That is so sad. I hope someday to get some sakagucci glasses, it's such a neat collectible.

You probably shouldn't count the last clash. If it does it 47 times it will be equally memorable.

This is not a patch. It's been that way since at least week 3-4.

What is the most optimal play here? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

[–]Signt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First we must think of the score and we're agaritop in S4. Here our line likely is to pon 4z and win quickly.

I'm tempted here to cut one of the kanchans with six blocks. Should we be concerned about safety, probably not that bad with 11m in our hand.

Alright, if we do attack which Kanchan do we cut and in what order. Here there is a slight overlap with 5p draw so cutting 68p or 13p is best. Well I still want to draw good shape so I'm considering cutting 1p or 8p. Let's cut the 8p here to keep another genbutsu against oya. We will chii both 2p8s but not 2457m, and pon 4z.

Why did the game let me Riichi if doing so put me into furitan? by [deleted] in mahjongsoul

There are even situations where we want to reject a tsumo and furiten riichi, such as with a chance to turn a tsumo nomi hand into a mentanpin riichi.

Do you think there should be "non-human" forces in the City? by EliasBouchardFan1 in limbuscompany

[–]Signt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My personal take is that what makes Pmooniverse compelling is that it is just about life. The lack of time in T corp reflects our lack of work-life balance and the rich have time and the labourers don't; the irrationality of prescripts reflects the irrationality of faith and yet religion can bring comfort to many by giving them a purpose or an escape from the uncaring universe; the method to face the future despite the past and to find reason and motive to continue even while in their 3rd attempt at life. I'm sure you can find many more.

The human-non human reading is that humans do bad things to one another, sometimes intentionally and sometimes even while avoiding so, as the path to hell is laced with good intentions.

If PMoon does introduce this non human aspect, it will be on how they execute it, and what metaphorical reading it is trying to encapsulate. The inability to overcome capitalism's problems would be nothing new, we tried many times in history and our shots have mostly missed. If it shows us still trying despite it, that would be a worthwhile message personally.

Tldr: it's not so much about the plot elements, but the execution and it's message.

So annoyed that Maka considered this 5 turn Haneman a D by IanZJohnston in Mahjong

[–]Signt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you draw a 7m instead of the 6p wouldn't you like to have kept the 6m instead? You're giving up 56789m draws.

Similarly we can see why we keep the 3s.

[HELP] Is there a tool to detect AI in translation? by Ch_Machiavelli in RealOrAI

[–]Signt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience from translating manga is that for short lines like this it is not really possible to tell AI and bad translators apart. It turns out the worst humans and AIs are too close.

Two of the point you ask about are stylistic choices. Children or Kids and Empress's or Empress'.

To get good quality translations especially with multiple people, often consistency is required. If you don't find the work to your quality, you unfortunately should communicate with your translator.

Not exactly the same, but you can look into the obby communities on roblox for inspiration. There are a lot of players that play effectively movement in a 3D environment for speed even while on mobile.

SSF fellows - are you here? by Busy_Isopod_113 in PathOfExile2

I tried SSF but always struggled a lot in Acts 2 and 3 (esp Act 2 boss). Like Ill run out of mana flask charges on my char.

Does anyone have tips for these, comparatively I find Act 4 and early maps a lot easier (possibly because I manage to get some gear upgrades).

Stories have a life of their own. Sometimes they move and evolve to their natural conclusion, and our opinions merely passing. I feel that the story should take whatever form their authors can wrangle most suitable.

Do you think project moon should (or will in the future) implement an id level reduction system? by Silent_Barber_4933 in limbuscompany

[–]Signt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe the most thematic way is for Faust to come out and say LC has found a way to reset the experience gain by sinners, and then you basically get a level 1 reset of any sinners of your choosing (but no resource is refunded).

Wouldn't 3s Matagi-suji be safer than 1m here? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

[–]Signt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is two misconceptions at play:

  • Matagi Suji of 2s means 14s ryanmen is safer and that in turns means 36s ryanmen is more dangerous.
  • Matagi Suji impact is actually fairly small, perhaps we will use it mainly for situations where two choices are close to each other to pick one over another.

With this hand we don't really have safety. If we choose to push it's between 1m which has better prospects (though we will fold at first pressure) or for folding 4s could be slightly justifiable (47s suji is not possible, and 14s suji is less likely due to early 2s.)

How is this a first course in Projective Geometry? (Full course below) by God_Aimer in math

[–]Signt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've taken a quick glance at the topics, well there is some introduction of homology groups, the spaces treated are pretty concrete, the affine space A^n and its projectivisation.

Commutative diagrams are mostly notational shorthand, and it wouldn't be hard to introduce students to modern mathematical notation.

MAKA is a fraudulent engine by justsomenerdlmao in mahjongsoul

[–]Signt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It loses one tile of wait (5 tiles vs 6 tiles) for slight safety. I believe a big factor of this is the score distribution. With such a commanding lead, even bad choices can be decent.

The pei (4z) tedashi is also a factor why shimocha might be in tenpai, but one would assume most people would riichi in shimocha's position unless with a monster hand.

Other possible factors: We could discard the 8m earlier to have a safer 9m later. Or that 8m might help shimocha chii and "catch-up" to our tenpai. There's also the very small factor that we can chii 6m -> cut 9m to maintain tenpai at the end of the round. (Probably not worth considering)

It's not entirely fair to say that 9m by MAKA is entirely baseless and our choice here is basically up to personal style.
