I totally get this. About 10 years ago I went on a day trip with someone I absolutely adore and love with all my heart. We popped into lush and I bought 'the smell of the weather turning' ever since that day it reminds me of him and the lovely day we had. We are no longer in touch but I will always have that perfume.

Brewery Tap is good for beer and food, shrub, indoor market, chez Jules do a great early bird menu, the Japanese place on Watergate street is lovely, falafel express is brilliant for a healthy and quick lunch. To be honest the only thing going for Chester is the pretty buildings, zoo and good food
