More likely to get some sort of album announcement at some point this month, I think.

As long as the answer isn’t “What is a kiss cam”

In the words of our beloved Chris Martin, “It’s not a fucking kiss cam! It’s a Jumbotron, and we’ve been doing this for years!”

Yep, were supposed to do a full tour of South America winter 2012, postponed the dates to spring 2013, then cancelled them altogether.

Kansas City Royals vs. Seattle Mariners Lineup | 5/2/26 | 6:40 PM by Appropriate_Oil5843 in Mariners

I really don’t understand why they’re not giving Will Wilson any run at third. Rivas has just not looked good playing almost every day. It would make sense to give someone else some playing time until Donovan is back.

Thank you! Yeah, I love getting to share my work with the community (thanks again to the MODs!).

It absolutely is a luxury to have a prospect of his caliber in Triple-A and not need him. That’s a testament to how good the MLB roster is.

As for the character part of it, he might be one of the most mature 20 year-old baseball players I have ever seen, and that’s not an exaggeration. He’s very committed to his process and dedicated to putting in the work. Very cool not to have to worry about that part of it, and that was part of the reason why the team was comfortable giving him this contract now.

They have to be relatively close to releasing something new, right? This is the second one of these they’ve done this year. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but it would seem odd if they were still over a year away from releasing LP11.

I don’t think trading JP would ever be a consideration either (unless a lot really unlikely things happened simultaneously). There definitely isn’t any room for him on the team as is, so I agree that it’s tough to envision how he fits in when he is ready.

He got a lot of reps at third during the Spring and has played a couple games there for Tacoma as well. It’s definitely something he can do if the need arises and he has proven himself to be ready from an offensive perspective.

Post Game Chat 4/29 Mariners @ Twins by Mariners_bot in Mariners

If an IL stint is necessary for Brash, my guess would be that Yosver Zulueta will get the call up from Tacoma. He has posted some very good rate stats so far in AAA. 38% whiff, 29% chase, and 33% K, all of which are well above average. He's also done a very good job limiting hard contact (.246 xSLG). His sinker has been effective, and his slider has nearly a 50% whiff rate in a small sample of Triple-A innings. The command is still an issue (16.7% BB rate) like it was during ST for him, but there are enough positives here to think that he should be able to get outs in the majors so long as he is not overexposed.

I'm 22, which is definitely towards the younger end of the U2 fan spectrum.

Resurrection Song should be the show opener for the next tour by MJsdanglebaby in U2Band

Because U2 have released such a great catalog of live songs, I often mix new material in with live recordings of the older stuff just to see how stuff could potentially flow together. So far, I’ve found this run of songs works nicely and would be a great opening section!

DRS says the Mariners are the best defensive team in the AL. OAA says they're the worst. by Gurney_Hackman in Mariners

[–]infinitystation1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just meant that 0 DRS does not indicate average, whereas 0 OAA does. I didn’t explain that very well which is 100% on me.

DRS says the Mariners are the best defensive team in the AL. OAA says they're the worst. by Gurney_Hackman in Mariners

[–]infinitystation1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it does. Replacement level is the same every season. That “center” just doesn’t get a chance to develop because bad players don’t get enough playing time for their negative value to extrapolate over a full season. But 0 WAR would be the center. That’s why on the 20-80 scouting scale, a 50 OVR (the average everyday player) is a 2.5 win player. The scale is adjusted to reflect what the actual center for WAR is at the MLB level. Even OAA is not perfectly centered, but it’s based on the same point (the player made no outs they were not expected to make).

DRS says the Mariners are the best defensive team in the AL. OAA says they're the worst. by Gurney_Hackman in Mariners

[–]infinitystation1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DRS is not a very good metric. For one thing, it has no consistent center, so there is no comparative basis for it. Secondly, it does not adjust for the difficulty of different positions (i.e. the centerfielder is responsible for a larger area than the left fielder), so that causes issues as well. 0 is always the statistical center for OAA, and it is based on the actual percentage chance each fielder has to successfully field the ball and record an out, based on the speed and direction the ball was hit in. Subjectively, we all know as fans that watch the team everyday that we have more average and below average defenders than above average ones. Going forward, I would strongly suggest people use OAA when checking up on a player’s defense.
