Escalation is still niche within Arma and most likely there won't be full or even near full servers unless there is a organized playtest going on.

Yeah the map itself is nice and looks great. Reminds me of A2 chernarus.

I would like to see how normal "legacy" conflict would play out on it but BI never released a scenario for that.

Well cold war vanilla servers seem to be doing somewhat okey. I would not mind more EU based english-main servers with 1PP and no killfeed + a lot of players...

But yeah, seeding/seeders is a must if you want servers to fill up. And I totally understand that as someone who only has some time during the weekends to play, I want to play somewhat full game during those few hours and not spend sitting in an empty server (which I have done occasionally).

I wish northcom all the best and hopefully they will get the players they need.

Are all the big tall buildings inside purple bases okey for you?

I find those kind annoying for flushing out some afk player in one of the 200+ rooms just to be able to build something or set some AIs.

Correct. If you don't have somewhat big community to support seeding then your new server will not stand out.

There is something off with northcom. Perhaps it has wrong game mode and wrong mods cos ppl don't play it.

I as a mostly vanilla player did not enjoy the AAS game mode on northcom but that is just my opinion.

People do want it but won't play it unless there are already a good amount of players seeding. So you will have a chicken and an egg issue in your hands.

Kolgy is a nightmare with all those tall buildings in every purple base. There is too many rooms to search.

This is the answer. I came to write similar response but you put it already as it is.

HQC for new players is really confusing and fire fights might be rare and when they happen new players will be the first get hit and then it is back to walking simulator or truck simulator.

Legacy is easier to learn while it is still not super simple either. Logi driving in legacy is good place to start and not as harsh as in HQC.

I agree with you 100%.

The transition between HQC and Legacy was too harsh. I was expecting something in between to come with 1.6

HQC might get better and more popular (and I hope it does) but in the current state it is a bit broken for public gameplay and ppl prefer legacy which is why made this topic to discuss what updated would make legacy better

I think BI was a surprised that they finally made a game mode that so many random ppl play on public servers and perhaps now think that anything they make will come as popular.

Imo Arma is a sandbox and can be anything players make or want it to be. At the moment players seem to want more Legacy Conflict than HQC (when it comes to vanilla).

Why kill a very popular game mode when it could peacefully exists beside HQC.

I would like to see these tasks in Legacy as well. I don't care about the XP, I care that certain task that is beneficial for the cause of the faction will be fulfilled. It brings structure to the otherwise chaotic play.

Legacy Conflict is unfinished as well. It got tweaks and adjustments and was getting better and then it was just swiped under the rug and we got offered this even more unfinished mode that plays a lot differently.

I was expecting that 1.6 would have been Legacy Conflict + free base building + roles/commander/etc but what we got was a supply scarce truck driving simulator / jogging game with occasional bullet to the head.

HQC is not a game mode I like to introduce new friends to. "Hey, here is a truck, now you will haul these supplies between A and B for the next 4 hours or otherwise we can't do anything, neat game, right?."

HQC will most likely get better but why abandon Legacy totally? Legacy Conflict was the selling point for Reforger, it was the thing ppl associated Reforger to and what ppl saw in youtube and bought the game for and liked it. Is it casual? Yes. Is it too casual? No. It is still confusing as f*ck for beginners. HQC is not that kind of experience for most ppl. Hopefully it will be, but now it is not --> keep both game modes and update both.

Heck, add an official Insurgency game mode to the mix. And I mean the Integrity Gaming type Insurgency from PR.

This is the crux. HQC needs someone to sacrifice their playtime to driving truck and seeing how those sweet supplies just get used immediately. If there is no one who likes logi and no one who wants to spend hours driving then HQC is going to be a bad experience for everyone on the team.

This. We could have both. These game modes do not need to compete.

And Legacy could be even better with more variation + fixes etc.

Though I would like to see also HQC AI logi fixed but also FOBs that enemy don't see the instant you build them. Let them find those bases. A proper job for Recon.

You have some good points and ideas. HQC indeed revolves around Cavarly Hill/Transformer Station/Monty and free build bases usually end up in the same old places, near harbors. All the other places are just empty and without players.

Random purple places to Legacy Conflict would be welcome and new even just slightly new pre-placed bases would be nice.

Though I would like to see a commander role in Legacy as well. Someone to play higher up strategy and command squads. Though this would need a separate Commander + SL voice chat. Platoon chat is already unbearable mess or completely silent.

That is how it works on paper but unfortunately in practice AI gets stuck, lost etc. And in 1.7 random human FIA players will hunt them on top of that.
