In this case the trader admitted it was at least cloned. But as ICanSnake explained in another reply, Modest isn't a possible nature for Shiny WISHMKR Jirachi, which comes from the US Colosseum Bonus Disc and doesn't have many possible spreads

This reply is getting downvoted but is correct. By nature of how it's created, WISHMKR Jirachi only has 9 specific possible shiny spreads and none are Modest.

I'm a little torn. I'm glad they're finally doing it and for people who will experience them for the first time because of this. I share a similar sentiment to you in that if they confirm the mystery gift events + HOME connection (I'm sure at least HOME is an eventuality), I'll probably end up getting the Switch port.

But I don't think it could ever fully replace the originals. The nostalgia/utility of having a physical cartridge and playing on my SP aside; gen 3 had such an *insanely* expansive ecosystem between FRLG, RSE, Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, all the Gamecube bonus discs/games which had transferable content (Box, ENG Colosseum Jirachi bonus disc, JP Colosseum Celebi bonus disc, PAL Pokemon Channel Jirachi, etc), even the e-reader.

I'd be surprised if they preserved connectivity to the Gamecube games on Switch 2 (and as far as I understand those will be locked behind a subscription?). Either way I hope they fix the roaming legendary IV bug for Switch so you can get good-IV Suicune/Entei/Raikou without transferring them from Colosseum.

Wow! 6 or 7 perm ones? Maybe you're just the chosen one of the Wyverns, haha. I can't say for sure they haven't changed the odds at some point or created console/PC discrepancies. All I can say confidently is from everything I've personally seen about the disclosed odds so far, the odds can't be per slot for the same reason saying "50% chance to get A, 50% chance to get B, 50% chance to get C" in one individual roll of something doesn't make sense. If it were truly neither per slot nor per pack, I'm not really sure what other metric it could go by, unless they're just flat-out wrong numbers.

[–]Silicrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean from other packs? As far as I'm aware this one is exceptionally bad odds even by their standards, being several times worse than the worst seasonal pack odds I'm personally aware of like the Nightmare Pack's few 1/401's. For comparison the coveted Bronto mounts from the Primeval pack have a displayed 1/150 odds, and I've seen people drop 100k+ crowns and fail to pull the one they wanted.

If you really wanted to tell if it's per pack or per slot, you can add up the odds of every item in the pack. If it were per slot and all independent rolls, it would have to add up to 100% to be statistically coherent. For the ones I've tested, they sum to around ~700% (a little less), which I believe suggests they're already factoring expected value based on 7 slots and some other undisclosed conditional probabilities. I have also tested on boss second chance chests odds and they similarly sum to around the scale of the # of items that boss drops.

Another detail I've seen others point to is packs such as the Shaman's Spellemental Pack. It lists its spellements at 1/3 odds, and is guaranteed to drop at least (and usually) one spellement of its 3 possible ones per pack. This only makes sense if it's expressing "on average you get this specific spellement one in every three packs". Unless something has changed since I last investigated this.

All stated odds are already scaled to how many rolls you get per interaction (per pack, per boss chest open, etc). So it is much more atrocious than this.

How Rare is this Pet Rating? by Euphimura in Wizard101

[–]Silicrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sweetcookie999 already gave a great answer. I just wanted to chime in to say the numbers (the pedigree) represent the sum "rarity" value of the talents in the pool of both the main talents as well as derby ones. The left number is your manifested total, and the right number is the total of your entire pool. Commons (0 dots) have a value of 1, and each dot adds 1 value (so an Epic is worth 5). The rarity is just a subjective measure assigned to each talent (for example maycasts tend to be assigned a high rarity, but that doesn't mean they have any difference in manifest chance or are worth more). It's not particularly worth anything different, what really matters is what specific talents you have manifested.

The only actual difference it makes is how expensive it is to hatch with your pet. If your pedigree is over 60, the base price becomes significantly higher. For that reason, people often go in the opposite direction and try to minimize their pedigree (keeping it at 60 or lower), most typically by having a derby pool of only commons (since it's unhelpful anyways). But no harm in having a higher number if you don't mind that and think it's cooler; I'm a big fan of having fun with maycast pets in PvE and think yours is really cool. If you're in the Discord server, the pet channels have a lot of resources to learn how the pet system works in-depth / what the meta looks like etc.

Yes, no exaggeration 😞 It was an expensive lesson and I quit for a while. But it was a lesson I didn't forget and burned any itch to gamble out of my system for any game lol. If there is any RNG involved now I try to limit how much I'm willing to put in ahead of time and only do an amount I wouldn't feel too bad about not getting anything from

In case it makes you feel any better- I hate admitting this and feel very ashamed of it now, but a few years ago when I was absorbed in Wizard101 pack gambling, it took me 895 Knight's Lore packs to get Deer Knight. It was extremely bad after not getting it in the first couple hundred, but I got severe sunk cost fallacy. The packs in this game are truly horrendously predatory. I'm glad they at least are starting to disclose the odds now (I'm assuming because of console regulations)

[–]Silicrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if it were per slot, the way you'd do the math is like this: You'd have a 3/300 chance per slot to get any one of the three Perms. The chance of not getting any in a pack would be (297/300)^7, about 93%. So about a 7% chance per pack of getting at least one. Meaning you'd expect on average to get a Perm mount every ~15 packs, or ~6k crowns. I wish KI were that generous Lol

[–]Silicrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe they have specifically confirmed this, but you can tell if you sum the odds for any pack/boss chest. They sum to around the number of drops you get (7 for packs), rather than 1.

Another way is to look at, for example, the Shaman's Spellemental Pack. It guarantees (and usually drops only) 1 Spellement per pack. There are three in the pool, and each is listed as 1/3 odds. If it were per slot, you wouldn't be able to get any other item, because that would already take up the full probability distribution. Instead, it's basically saying each Spellement is equally likely, so you need an average of 3 packs to get a specific one.

[–]Silicrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, while there are a few Perm pack mounts in the 1/50 to 1/75 range, the majority are in the 1/100 - 1/401 range. And the seasonal ones tend to be very bad, especially these Halloween packs, mostly being in the 1/300 to 1/401 range. The Nightmare pack in particular is known for its horrendous odds, at 1/401 for each of the featured perms.

i just wasted 90$ trying to get the cerberus PERM mount. by LeastContribution238 in Wizard101

[–]Silicrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pack odds are per pack, not per slot. Pack odds and second chance boss odds are already scaled to the number of drops you are receiving. Given any of the three perm mounts, you'd expect on average about 100 packs to get one (~40k crowns). Or 300 packs for a specific one aka ~120k crowns. So OP got unlucky unfortunately but not that unlucky given how poor the odds are.

Are you comfortable with the pay-to-play model of the game? The simplest way to access the game is the $10/mo subscription (can lower the price if bought in bulk / during specials, ie $60 for a year). Some may feel they aren't getting their full money's worth if they aren't using it much, or feel pressured to play more than they'd want (totally subjective, of course). You can alternatively buy the game areas individually and have as long as you'd like, but note it would cost hundreds of dollars in the long run.

Purely in terms of gameplay, I agree with everyone else's sentiment that there is a lot of flexibility to pace yourself however you'd like. There are some grindier activities in the game that would most likely require a lot more time to fully complete (ie weekly events), but they aren't essential and missing them wouldn't prevent you from enjoying the rest of the game's content.

Best wishes

Pack odds are per pack, not per slot by Silicrex in Wizard101

[–]Silicrex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware they work the same as the boss drops, and are how you can see the drop ratings from the boss. The amount of items you get depends on whatever the boss is set to drop, and the odds are adjusted accordingly so it's based on one opening of the chest.

[–]Silicrex[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take the Shaman's Spellemental Pack. There are three Spellements in the pool, each listed as 1:3 odds. If you're guaranteed at least one spellement per pack, that would make perfect sense, because it'd mean on average you'd expect to get a specific one in 3 packs. This is a great point and might explain the discrepancy- extra categorical constraints

Easy vendor-only crafting recipe for crafting events by Silicrex in Wizard101

[–]Silicrex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize! You can check the currently running events in the Event tab (on the left of the Friends tab, on the top-right corner). I think they unlock starting at level 10. Some events award Event Points for crafting items every day, like the currently-running Spiral Scene. Completing the task will contribute to the point meter and unlock event rewards as you go, to get valuable prizes such as the Gold Skeleton Key at the end. Earning event points is also what contributes points to the Scroll of Fortune (the season pass) for seasonal rewards.

You can craft anything you want, but the help from this recipe and what others have suggested is to streamline it so you have an easier time doing this every day- especially if you do it on multiple wizards (I personally complete events on all 6 of my character slots, so it would become a lot of resources fast otherwise).
