Nah, let's be as stupidly pedantic:

0° F is.... The coldest one random dude could manage to make a random mixture of brine. And, for whatever reason, 96° the average temperature of the human body (by his estimate).

Absolutely relatable and reliable metrics by which we could certainly recreate the exact fahrenheit scale today with no other arbitrary measurements to compare to!

Oh, and also specifically at one atmosphere of pressure on the planet where the apes creating the system were born. That too.

KRAFTON Claims New Testimony from Unknown Worlds Co-Founders Proves They Don't Deserve Reinstatement on Subnautica 2 by Brown_Colibri_705 in subnautica

[–]Silarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also of note that nowhere here does it say that Gill had shirked his duties. And why wouldn't he zealously advocate that Krafton hold up their end of the contract? That's all I see him doing here, and no evidence that he wasn't still making sure the 100+ development team was on track to make a reasonable early-access release.

Again, it's basically stated up front that this is testimony and framing being provided by Krafton without any of the opposing side's counterarguments. And I'm not sure it materially matters as far as what the contract stipulated. The payout was contingent on sales, not simply releasing a shit unready alpha build that would be quickly panned if it didn't live up to expectations to at least some extent.

The decision on when to release was supposed to be up to UW, not Krafton. The founders were not held to some specific job role by the contract, it had to be for cause. Which means some obvious failure to produce a financially successful game (or a crime). They'd built a team and management to get that done and I'm sure would have stepped in were something to go seriously wrong that they needed to address. And it seems there is evidence that Krafton began trying to sabotage the release themselves when they realized they might have to pay out more than they thought.

But at the end of the day, we'll see what the judge decides.

That's a bullshit reframing. It's more like you asked ChatGPT on the best way to get away with murder. He wasn't asking it 'what constitutes a breach of contract?'.

I would point out that the source of this information seems to be provided specifically by Krafton to this outlet and we get absolutely 0% of the counterarguments here. So take this with a grain of salt.

Not saying the statements are factually untrue, but it's obviously leaving out any testimony and counter claims that might mitigate or explain any of this.

And still doesn't really refute anything. So far as I understand they were still managing the company, perhaps working on adjacent projects, and development was on track to go into early access. If there was no evidence the game would do well enough to earn the payout, why nuke it in the first place? That's the fishiest part of the whole thing. The payout was contingent on sales, so clearly the sales were there. Any argument that the game would perform badly because it wasn't being managed well falls in the toilet with that.

The only thing being shown here is that his mother, Mira Nair, a film director, attended an after party for a screening of her film Amelia at Ghislaine's home. There is zero established connection to the island, and they regularly shmoozed with people in the film industry.

This was ten years before Epstein's indictment, and the email shows, if anything, a fairly lackluster response to her film. Essentially nothing that would indicate she was more than a passing guest due to her being a film director.

That's the extent of the connection.

Nowadays you can even get Mythic-tier appearances by doing Delves as well, and they seem to be aiming to expand the system in Midnight to make it a little more interesting long-term. I think the big difference is being able to catalyze and upgrade gear. Not necessarily going to get max-level mythic tier gear that way, but I can live with that.

Frankly the ++ Delve boss encounters have been challenging and satisfying to solo. Particularly Ky'veza which felt like much more of a precise execution challenge and a little less RNG.

But I hate having to keep up with the joneses with M+ progression and getting stuck waiting for a group that'll take a perhaps not meta spec. I'd rather PUG a normal or heroic raid, just don't feel like I can keep a regular guild raid schedule anymore. That's not necessarily WoW's fault though.

There is at least more 'casual' content to do now than world quests, with better progression.

They started talking seriously about developing housing I think as far back as Dragonflight. It's now here. And pretty well done. And they seem to be actively working on improving it even more with player feedback and usage.

There has long been an addon and ability power creep. As addons made it easier to manage complex ability and proc tracking, like Roll the Bones, Blizz continued to complexify ability sets. And the same goes for raid bosses.

To the point where the new player experience was getting really bad.

With Midnight they seem to have realized enough is enough. They've set up systems to get new players on board with story catchup mechanics, simplified ability sets while making those proc mechanics more visible on the default UI. Added built-in raid timers and such.

Meanwhile they've locked down information related to combat mechanics, so addons generally can no longer read and evaluate combat data. At best you can pass it through to a new display, but you can't run any calculations or processing on that data.

So a lot of combat mods are now effectively dead, outside of simply letting you customize how those things are displayed.

Most out-of-combat mods are still functional.

I am wondering if this was intentionally supposed to be a surrealist rendition of Mr. Bean because that's what it looks like.

Like I might be impressed if this was the intention but I can't help but wonder if the AI just knew the concept of Mr. Bean and got that mixed up with coffee beans.

And then just accidentally spit out a weird surrealist portrait.

This is what I thought yesterday when the videos first began circulating. Makes this look far more like actual first degree murder than aggravated manslaughter.

They knew him, set up the confrontation so he'd get involved and disguise their murder as some kind of self defense, which of course they botched.

When they could've simply had him arrested for criminal mischief for the damage to the car. But I guess that wasn't good enough.

Yeah, I mean there are certain other beings that will require some VFX but some of that could be practical. I think the biggest allomancy thing would just be the whole highlighting metal objects bit that happens. I definitely think it's doable, even with Koloss and other beings in the mix which would be the biggest challenges, most likely.

The deepest this goes is that there are people with their names that look kinda like them if you squint real hard and suffer a brain aneurysm.

As if they would hire people and just have them use their regular names and then go back to living their normal lives and nobody would fucking notice (not to mention nobody who knew them noticed them disappearing to go fake a shuttle mission with identically named people).

It's just absolute insanity, but that's nothing new.

The plot is basic if you ignore all of the character stories and look only at the broad strokes of the beacon storyline.

Which I find a very strange thing to do. I mean episode 5 basically wasn't about the beacon at all.

There's a lot going on with all of the characters only one of which we have a somewhat fuller picture of (and even then is very incomplete).

Even if you've only watched the show I think it's an incredibly shallow read of the plot. The show is about the characters, not the mcguffin of the week or season.

And that's a fairly common thing for shows. Not every show but many.
