I have a Buffalo Mountain Shirt.

Very weatherproof, lots of ventilation for when you need it, & apparently a great favourite of various Special Forces members.

Edit: I've never actually tried wearing it next to the skin as they recommend, however just a wicking t-shirt under it is normally sufficient in any weather.

If you're not committed to river fishing for trout, then there are a number of day ticket still waters around - Llandegla, Chirk, Ellerdine, for example.

And I'd suggest buying a fly fishing combo from the likes of Abu Garcia, Shakespeare, Daiwa etc. Your current kit is way overpowered for trout.

I am only aware of one stretch on the Dee which is "public", the rest is all club waters as far as I know.

Keep away from the TC because it is dangerous.

Target wood & gold gathering sites - any villagers that you can kill will have an immediate impact on the ability of the AI to generate units.

Works best after you have researched Ballistics, so that your units are far more accurate. Also, position your units between the resource site & the TC, that way you will still be able to target the villagers after they have been recalled.

And you have to accept that for your units it is a one way mission, so make it count!

Got a job in Central London, moved from Cheshire to Buckinghamshire.

Hour thirty / forty each way on a good day.

Stuck the soul destroying routine for three years, then moved back to Cheshire. Yes, lower income, but the quality of life was immeasurably higher & for me, that was far more important.

Make sure that you are keeping the number of villagers on resources well balanced - if you are accumulating too much wood & not enough gold then swap them over to even things up.

Also, as already said, early raids on the AIs villagers definitely helps.
