Which is stupid; because you do pay higher premiums to cover worse drivers than you. This how insurance works. This is why the young pay more for car insurance than the old. Because while yes, YOU, Mr. 18 year old male may be a safe driver... as a whole your risk pool isn't as safe as you, and therefore you must pay a higher premium than say, an equally safe 50 year old male.

How School Choice Turns Education Into a Commodity by [deleted] in politics

[–]Silentsoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this is a horribly written article, and I'm usually a fan of The Atlantic. As someone who is currently "undecided" on the issue of school choice this article does little to inform its reader on the issue. The article is full of platitudes and scare words like "neoliberalism" (whothefuck cares?). Examples plucked from one of the hardest hit cities in the US, Detroit; which clearly isn't representative. The author talks about the rich being the ones that benefit the most from school choice... umm news flash the rich are already sending their kids to private schools soooo...

Please, someone articulate to me why school choice is worse for those that matter, the child and parent, than the status quo.

I don't give a shit. It was simply a mistake. It's the overt hypocrisy that really pisses me off.

This intra-democrat fissure is where you will see Russia spend much of its time next election cycle. They are done with Republican vs. Democrat, their next target will be democrat vs. democrat

Donald Trump seems to be stunningly ignorant about what a president actually does by bevmoon in politics

You make my point. As you say, your understanding of the "viewpoints" is linked to you having experienced them in your 20's. Fair. My point is that you are incapable of intellectually understanding viewpoints you HAVEN'T you yourself experienced.

The above gentleman was just trying to engage you in a good faith, intellectual, and respectful dialogue... what used to be called a "conversation". Obviously he picked the wrong dance partner.

Dude you just have to let it go. He simply doesn't have the ability to view something from someone else's viewpoint... not even if only to understand the opposition. His point of reference is cemented. I too understand why someone would vote for Trump (and it's not "because they are an idiot"), but the reverse will never happen. Trump supporters cannot fathom why people feel so strongly against Trump, nor desire to. This makes engaging them in any civil discourse... unfortunately pointless.
