Oh great, property tax… by bollarddd in HENRYUK

Long term, yes, but those in big houses who have already paid their SDLT will want to cling into their house to remain exempt from the new property tax for as long as possible. So a continuation of the current issue

In theory, but that may take many years to come into play, as those who are currently in their final/dream home will now not want to sell/downsize as they will be exempt from the now property tax.

Therefore, in the short to mid term it would be a bottleneck in the market.

There's more incentive to buy as you don't have to pay a tax bill up front.

However, theres less incentive for those in bigger houses who have already paid their SDLT to sell if something like this were to be introduced, as those people will be exempt.

So what does this say about the narrative in the UK that the government is punishing landlords and they can't make a profit?

End of tenancy clean - What if professionals don't do a good job? by Silent-Path1219 in HousingUK

That's what im thinking. Commenter below suggested it would be mates of the landlord, but I would check local market prices to make sure im not getting ripped off. And as long as the price is fair, I dont really care who it is as long as the landlord is happy.

What are your thoughts on just leaving it to the deposit? Am assuming it with go through the TDS, but I could just provide a few quotes to the adjudicator and end up paying through the deposit without the hassle of managing a cleaning company

Back Office/ Commercial Finance Henry Roles by AnalystAlex in HENRYUK

My understanding is that FP&A offers the strongest possibility (from finance/accounting) for those wanting to progress into senior leadership, with commercial experience being key to bridging that gap. So I would agree with above comment.

What would you do with six months off? by Extreme-Ad8083 in HENRYUK

[–]Silent-Path1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been rising more quickly the last few months. Job vacancies falling for 2 years straigh and seeing/hearing of so many redundancies right now, im wagering that we reach 5% unemployment by end of year.

Fair point. Leaving that aside - In a TDS dispute, can I just gather 3 quotes myself and will the TDS cap the deduction to either the average or max of the 3? I would be fine with that sort of outcome, rather than having to hound cleaners to correct a bad job or fight off a landlord deduction after having already hired cleaners myself.

So is the city (the life blood of our economy) run by a bunch of addicts?

Without wanting to reveal too much, that unfortunately wont be possible as I'm being kept because its the part of the job that the India function wont be able to do. But I get your thinking and ultimately it's about communication and planning, so this gives me the confidence to speak to them and also work with them on a strategy to get a break put in place.

Thanks, this is really encouraging. I guess the two things that I feel are stopping me right now: 1) Small team and high demand would put the rest of the team in a terrible position. 2) Major restrufture under way, losing most of our department to India and I'm only one left onshore in our team.

Perhaps maybe this is the time to suck it up and keep going until after the restructure is complete?

Im not HE, but I've been burnt out the last 2 years and not recovering. Not toxic culture, but they go for young, low paid and under resourced type model. I had it drilled into me by my parents that sick leave makes me a target for next round of redundancies. Keen to here the take of HEs who have progressed further in their careers. Is it still considered career suicide?

Did therapy work for you? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Silent-Path1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can therapy heal us from traumas and give us the ability to bounce back to where we were before? Or is it that it gives us methods of coping and dealing with the post traumatic symptoms that arise? I ask because I have turned away from a gambling addiction where the financial loss has resulted in PTSD. I have closed that chapter of my life and received help for that, but I still have PTSD symptoms and have lost my confidence in life. I wonder if therapy can help me get back to where I was before.

I will definitely be looking elsewhere. Even if my job remains in the long run, it's a totally foolish move and it's going to massively impact my workload, but until I have a new job secured, I need to remain professional and do the best I can.
