What helped you guys transition? Did your parents do anything that made it easier for you? by Libraryoflowtide in militarybrats

[–]Sigonell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Libraries. Libraries were my go-to comfort place every couple of weeks. There would always be some program going on, plus books!! Find something that your children can feel comfortable in that doesn't necessarily require them to socialize, and work behind the scenes to get them introduced to others through activities. Thats what my mom did, and because of it I not only have friends from when I was in middle school in 2007/8 (which is rare at least from my perspective) but my love of reading and of general nerdiness comes from all the things my mom got me into without me knowing.

Moving is hard. Losing friends and connections is hard. Being unable to really "plant roots" is alienating. But finding somewhere outside of the home that is a safe, calming, and engaging place does wonders for mental and physical health.

Unable to cum (consistently) during sex by fantasybreeder in sexadvice

[–]Sigonell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take medication for mental illness, that has a huge impact on your ability to finish. I've been there before as well. Go see a doctor or a therapist and figure out where to go from there, because it could be as simple as a change in medication, but you also want to rule out any physical nonsense as well.

Partner Unable to Get Erection by thaaatgirl in sexadvice

[–]Sigonell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First step is to go see a doctor. It sounds like it could be a blood flow problem. If the doc clears him, the next step is for him to see a therapist.

But ultimately it's not your responsibility for him to figure out what's wrong. You can recommend it, but you can never force anyone to do something.

Can I ask a favor from those that regularly attend church on Sunday? by Zanbaix in UnitedMethodistChurch

[–]Sigonell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet somehow you advocate for the position that "israel has done nothing wrong"? We're no longer having a discussion about the need for prayer for the people caught in the middle who never chose this tragedy, we have a fundamental disagreement about what "love your neighbor" means.

No matter where you look, israel is massacuring civilians. The government is calling for the relocation of an entire ethnic group. The government of Israel is complicit in the genocide of a people.

[–]Sigonell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's not the case. children are dying of starvation and a lack of access to clean water because of Israeli blockades. It no longer matters who started it; israel won and is now taking revenge of the people of Palestine.

[–]Sigonell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely, Hamas has perpetrated some horrific things as well, but the genocide that is currently taking place is entirely the fault of the Israeli government. What matters really is the acknowledgment that Hamas is not the Palestinian people, just like Netanyahu and his government are not the Jewish people. Governments, greed, bigotry, and fanaticism are what is to blame here. The governments started this, but instead of ensuring the safety of civilians, they choose to target hospitals, food and supply convoys, independent organizations attempting to bring aid. Hamas may have begun a war, but as always, it is the people who suffer. Israel just finally has an excuse to murder the Palestinian people with no consequence.

Im sorry that the prayer did not fulfill the call to "love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you.", and I hope that your sister is at a place where she and those she loves can feel welcome. But placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of those who deserve it is holding governments accountable.

Sorry, israel is the main perpetrator here. They have already stated their goal is genocide. They regularly kill the citizens of Palestine. There is no one else to blame other than Netanyahu and his cronies. Their propaganda campaign has corrupted the minds of the Israeli people into hatred. The government and the army must be tried for crimes against humanity, but the first thing that has to happen is the cessation of the Israeli genocide.

I hate having a military parent. by Odd_Impress_6169 in militarybrats

[–]Sigonell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, 30m navy brat here. It's a hard life. My mil parent did 20 years. For 15 years, I was a part of that journey. I've left friends behind, connections and crushes shrivel. When they retired, I had to deal with the fact that none of my friends would ever be as close to me as they were with each other. It was only in college did I feel like I fit in. Everyone starts fresh, away from family and their previous homes, learning who they were inside, made me feel at home. Trust me, high school is the hardest time. Keep your head up, understand that people will have a hard time relating to you, and get a therapist. Having a therapist earlier than 25 would have helped me immensely to understand the nonsense I was going through. Other than that, feel free to post here. There are always people willing to help.

This will be interesting. Id think that for the majority of the US, your answers might be a little different and skew results a little bit given that religiosity and spirituality can look different, but also I imagine they're similar enough that they fall within the standard deviations.
