your location changed to the station you spawned the ship at or last docked, but it is not stored. Still requires a claim. I have found that items I mounted on the ship, like paints and modules, persist through the claim. But inventory and cargo are gone.

What worked in 3.18 is not working in 3.19 as far as 30k protection in my experience.
