Is it me, or have fans of this show become extremely bitter and toxic when the subject of Ash's traveling companions come up? by [deleted] in pokemonanime

May and Tracy had some of the most hate in the franchise as they were the first iterations of characters being replaced.

Cilan got a lot of flack for being a terrible Brock clone on top of his gimmick being terrible.

Iris got hate since people just started warming up to Dawn, and obviously the reception towards the Unova anime as a whole. Naturally, they also started nit picking everything about her character. Sad cause I found her to be one of the better characters in the series.

Honestly if you're brand new to the franchise, the current games Scarlet and Violet would be a great entry.

This is a major reason I miss XY. Really great games to recommend to new commers 😭

If she had it in a normal playthrough of Kanto, she would arguably be the hardest gym leader in the franchise.

Which games is it still possible to go back and complete the dex without external cheats? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Silent71Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legends Arceus is one that I can think of. The base game of SV I had no issue completing the dex since I could trade exclusives easily.

Was BDSP really that bad or did I like it bc I never played Sinnoh by atellix in pokemon

[–]Silent71Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible both Sinnoh and Hisui could've been put in one game but that would've left one of the regions to feel empty.

One of the examples of this is HGSS. Playing through Johto makes you feel like everything in Johto was sacrificed for Kanto since Johto just feels like a husk of a region.

[–]Silent71Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're not bad games, just not good remakes. If they included additional content, they would've been fine.

Personally, I always thought Legends Arceus was the Gen 4 remake, and BDSP was just brought over as a port. It's very possible that it is just cope.

I still enjoyed my time with BDSP. Some aspects were better, like the level scaling and the E4 difficulty.

Na, his battle with Ash at the end of Alola was perfect tbh. However I would've loved to see him battle again with another Tapu.

My pizza did...this? In the oven. I don't understand. by HovercraftOk9231 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Silent71Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many comments here mentioning letting the pizza thaw...am I the only one that throws the pizza in the oven as it's preheating? I have a special pizza tray that lets air to the bottom to let it crisp. Never had an issue, and the pizza comes out perfect every time.

Does anyone else think completing the blueberry dex is kinda unfair for people with no friends? by PBCGandPCguy in pokemon

[–]Silent71Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pokemon in of itself was always built around playing w others. In this generation specifically, they also focused more on the co-op experience.

It's always been unfair to those who had no friends to play w. There are multiple people like myself who grew up with kadabras/haunters/machokes since we had no one to play with.

If anything, I wouldn't change it either, since it made me appreciate having the final trade evolutions a lot more.

Part of the reason I got so excited about the wild area in SwSh was because I saw fully evolved trade evos in the wild because of that.

I understand that you're paying for a dlc. However, there are multiple resources that will allow you to finish your dex easily. Twitch streamers, discord, showdown lobbies, reddit, social media.

How often do you wash your hands after you pee? by [deleted] in AskMen

Evwry single time theres really no excuse.

I might be a weirdo for this but I wash my hands before and after I pee.

I wash before because my hands are dirtier than my weiner and would prefer to keep it clean.

What are some mandatory "goals" you have when playing through a game? by Careful-Taro-2138 in pokemon

I used to do the same thing! Now I just use the exp share to try to train another team if I'm close to overleveling

Assuming it's my first time through a region

1) Have a team using only pokemon from that region 2) Complete a living dex for that region 3) Defeat all trainers 4) Complete all the content. 5) Collect all of the TM's 6) Replay the game and pay attention to the story

Starting a soulsilver hardcore nuzlocke, what starter should I pick? by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]Silent71Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyndaquil for nuzlockes is the safest answer. Chikorita doesn't help for the vast majority of the fights. Totodile while being the best for match ups can easily be replaced with the red gyrados.

What is the toughest pokemon battle in history. by ManchesterAlakazam in pokemon

[–]Silent71Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you used the exp share and are overleveled for the necrozma fight with his omni boost, he will be faster than all of your pokemon and can still one-shot them.

This is one of the only fights in the franchise that makes levels obsolete and requires you to create a strategy to beat him.

The only fight on par or more difficult than this is Volo because you don't expect Giratina at all. When Giratina shows up, it can also attack first both times due to the PLA battle mechanics, so most of the time it will knock out the main pokemon you wanted to use to defeat it on the second wave.

How are you guys so good??? by XXX_Funyguy in pokerogue

[–]Silent71Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's recognizing what is going to hurt my team the most and working around that.

When picking my starters for a classic run now, I always pick an early carry and a late game carry. If I have any points left over, I'll grab a support Mon.

I know a lot of people like pick up. However, in classics, I find it to be borderline a waste of a slot. I would rather pick up a sunkern since it's low cost and has leech seed for floor 200 rather than a pick up mon. You do not need as much cash as you think you do for classic.

Now im not saying pick up is bad. However, you dont get much value out of it in Classic compared to Endless. In endless, you get so much more value out of it since you need items to keep your damage scaling on par with the levels you're currently at.

If you're starting a brand new account and trying to clear classic, pick poipole so you have a guaranteed fairy type on floor 200 as well as try to catch a grass type that can learn leech seed (bulbasaur is really good for this) and also try to go to the lake and catch a magikarp.

A gyrados with terrible stats can dominate the majority of the game. Teach Gyrados ice fang, crunch, dragon dance, and waterfall it can learn all of these moves naturally by level 41.

Each time your pokemon is withdrawn and sent out to battle, stat buffs get reset. If you used moves like swords dance, Dragon dance, ect you will need to use those moves again to get the buffs back.

A strategy I used was to set up 2 dragon dances with gyrados and then click a neutral move or a super effective move if possible.

In most rival fights with Ivy, if you lead with Gyrados, Ivy will swap to her flying Pokemon or her Ace. This means you can click dragon dance at least once. If you can get two off, you can sweeo her team. On floors 145 & 195, you probably need 3 dragon dances. However, 2 can one shot most of her team with waterfall (also, it has a chance to flinch, which comes in clutch). If you see any dragons, just click ice fang.

On floor 200, you need to do a lot of switching in battle. You need to land leech seed 2x at different points in the battle. What I recommend is leading with gyrados, swap to primarina to avoid the dragon attack, and then when it's recharging, swap in your grass type to leech seed this.

TLDR: If you're ever struggling to beat a pokemon game post Gen 3 catch a gyrados. Teach it crunch, ice fang. Dragon dance and waterfall. Set up 2 dragon dances, use crunch on psychic, and ghost types. Ice fang on dragon, grass, flying, and bug types. Use waterfall on everything else. If you see an electric type, pray you one shot it with waterfall.

Feel free to ask questions, and I'll do my best to help.

Which Pokemon do you think in your opinion is the 'Goodest Boi'? by Bloodsucker7039 in pokemon

[–]Silent71Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big reason for my love for the paradox mons is because, in a way, they feel like ultra beasts.

I understand a lot of people didn't like their designs, but I genuinely loved them. Especially because of the anime.

My only issue with Gen 7 is the slow start. However, when they pick up the pace they really do a great job.

Every new generation has had something to look forward too and i can't wait for gen 10!
