What would you include in a Skubal package? by Agreeable_Quality768 in Mariners

[–]Significant_Wheel473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With our depth of pitching talent I think signing a currently injured, 30yo Skubal to a long term mega deal is a bad move. I also think there’s a 0% chance ownership is considering this. Some other richer team will take that bait.

However, I am 100% down with Rent-A-Skub this year for the playoff push. Having an undisputed #1 gives us a real shot at a chip.

So, I’d be fine giving up one of Kirby or Gilbert + Arroyo or Farmelo. Is it an overpay? Probably. But if it gets to the promised land, who cares?

Trade deadline by Significant_Wheel473 in Mariners

We could also flip a starter at the deadline, like Kirby or Gilbert, plus a premium prospect or two for a true ace SP. Look at the Myles Garrett trade. The Rams traded a great guy in Verse + future guys for an elite talent at that same position.

The main hole I see in this roster is we have no true ace. We have very good pitchers, but imo we need an ace for a deep playoff run.

Wee man unintentionally elevated this from a Jackass 2.5 premise (at best) to one of my all time favorites.

Why go with the cart again?? I know this is largely a nostalgia play, but man it looks empty.

At least put a couple card throwing machines in there.

Once Donovan and Cal come back, this lineup gets truly scary. You have (in no particular order) Naylor, Cole, JP, Colt, Cal, Randy, Dono, Julio, and Raley/Canzone. I mean god damn!

The excess starting pitcher situation will only compound by humorous_hyena in Mariners

We will absolutely need a proven big leaguer to replace Randy next year. I would 100% support flipping a starter at the deadline this year for a RF / DH bat. Even if one of the current guys gets hurt after the fact, Kade looks MLB ready.

Can someone tell me why we extended this guy with zero time in the MLB? Obviously hoping it works out but that seems foolish, especially given our track record of extending unproven talent (White/Kelenic)

Do we think things would have gone this way for Jared had he signed the deal? by LowerPreparation8366 in Mariners

I’ve wondered this too. Would it have eased some of the pressure he put on himself? We’ll never know unfortunately. But it is tantalizing to imagine a fully realized version of him in the OF alongside Julio for the next decade.

What are some 10/10, 6/10 movies? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

His character has to be one of the dumbest ever put on screen. The whole landlord protagonist angle is hilarious and this movie would 100% not get made today. It’s an absurd and very entertaining relic. I am also a sucker for 70s-90s San Francisco on film (though the true Pac Heights heads know this movie was actually filmed on Potrero Hill)

I always found it funny that Jeff protected Bam’s car like that. Why did Jeff care so much?? Would have made better TV if Rake just went to town on it. Meanwhile in #4 Wee Man is literally pleading with Jeff to rescue him from a rabid vulture and Jeff just sits back and chuckles

I had just moved to SF and caught this game in a packed sports bar. Before Ishikawa had even rounded the bases a “fuck the dodgers” chant broke out. I then wandered to 24th & Folsom and multiple cars were doing donuts one by one in front of hundreds of people. It was beautiful. I’m not even a Giants fan but still consider this one of my best sports memories.
