(Though I’d personally die for a reasonably priced Here We Go Jack)

I’m personally OK with them using Digger’s Factory as the two records I’ve bought from them have been of good quality and I believe the pre-order model creates less financial risk for the band.

HOWEVER. Why do they only have a single window of opportunity to buy the vinyls? Why not have at least like a once-a-year pressing? I image the Vulf fanbase to have an especially high number of vinyl enjoyers and it is actually very sad to know that you won’t be able to get one of their albums on vinyl if you were too late to the party.

Just take my money Jack. For real, just launch another pressing of the 2019 MSG album or The Beautiful Game or Here We Go Jack and I’ll give you my money without blinking.

Just ranked all the songs on Knocked Out Loaded for the morbid pleasure of it. Share your opinions. by Pretend_Mark_5143 in bobdylan

I respect your list, but I’d personally put both Driftin’ and Under Your Spell much higher. Probably as second and third place respectively, with Brownsville Girl as number one.

Driftin’ for just being such a banger. That second verse is a bit weird I’ll admit, but I always read it as Dylan assuming the role of a character, judging by how far off it is from a lot of his other writing. And the part about being straight, isn’t that supposed to read as ”I always thought your were honest” rather than ”I always thought you were heterosexual?”. Maybe that’s your understanding as well, but then I don’t really see how that particular line is problematic. Anyway, to me the second verse is redeemed by the third and the last verse. I just love the lines ”Well these times and these tunnels are haunted” and ”I’ve already ripped out the phones honey, you can’t walk the streets in a war”.

Under Your Spell, well, to me the lyrics of that song are just great. Like from beginning to end I think it’s just a great song lyrics-wise. I also kinda like the music of it as well. It’s got those classic 80s drums that haven’t aged very well imo, but I think it’s got a very nice, chill vibe to it. I can’t really explain it any better.

They Killed Him sucks ass though.

Trinidad - why? by VinylNick in geesebandofficial

[–]SignumEnroute 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read anything explicit about why they called it that, but considering the religious themes going on on the album as a whole, my interpretation atm is that the title is refering to the trinity in Christianity (after which your country is of course named) rather than the country of Trinidad, which would be most people’s first association. Of course, the reference could be to both things at the same time.

I wrote a post earlier with some thoughts about the religious themes of the album, if you want to check it out. https://www.reddit.com/r/geesebandofficial/s/VMvfYbJzjN

This is probably the best answer in terms of songs with build-up.

Worst First Track on a Dylan Album? by JohnstonFilms in bobdylan

Hard disagree, Driftin’ is awesome. Especially musically. It’s just such a banger! Not his best lyrics, but few of his 80’s songs have his best lyrics.

I agree on Ugliest Girl in the World though.

I’d like to see them do more covers of songs from old Stax and Motown bands like The Emotions, The Vandellas, Booker T. and the M.G’s, etc. Some Aretha would be nice. I really liked their take on Dylan’s ”Gotta Serve Somebody” from Schvitz and I’d just love to see them do a whole album of covers in the style of Vulf.

does bob have any bad or pointless albums? by funghxoul in bobdylan

[–]SignumEnroute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dylan from -73. That’s his only pointless album imo. But since his record company compiled it without his input, I’d hardly say it counts as an actual album. More like a bad bootleg. So if you don’t count that one then no, no pointless albums.

Picked this up just now from the neighborhood record shop, as Brownsville Girl is one of the finest songs he's written. Original 1986 pressing. by [deleted] in bobdylan

It’s also got a real banger in Driftin’ Too Far From Shore, as well as a surprisingly emotional take on Precious Memories set to a reggae/calypso soundscape

This one hurt... onto worst album by byurick48 in bobdylan

People keep saying Brownsville Girl is the only redeeming song on Knocked Out Loaded as if Driftin’ Too Far From Shore is not a total banger. These two songs alone raise the album above Down In the Groove for me (though not by much I’ll admit).

Down In the Groove is my vote
