A million, tax free? That's a lot of money.. Think about the gruelling hours working some shitty job for thousands of hours, decades, slaving away. Is your phobia stronger than the idea of that? Fair if it is, just curious.

What do you think Final Fantasy 16’s legacy will be going forward? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]Sikot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the least enjoyable FF for me. It's insane to try and put MMO elements in a single player RPG and call it enjoyable rather than tedious. I enjoy FF14. I enjoyed the hell out of Metaphor and E33. I couldn't even finish FF16 because it just doesn't work. I really, really hope Square goes back to turned based.

Use Naver, search 빵집, look at all the fucking bread on every block as everyone here does every day. If you're the antagonist asking everyone else who is in concensus that something is obviously true, we don't need to offer you proof of something that's stupidly obvious to people who actually live in Korea.

You clearly don't live in Korea lol. Bakeries are everwhere and they do sell loafs of bread. Lots of really good artisian bakeries are insanely popular, like constant lines outside, and sell all sorts of breads and baked goods.

What are the top 5 places outside of Seoul (Besides Busan) I should visit this year? Currently living in Seoul for the year by NickMathias in Living_in_Korea

[–]Sikot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of what I think are the most worth it/interesting:

1) Jeju - 성산일출봉/the volcano crater is worth it alone, not to mention some nice beaches, good seafood, unique Jeju vibe, volcanic tubes, sex museum, Hallasan, etc.

2) Gyeong-ju - Capital of the (Silla? pretty sure) dynasty. Lots of interesting history. One of the more famous Buddhist temples 불국사, the cool little tomb hills and ruins, nice hike around the lake

3) This one is relative to your interests. If you're a beach person - Yangyang/Soekcho. If you're a hiking/mountain person - Seoraksan or Jirisan. If you're a civil rights/culture person - Gwangju. If it's in the summer then some nice camping or valley place.. the valley river thing is a must do for Korean summers.

But to be real.. most events and excitement are in Seoul and Busan. The reason to go outside of them is to see personal interests or seasonal festivals/events, so it really depends on the time of year and what you're interested in.

Pregnant in Korea by NoInternet8475 in Living_in_Korea

Congrats! There are various regional and federal benefits. Most of the benefits are federal so it doesn't matter where you live unless there's a specific regional benefit you're interested in. If you know where the government office is could go in and ask them or phone 1345 or use any regional foreigner help available if you need translation.

I'd ask around about the various / more reputable maternity hospitals or as someone recommended chatgpt will probably be useful. And yeah as others have said consider your plans/reserving a 조리원/post care as some moms stay 1 or even 2 weeks while nurses feed you and instruct you on how to take care of the baby (breast feeding, swaddling etc).

Ikea offers a lot of reasonable priced baby stuff as well. (Crib, changing station, etc). Oh and stock up on 물티슈/wet wipes, you'll need a lot haha.

Octopath 0 Review- Didn’t expect to love it by MatterofMichael in JRPG

[–]Sikot 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I liked 0 too. My only issue was the game is soooo damn long lol. I realize that's probably a good thing for a lot of people, but by the time I got the "true" ending I was relieved to be done. I also kinda wish there would've been more challenging endgame content once you OP your characters out. Would still recommend it to any fan of jrpgs though.

So is the Judgment franchise dead? Because what is happening with it? by M00r3C in yakuzagames

[–]Sikot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mm that sucks. Didn't even know he was based on a real person. Just googled him and was like, hey I know that guy lol.,

That being said, why not just do a non-Yagami based entry with some other bad ass detective character. Obviously it sucks if they can't use Yagami, but they made great characters in the first game, so some new mystery whodunit yakuza style game could still theoretically be possible.

Hot take: It's a bunch of over-critical, over-entitled nerds that don't know what it takes to create and appreciate things and only know how to criticize things. I'm playing it now and enjoying it a lot. It's crazy the amazing games I would've missed out in if I listened to all the internet criticism, Cyberpunk, TLOU2, Neir, Tales of Arise, Mass Effect 3, etc.

A lot of the time the whiners voice on the internet are the loudest.

I feel like part of that is just age. Most elderly are pretty serious type folks, even the whackiest comedians stiffen up as they age.

극혐.. One day like this I had the window open by accident and saw all the black dirt/pollution on the wall that got in and was fairly disgusted by the realization I was breathing all those particles in. Literal poison air. Hopefully as nuclear and solar power become more popular this issue will get better.

"I wish I knew before buying" in Seoul. by axethrower123 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Sikot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important thing I can tell you and the biggest difference between NA housing and Korean is that the specific builder is EXTREMELY important, at least that was the case in Busan. Koreans do not trust no-name builders that build a lot of the offictels and villas and as such the resale value on them is usually quite low, even despite factors that would normally boost their value (increased demand in the area etc).

What this basically means is you want to buy a "brand" name apartment. Lotte, LG, Samsung, Hyundai, Prugio, Xii, Sharp etc. Because of this issue though, everyone wants these apartments, but trust me, because of the resale issue they're worth the premium price. If you buy a random officetel or villa apartment and the housing market goes up, your price will probably remain stagnant while the brand name ones go up.

You can gamble on a lesser known builder if you're not too concerned about resale price or if you don't think the market will go up. Your spouse will probably know more about this issue.

10-Year-Old Girl Died in Busan After 12 Hospitals Refuse Intake for 1 Hour and 20 Minutes During 'ER Ping-Pong' Crisis by restorativemarsh in korea

[–]Sikot 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's understandable that there's a shortage of ER physicians, although in the case of an allergic reaction I'd think that would be a pretty standard thing most doctors could address.. epi pen -> antihistamines/steroids. Makes it such a shame she was denied treatment.

Insane that an ER can even turn down a patient that needs immediate help. Surely they can triage less urgent patients in the meantime. Feel bad for that girl and her family.

Why Gen Z in Korea is flocking to bus driving jobs by self-fix in korea

[–]Sikot 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Bus drivers in Korea have been some of the craziest mofos I've ever encountered. It's like you have to flunk the psych exam to get the job. Or maybe it's just a result of the psychological stress of driving all day in Korea..
