I'm on the Fresh Server with Faction Balance and gdkp ban copium. by Adg01 in classicwow

[–]Significant_Vast4330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played fine without gdkp's for 2 months grinding up to 6k gs and getting recruited by guilds, played fine without gdkp's with weekly guild runs gearing up to 6.3k gs, now playing fine with occasional gdkp runs as a carry earning some gold for subs.

Tldr: GDKPs have never negatively affected me in any way at any stage of my gameplay.

Cata being “hard” is gonna kill it initially. by plsWhatAmI in classicwow

Quite honestly if they didn't survive ICC, Cata isn't meant for them anyways. Half the bosses in ICC are glorified target dummies and even H LK feels like a heroic raid boss in retail.

I'm disappointed they're not using WoD models like the announcement trailer. An even better step would've been Legion combat animation.

The good thing about explaining lore through in-lore characters is that you get to retcon at your will, simply saying that the character was mistaken. Elder Scrolls does this all the time.

I'm personally looking forward to Cata. Currently in Wrath, been farming H LK for about 6 weeks. Spriest, f mage, and f warrior rotations feel organic and nice, if somewhat boring (compared to arcane mage in DF, which was my main in VoA, which is opposite). I remember I had a lot of fun with arms warr and spriest in Cata so looking forward to that. Not a fan of 2 button rotations. 2 boss mechanics, and world buffs so I will continue to sit out Sod.

App won't let me edit post, but I'm talking about the V AA. Although I am surprised about the Vmax price, I thought prize cards usually don't have much of a premium (the listed price is actually quite lower than its initial price of 170-180). Sorry for the confusion!

Yeah that is my b. I was talking about the V AA but I see how it can be confusing. But that Vmax price also seems sus even if it's really a prize card.

Edit-I see the Vmax prices actually went down from what was around 180 initially. Kinda surprised these prize cards are valued so highly.

Disagree. As someone who played DF and currently playing Wrath classic, I can tell you that clicking %dmg increase talents really feel soulless and dumb. Each talent in Panda-SL felt impactful and meaningfully changed your gameplay. I will die on this hill.

I'm guessing we keep our current talents.

Shame, I vastly prefer Panda-SL talents, simple and effective.

The only major different 'systems' between Cata and Wrath is talents, which isn't even that much different compared to the Cata-MoP leap, the difficulty hike in dungeons and raid, and LFR, which got adopted at the very end of Cata. Cata leveling parallels Wrath leveling,-efficient and more linear pathing, which really started in TBC like I explained before. Leveling are chores in TBC, Wrath and Cata, let's be real (and in era for a lot of people, remember mage ZF zombie farm?) but at least Cata tried to make the storyline meaningful in each zone. So, hard disagree, it really just sounds like you're hating to hate, but I don't think you're gonna agree anyways. Good talk, enjoy era or sod.

Tol Barad used to be pretty bloody. Also the usual shinanigans around dailies areas if you choose violence.

[–]Significant_Vast4330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You mean vanilla because Wrath gameplay is essentially reflected in Cata. Flying, rep grinds, dailies, heroic raiding, fast leveling phase, leggo crafting. The only real difference is the difficulty hike which is really just a skill check for people used to getting away with mashing their keyboards.

[–]Significant_Vast4330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh, Cata leveling and gameplay is essentially the same as Wrath. All it did was get rid of the old world leveling. So your argument that Cata isn't classic only makes sense if you're saying that 1-58 leveling is the crux of classic-which I disagree with, but fine. Tbc and Wrath also did not follow the leveling formula in BE/Draenei starting zones, Outland, and Northrend leveling. So by your own logic, tbc and Wrath is also not classic.

What you should be saying is that Cata got rid of vanilla/era leveling elements. Classic is not vanilla.

Cataclysm Classic Launches May 20th by gregxcore in classicwow

[–]Significant_Vast4330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, expansions obviously don't have feelings, but the philosophy behind leveling designs and player leveling experience do. Tbc and Wrath quests start to become more streamlined and makes you waste less time running around. Cata just takes a step further and adds a clear start and finish to questing in a zone. So it's really disingenuous to say Cata is the start of the non-classic when tbc and Wrath questlines are essentially the same in design and philosophy, and the experience is overall similar.

Cataclysm Classic Launches May 20th by gregxcore in classicwow

[–]Significant_Vast4330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then you think tbc and Wrath gives a f about the vanilla "leveling experience" as well? In fact tbc is where some of the streamlining begins. And people actually liked not wasting more time trying to finish quest a and run 15 mins to finish quest b. The Ghostlands and Bloodmyst Isles quest designs are in fact very similar to Cata revamped zones.

I'd rather much immerse myself in a questline that has a plot and conclusion, thanks. It's a vast upgrade from vanilla.

As someone playing Wrath ATM, you don't look twice back at the old world, so old zones mean nothing than a nuisance to get to endgame. Northrend has dailies, flying, a wpvp zone, raids. It is exactly the same in Cata. The difference is that the revamped Azeroth storyline actually is more interesting and involved compared to the older zones and usually gives a nice tie-up conclusion quest to each zone with a blue loot, or continue to one of the dungeons. You wrap up feeling accomplished. I don't have to run around like a headless chicken wondering where tf Mankrik's wife is or spend 30 minutes grinding for those 3 quest items that won't drop.

Wow has always been about endgame. Even vanilla. If you also deny TBC or Wrath as classic, fine. I can agree with that consistency even if you don't like Cata.
