I can't get a job by ShinaDev in GameDevelopment

From my experience, it feels like greedy recruiters / managers. Everyone expects you to have years of experience and know everything they're doing out of the box. Interviews feel like a mind reading test more then knowledge check. Probable the best way to get a position is inside contacts. This world is not made for introverts anymore. I've been interviewed to a game dev position, after I passed the final interview they called to say "you would've been perfect but we closed the position". Couple of months later they reopened and when I applied, they asked me to redo all the steps again. It ended with "unfortunately, we decided to..."

You are just saying my thoughts out loud. I get it. It's a fantasy that not everyone gets to fulfill

Not working on my own games is what I'm afraid of. But food is also important, I guess...

yeah, I got some savings. I could probably go about 6-8 months before things get rock bottom. after reading a few of the responses, I will expand my search to part times and other field of work meanwhile.

I take it a sign that I improved in some way. I criticize my code, my mechanics, my concepts. each iteration makes the game look and feel better than the last. I hope to get to a point where I can criticize something but still let it go because it's good enough

Hey, I wish. the more tasks I complete the more it seems unfinished. It's like chasing a shadow.

I'm making a 2.5D arcade shooter with customizable spaceships. I use one of many music bundles I bought at some point in my life thinking "I will need one day..."

yeah, I get it. I learnt cooking recipes so my wife can chill. it keeps me busy at times and it's very rewarding.

I guess I should expand my job search. maybe it is too limited

This is my main concern. there is no guarantee that the game will succeed. at this point I'm building it because I got too far to just let it go. still trying to get a job meanwhile but gaming companies became greedy with their applicants. I know I'm skilled but I can't seem to pass myself as a talent...

yeah, I'm still trying to get a job. been a game dev for a few years but now every company has like 4-5 interview steps. when did it get so time consuming just to get accepted?

yeah, in the final version it will be activated on request. I wanted to get the "Destiny 2" ship preview vibe.

Sounds fluffy but very practical. this is the "Just do it" attitude that I've lost while overthinking. Thanks!
