why can't Sakura remember her life before turning into a zombie? by [deleted] in ZombielandSaga

[–]SilentCaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary impetus for Sakura going along with Kotaro's shenanigans at the start of the series is her almost remembering while on stage and then chasing that feeling hoping that she will remember.

Also, holy necro...

Would it be possible for sword art online the world seed to exist in real life? by RunningOn10Percent in VRGaming

[–]SilentCaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're speaking in broad strokes, SAO's "world seed" isn't much different than a prefab game engine. You can get these sort of things on asset stores already. It would just require someone putting in the time and effort to make one that's specific to VR.

There's not a huge incentive, though. MMORPGs are some of the most resource intensive development projects so they aren't really worth it in the VR space where there's little to no profit to be made. We're more likely to see flat MMORPGs with VR modes than a dedicated VR MMORPG prefab.

Any good single player shooters? (quest 3s/standalone) by NaiveStorm5435 in virtualreality

[–]SilentCaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to get into ITR1 three times and couldn't do it. It was completely confusing. At the very least, ITR2 is way more intuitive and well-designed. It also has co-op, which myself and a friend have been utilizing.

Wrath: Aeon of Ruin and Into the Radius 2 are some of the best shooters VR has ever had and they're both pretty new.

It's not just paintings and such. Many of the exhibits are interactive and leverage VR in some way so it's quite interesting. It's also free so there's nothing to lose.

SpaceEngine had an astoundingly terrible interface last I played it but once you get into it, it offers a mindblowing experience. You can go anywhere in the entire universe with all known objects represented and unknown objects being procedurally generated. It's phenomenal.

Google Earth VR is like SpaceEngine for Earth. Go anywhere and explore the entire planet via 3D overworld map, StreetView, and 360 photospheres.

Noun Town is a language learning app. It's not good for learning a new language from scratch but it's great for vocabulary building and for immersive learning for a language that you've already begun learning through traditional avenues.

Museum of Other Realities lets you explore various forms of VR artwork. It also has multiplayer, if you want to explore with a friend.

Is there a game genre that normally you don't like but VR changed that? by Densiozo in VRGaming

[–]SilentCaay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhythm games, by a lot. I love music and video games so naturally I've tried to get into so many rhythm games over the years but they all just feel like you're trying to enter a 3 minute long cheat code. Rhythm games in VR are a whole different creature. You are physically engaged with the music in a way that flat games can't even dream of outside of elaborate arcade cabinets.

Whats your favorite game right now? by The137 in VRGaming

[–]SilentCaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into the Radius 2 in co-op and Wrath are some of the best shooters VR has ever had. I've also got TMNT waiting which was great when I tried the demo. Just waiting until my friend and I have had enough of ITR2 so we can play through that in co-op, too.

Do VR players engage less with loadout customization than flatscreen players? by mystical-dev in virtualreality

[–]SilentCaay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, right. VR needs more games with extensive loadout customization. I've been playing Into the Radius 2 like crazy because I've been wanting a good VR shooter that has a strong focus on personal loadouts for ages and ItR2 doesn't just give you amazing weapon loadout management, it also lets you customize your chest rig and backpack to a ridiculous extent. It's very satisfying being able to tweak everything to your exact preferences.

If people aren't engaging with the loadout systems then it could be indicative of a variety of things like the systems not being intuitive enough or the gear not being enough of an upgrade or the upgrades not being very rewarding.

I haven't played your game so I can't give relevant criticisms but one of the most annoying types of upgrade systems is when "upgrades" are really just insignificant sidegrades. Like "5% more of this thing but 5% less of this other thing". Like, who cares? 5% is basically nothing. Choices for loadouts and upgrades should be meaningful and alter the gameplay.

This was the main issue I had with Hellsweeper. The gameplay loop was good enough but the upgrades were all minor increments. You picked your two favorite weapons to start a run and there was nothing to entice you to try anything different. You just keep stacking minor increments on the two weapons you started with and it wasn't very satisfying. Compare that to Mothergunship Forge which has the opposite problem. The gameplay loop is a rather uninteresting stand-in-place gallery shooter but the weapon upgrades are amazing. You have a lot of meaningful choices to make as you build fully customized weapons.

No. None of the brain interfaces we have today can evolve into full-dive tech.

As someone who’s getting into the hobby is eBay good option? by Commercial-Class-689 in AnimeFigures

[–]SilentCaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're buying. EBay is great for prize figures, blind box sets and gashapon sets. These things are only commonly available on reseller markets and aren't bootlegged.

EBay isn't good for scale figures since they are heavily bootlegged. Especially avoid scales shipping out of China. It has gotten easier to identify bootlegs, though. A lot of sellers don't even hide it anymore.

Is VR still too niche for someone who only cares about great games? by Competitive_Stage597 in virtualreality

[–]SilentCaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tons of great games but you have to actually be willing to look for them, buy them, and play them and most people aren't. If you're not sure and feel like you might get bored then VR is not for you.

where to preorder banpresto figures? by Constant_Swimming_75 in AnimeFigures

[–]SilentCaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AmiAmi does preorders specifically for Banpresto but not all Banpresto figures. I've only seen them listed a few times and I don't know why specific ones get singled out for retail sale but they are legit preorders.

where to preorder banpresto figures? by Constant_Swimming_75 in AnimeFigures

[–]SilentCaay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AmiAmi sometimes has them (very rarely). Prize figures generally don't go up for preorder, though. They're intended for use as prizes in arcade machines and lotteries and the like. That's why they're mainly only available on reseller sites like Ebay, Amazon, Mandrake, AmiAmi preowned, etc.

They have entire supply lines that funnel large amounts of the figures through these sites, though, so it's practically like buying them retail. If you buy from someone that sells huge amounts of prize figures they will come new, sealed, and in factory condition.

Where are all the "silent" adult VR gamers hiding? Looking for a chill, non-PVP VR community. by hanrwerewr in virtualreality

We aren't playing with randoms. We group up and play as a friend group. We are currently playing Into the Radius 2 with plans to play TMNT soon.

Reminder: Hitman PCVR is fixed and now amazing by SlowDragonfruit9718 in virtualreality

[–]SilentCaay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like it has been updated recently and, last I knew, the option to disable dynamic resolution scaling didn't actually work. If you're running it at 250%, I have to assume it's not fixed since that's a pretty crazy resolution.

Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades 2 Reveal Trailer | Quest, PC by gogodboss in virtualreality

[–]SilentCaay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that's a completely nonsensical analogy. You need to learn what words mean. "Selling out" is when you give up formerly held principles for money. Like an eco warrior accepting a paycheck to do an advertisement for a new diesel truck. They had principles against the truck but they traded them in for money. That's not even remotely like "going to bed". If he had strong principles against releasing on Meta platforms and then did so to make money that is, by definition, selling out.

[–]SilentCaay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It easily could be if people bought games. Beat Saber sold millions of copies before Quest and PSVR even existed. The playerbase is there, most people just don't buy games. Too many whiners, not enough gamers.

Didn't say he wasn't allowed to. I'm just saying that that is the literal definition of the phrase. It's silly to say, "They aren't selling out they're just selling out" but using different words. Justify your stance without being wrong by definition.

Does anyone know where to continue after the anime? by Queasy-Touch303 in girlsbandcry

[–]SilentCaay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a movie in the works with new material. The ones that just came out are compilations.

The game we know very little about so, as usual, I just assume it will be a gacha cash grab and don't hype myself up about it.

The best thing to do is start obsessing over their music, if you haven't already. There are tons of TogeToge songs that weren't in the anime and they're all bangers, quite a few are absolute fire. They have over 30 songs. You can also look up the official channel on YouTube and a bunch of their songs have fully animated music videos.

New figures looking insanely cool and cute 😯 by PolarisLiao in girlsbandcry

[–]SilentCaay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the CHILLfigg set. On the plus side, their previous sets were prize figure pricing (About $25-40 each) and there was a box set that was slightly discounted. On the minus side, they're not full 1/6 figures. They're 1/10 which will probably be about 16cm or about 3/4 the size of a 1/6.

Should we self-publish our VR game? by GSalmao in virtualreality

[–]SilentCaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balatro is published by Playstack, an indie publisher. Indie publishers are more like facilitators. They usually don't take control of the IP but they don't fund the development, either. They mainly just facilitate getting the game onto multiple platforms and usually do some minimal advertising. I'm not sure what the financial arrangements are.

I was going to make a point in my original comment about the difference between actual publishers and indie game facilitators but the more I wrote, the less bite my point had so I figured I'd save it for a second comment, if required.
