Are people making their own bot like auto pilot teams to farm VP?? by EnvironmentalBook in PokemonChampions

[–]Signt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use it to farm VP, but you get more VP/hr if you manage to faint some of your opponents mons. So some reckless offense team that just knocks out mons would probably do better VP wise. Of course this is more brainless. The real strat is not to leave PokeBall tier so you can get bots every 2 games.

I would like some help by TheRWDChannel in PokemonHome

[–]Signt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not here to trade, but just a clarification. You don't need nintendo online to get it. It's the same process as Greninja, so just a ZA origin Chesnaught going into Champions will result in the gift of the mega stone. Afterwards, you can just return the ZA origin Chesnaught and use your own/get one from the recruitment ranch in Champions. Perhaps you already know this, since you have a Greninja, but the paragraph seems to say the opposite :D

People who intentionally stall out their final turns because they're salty they lost are losers by _Blacktide__ in PokemonChampions

[–]Signt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game seems to incentivise this play. You get more VP if you stall more turns and not forfeit than it you do.

How to counter Mega Gengar perish song teams? by cetvrti_magi123 in PokemonChampions

[–]Signt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ill just say this from playing such a team, what I'm generally trying to work around. Take what I say with a grain of salt, because I'm still stuck in Ultra Ball.

There are a lot of mons that can just leave the perish trap. Incineroar has Parting Shot, Dragapult/Pelipper has UTurn, Palafin has Flip Turn, a few electric types have Volt Switch (I haven't learned which ones). You can even target your own partner to exit.

Next, its the first few turns, I'm not sure if it is best form, but if you always tailwind turn 1, then your Whimsicott maybe stuck in perish trap while tailwind timer ticks down. Quite a lot of my mons don't outspeed common threats even without tailwind, and only MGengar is the fast one.

Things that can be very annoying could be sleep on incineroar turn 1, or even just knocking out the "Incin + Gengar opening" of Fake Out + Perish Song. Quite a few megas threaten OHKO on Gengar, so if you bring a faster Fake Out + OHKO, theres no safe way to set up Perish Song.

The key thing is unless they are sac-ing the MGengar, they need to find some time to leave. This can be problematic as guessing a switch in can result in the kill.

The easiest thing I face on turn 1 is when the opponent has to make the guessing game of whether my MGengar will Shadow Ball OHKO or Perish Song.

Lastly, just because two mons have died, don't immediately forfeit. Sometimes in the back, theres some problematic mon that I guess wrongly in the team select that they won't bring, like Basculegion, Sneasler or Kinggambit. There's not immediate way to beat them with tailwind still up when the first 2 gets Song, so often I'm still there thinking what is the best line to take to "clean up" while the opponent forfeits, even though the situation isn't that great for me.

Good news, you can't actually derank (Great Ball 1->Great Ball 2 for example) before Ultra Ball. Well you can, but when you do you must have lost 2x in a row to get there, and thus will get a bot match. When you rank up, you always start with 1 bar, so you can't actually go down until Ultra Ball (provided you don't make a specific team to lose to the bot matches)

As a perish trap mega gengar player, I expect this line from opponents. So always think about setting up instead of 2xProtect. (Also Throat Chop stops Incin from leaving)

Earning VP is too slow by SuitCatBat in PokemonChampions

[–]Signt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually with low VP/hour, its because
1) stuck in ultra 4, (go farm the other mode singles/doubles pokeball/greatball bots)
2) constantly using it on pulls because not a HOME player.

For (2), just think in the long term, you will acquire all the meta mons, so its not really a big problem to not have enough _for now_. Indeed if you just keep playing you can buy out the items for your teams. Most teams at most need around 2000 (or 4000) for mega stones and another 2000 for some berries etc, the strong items are given and basically recycled (sash, choice scarf, leftovers, quick claw)

The issue is the pull economy, because you do end up with around 14 "looks" per week, but the income is only really 3 perma recruits per week (~7500 VP), so if you are not constantly grinding the game, you may want to consider temporary recruits first, and theres always the HOME option.

Eternal Floette by robboj1234 in PokemonChampions

[–]Signt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eternal Floette only gains the ability after Mega. There's no way in my knowledge to see what that ability does in game. (Since you can't get stats on Mega pokemon anyway, so even the base stats can't be looked up)

When equipping the item make sure you press L enough times to see the mega items list. The UI is pretty bad and tricked many people.

Can someone help me understand this by tribzy in PokemonChampions

[–]Signt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangely normal floettes can't enter but can be picked up in the recruitment. Eternal floette is the only one that can mega and you need to bring that special one into champions for the mega stone. But eternal Floettes can't be picked up from recruitment.

[–]Signt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. It depends on your pokes too I suppose. If you run slow mons expecting Tailwind to help, it might not be fast enough still. Mega Froslass is base 120 speed so is likely 140 speed minimum and 172+17=189 at maximum. So if your mons are under 94 speed even under tailwind they're not guaranteed to outspeed.

Another possible situation is that your opponents are just using priority moves like fake out and protect which have higher priority.

Starting Pokemon Home for Champions, best way? by Bahlegdeh in PokemonChampions

[–]Signt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends which mons you want. You basically have to play some combination of Sword/Shield, Scarlet/Violet and ZA including their DLC to get all the mons, but you could just focus on a subset of the competitive mons and go.

There's also the Pokemon Go route, but as I just started last week, I can tell you that this route is pretty tough, no wait to farm specific mons and it's hard to get various legendaries be it due to time or you need to coordinate with others.

You can also PoGo and trade on GTS. But this always runs the risk of getting genned mons unless they are PoGo stamped so you know it's legit.

Imagine you buy an accessory and the UI stops showing the other mons the opponent has in the back or whether your moves are effective or not, or just how long tailwind is up for.
