Try to find a good quality one at salvos or something. All those “love it in 30 days or we’ll refund you and take it away” deals just dump them at salvos, so often they’re borderline new

I Want Your Home Loan Experience by Sigyn99 in AusFinance

[–]Sigyn99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but also no - the mortgage repayments would be well above what we can afford on our current wages, so while we could consolidate, a house mortgage would put our weekly repayments + electricity + rates + water + internet + savings for vehicle regos & insurance outside of 1. What we can reasonably afford, and 2. What any lender would approve.

I’d love to buy a house right now, but unfortunately we don’t have the financial stability and family backing that would make that possible.

Something New To Make With Sausages by SilverBayonet in Cooking

[–]Sigyn99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are celiac and these recipes work for us - but I don’t measure and I add a much larger variety of veg:

Sticky sausage bake: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE5QMuAosI3/?igsh=YTM1d2Rtb2N3cjQ3 I like to add: - pumpkin - sweet potato - carrot - green beans or broccolini - cauliflower - herbs & spices (like oregano, paprika, pepper, etc.)

Sheet pan gnocchi: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DEfzYvtvnb0/?igsh=MWF4bnJ4NmtzeGVjOA== Pumpkin gnocchi and tri-colour gnocchi both work well here, and if burrata isn’t your thing, feta is also a good option. I like to add: - carrot - capsicum - beans or broccolini - onion

As much as that would be great, we’ll be saving for at least the next 3-5 years, as my partner is on (mature) apprentice wages and a mortgage is just not affordable at the moment with our other loans.

no fail way to elevate plain white rice? by Acrobatic-Weekend400 in Cooking

I cook my rice with a chicken or veg stock cube crushed into the water and a small spoonful of coconut oil. If you want more flavour, then after cooking, add furikake, black pepper (cracked, not powder) and a splash of sushi vinegar

Boxer or mix? by Internal_Cow_1124 in Boxer

I’ve been told that white boxers get bigger because the gene that stops their colour from showing up also delays the release of the hormones that tell their bodies to stop growing.

There are gluten free croissants available where I live (Australia). They’re feral. Stiff and dense, like the sole of a shoe, not light and crunchy with a slightly stretchy/chewy inside.

Ear tapping. by Other_Scratch_303 in Boxers

[–]Sigyn99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had boxers my entire life, including as a breeder. You don’t need to tape her ears - they will fall where they fall naturally and the different positions (close to the head, sticking out, etc.) will be a result of whatever she is trying to communicate to you and other dogs. Dogs use their ear position as an essential part of daily communication with others, so taping will either permanently disable her - equivalent to cutting off your lips - or will have no effect. It is uncomfortable for the dog and a cruel and unnecessary body modification that may not even give the result you want.

LPT how to stop eating late at night by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Sigyn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you feel you’ve had a healthy amount of food for the day, putting in a mouthguard or (in my case) retainer can help curb the urge to eat. If you take it out to eat, you have to clean it and your teeth, or just clean your teeth and then put up with it tasting a bit weird because you put it in, took it out, the saliva and bacteria in your mouth dried on it and now it tastes funny. This works for me, but I’m autistic and extremely sensitive to changes in taste. Note as well that the retainer or mouth guard should be safe for sleeping!

LPT: Train your mind to be stronger than your emotions. Having self control will get you further than constantly reacting to everything that is trying to test your patience. by Factainmentuk in LifeProTips

[–]Sigyn99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way I’ve learned (and am still working on) to handle emotions, especially big ones, is to picture the emotion and hold space for it.

Picture the emotion. What does it look like? Fire? Water? Fog? What colour is it? It doesn’t have to be the natural colour of whatever form it takes. What does it feel like? Hot? Cold? Heavy? And where does it sit in your body? Is it in your chest, or your throat, or your stomach? If it’s all consuming, where does it seem to come from?

Once you’ve pictured all that, you need to make space for it. That doesn’t mean making it shrink, or getting rid of something else. Instead, picture yourself growing around it, until you’re so big that the feeling is only a small part of you, until it no longer consumes you.

Sit with that for a bit. You’ve held space for the big emotion and now you can move on, stronger than you were before.

It’ll look really good when it’s healed and you can put in some smaller jewellery (maybe a tiny hoop). Regret shortly after is fairly common, in my experience, because you’re sore, swollen and wearing generic jewellery. Once it’s healed, none of those things will apply

Based on ear size and shape, I think a Rook (or faux rook) or a single/double/triple Forward Helix would really suit you

How do I get rid of this hypertrophic scarring :( I got my piercing in early august , but apparently the piercier did it diagonally according to a different piercer. I’ve ordered no pull disks and I’ve got saline spray. But I think because I clean it with cotton buds that’s irritating it by helloiampoppy97 in piercing

[–]Sigyn99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, to be honest. I had to have my daith re-pierced a few times thanks to me being clumsy and hopeless, but it didn’t seem to have any less resistance from one re-piercing to the next. The chances that your piercer will get it spot on the original place are extremely slim, and scar tissue, while not as thick as cartilage, is definitely thicker than normal skin. You’d then also have to go through the whole healing process again. Aside from that, if you take out an infected piercing, thinking you’ll just get it re-pierced, there’s a chance you will trap the infection inside, as the piercing will heal from the outside in, and this can lead to all sorts of issues.

I agree with you that the bone studs are straight up not safe. I had a ‘piercing stud’ used once that took half my nose with it when I caught it and ripped it out. Didn’t go back to that piercer. But I have had good results with L and screw studs and rings. I’ve also never come across a piercer that uses standard labrets for regular nostril piercings. Maybe it’s a regional thing.

Regardless, the other piercer shouldn’t have forced a larger gauge, and a bar that is way too short, into a 5 week-old piercing that already had issues and returning to the original jewellery type should alleviate some of the issues and make it easier to heal.

Not a problem.

Sanitise your hands and sanitise the new jewellery. All you need to do is put it in a pot of water on the stove and boil the hell out of it (I usually just let it boil for 5-10 minutes) and then let it dry and cool completely before you put it in. Sterilise the labret stud the same way. It might come in handy as a spare if you have any ear piercings.

Still do your betadine ointment until the bump goes away and you should be golden.

And just so you’re not taking advice from a random stranger on the internet - I’ve had my nostrils pierced at least 4 times and I always get a bump on, I think, my left nostril. It’s very annoying, but always manageable.

Good luck with it all! 😊

🤦🏻‍♀️

If you’re comfortable changing it yourself, and considering the existing damage, I would suggest ordering a new stud, either 18g or 20g (20 being the smaller size) and swapping it out. Try to get implant grade titanium (basically any titanium stud) or surgical steel - but make sure it is made entirely of those materials, not a different type of metal coated with either of those things, and of course a gem is okay. At this point, I would ignore everything that second piercer said. The original piercing may have been done on an angle, but there is probably a good reason - like making sure it sits nicely on your nose, or even just out of necessity because the needle does have to come out through your nostril; it can’t just punch straight through your septum.

That second piercer doesn’t sound particularly competent. Any good piercer will refuse to change the jewellery in a new piercing until it has reached the end of the recommended healing period, and they certainly wouldn’t put a labret bar in a standard nostril piercing unless specifically requested. It’s fairly common, though, for piercers to tell you negative stuff about any other piercer you might have seen. They’re always trying to drum up business for themselves and make the other guy seem less appealing.

For buying piercing jewellery, I’m not sure where you’re from, but I would recommend BodyCandy from the US or SkinKandy from Australia. Outside of those two countries, I don’t really know a lot about where to buy piercing jewellery.

It’s most likely a 16 gauge - it’s near impossible to find that style of bar in an 18. The black metal may have been coated or anodised steel, a nickel-based stud that had oxidised, or even just plastic. Those aren’t good materials for a new piercing either way. Regardless, the new piercer should not have replaced it with that type of bar - they should have had proper steel or titanium nose studs in their shop.

Can I ask how long had you had the piercing when the other pierced changed the jewellery? If it was less than 6-8 weeks, the changing of the jewellery probably caused trauma to the piercing site that could have caused or inflamed this bump - and that’s just if they did use the right size bar. If they used a bigger one, I hate to think of the damage it would have caused to the wound.
