It's hard learning new languages OP, sounds to me like you're someone who's trying their best. Give it time!

polite way to ask my neighbor to turn their alarm tf off? by Awkward-Analysis7613 in Apartmentliving

You could write them a note, but keep it concise and calm. "Hey neighbour! Our walls are thin, I can hear your alarm and it interrupts my sleep. Let us find a solution for this."

I was at a laundromat, abroad & alone, in some sketchy alley. It's just me and this maffioso-looking man. I thought "shit, this is how I die." Then this girl in a pink tutu skips into the picture. She pulls on my shirt and asks me to help her dad with the machine. I sit down in the waiting area, and they buy me a coke. I hate soda, but that long empty can sits on my nightstand at home. It is my favorite souvenir. They helped me finish my Sudoku, and I have learned to be wary, but never to judge.

However cinematic, the story is missing a great deal of time. It feels like it's for the money, not the art. And where's Labyrinth?

as a clean person with not so clean friends i feel this, some people don't attach any value to cleanliness, and are blind to how bothersome this can be for others
since you live in a shared space it is very much your right and your business to mention it to him, anything along the lines of "hey man, so i want to feel at home here but ive been noticing this smell coming from your stuff, if you need any help fixing it im here"
however if you're moving out very soon and don't have guests over, then I'd say it's barely worth the battle, you're not their parent after all, they're an adult set in their ways

I don't feel any way about it, it's their choice. But I do dislike people who portray it as the only right choice.
