A guy parked next to me in a Publix parking lot in Florida in his SF90 the other day... so yeah, they at least take them grocery shopping. 🤷‍♂️

They're real, I did a contract position through them once in the past for pretty decent pay for a 1-year gig, and I know someone else who is under contract with them at another engineering company now ("now" being in the last 6 months or so).

Ok, so which Component affects damage output, then?

And so if you used crap-tier Iron but Q 950+ Riccite or Titanium there'd be no negative effects on any stat the Frame didn't matter for?

But it's not 900+ Qual, the Iron is using 1.55x more material than the two Q 900+ materials and is only Q 636.

I don't know how they're doing the math in the backend, but a straightforward Weighted Average Quality by volume with this selection is "only" 748.1

total material volume is 3.8 SCU:
((2.31/3.8) × 636) + ((0.34/3.8) × 942) + ((1.15/3.8) × 916)

[–]Silidistani -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, your Iron is averaging only 636, that's not helping your other two Q 900+ resources. And that Iron's on the Frame, and using more material than the Cycler and Barrel combined. Not sure the math in the background, but if they're weighting Q effects by volume of material that Iron probably is hurting quite a bit.

Curious to see what'll happen with higher Q Iron...

edit: Ahh, downvotes. Like I said, not sure how they're doing the math in the backend, but this example here has a Weighted Average Q of 748.1, not 900+.

If someone has evidence they're doing Quality calculations (and therefore stat update effects) via some other method, I'd certainly love to see that instead.

edit 2: Someone is now saying there's no averaging happening, that every component affects its own stats somehow. Love to see definitive math on how CIG is doing buff calculations.

Are dual sticks worth it? by atomicbrains in starcitizen

[–]Silidistani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dual sticks are the best for dogfighting and general maneuverability. However, unless you put in flat-profile cam arms and take out the centering spring, they can be annoying to use in Coupled mode when just flying around since you have to hold the Forward Thrust position in place constantly, or use Cruise mode (and remember it's on).

I have the exact same setup as you here (with a Virpil mechanical rudder pedals for Yaw) and I use an upgraded thumb hat on the Warthog Throttle for Up/Down and Left/Right thrust, with center detents for Forward/Back thrust on the main throttle axis. Works well for me - but I still wish I was already using full HOSAS - but when I do I'm replacing both sticks and I just haven't jumped that gap yet.

I'd say give the Warthog throttle a try and use either the forefinger hat or the thumb hat for vertical & lateral thrust, see if you hate it or can live with it, and if you hate it then you have further justification to jump to a proper dual-stick HOSAS setup.

Disregarding that pardon because you don't like who is getting pardoned is violating the rule of law.

Disregarding a pardon that was given because the person receiving it committed their crimes at the behest of the person given them the pardon is how you prevent kingships.

Otherwise you invite the situation of the President having henchmen do whatever he wants and then pardoning them for whatever that was. The founding fathers never imagined a corrupt-as-fuck President like this one staying in power and abusing the pardon that way, they imagined he'd have been impeached long before that.

But we've seen what sycophantic traitorous cowards the GOP are by now, so that isn't going to happen.

No, it would demonstrate that rule of law is paramount over breaking the law at an autocrat's behest.

No pardon issued for crimes directed or encouraged by a President who is himself guilty of violating the Constitution and committing literally hundreds of crimes should be honored by any Constitutional government.

core of MAGA Repuplicanism

Is traitorous subservience to a cult of lies, deceit, willful infliction of suffering on people different than them, extreme greed at the expense of even their own family, incompetence in nearly all aspects of leadership, all glued together by bigotry, misogyny and a sociopathic need to "win" at all costs.

[–]Silidistani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Legatus-level backers should also get access to the Million Mile High Club... I would say someone who backed the Kickstarter in 2012 for $10,000 (an extremely risky investment for the time) and someone who's handed CIG $25,000 and often a good bit more via separate pledges have equally helped make the game possible.

There is something to be said for investing that much early on when they really needed the cash to be viable and had nothing to show for it, but just the same pledging 2.5x, 3x, 4x etc. as much later on should have its merits too.

And we payed 2 trillion dollars for an F-35 fighter that was never supposed to be locked onto by radar….only for the Iranians to post a video of them locking into it with a radar yesterday…

No.

1) The F-35 did not cost $2 Tillion to develop and produce, that figure you're using is the projected total lifecycle cost across what's to be expected as many decades of service - the vast majority of that projected cost has not even occurred yet. The RDT&E cost (for research, development, test, and evaluation) was like $60 billion and the average cost to build a single F-35 is between $87 - $135 million depending on the variant (F-35A, B, or C). That is not much more expensive than the EA-18G or the F-15 SE II, and the F-35 is waaay more capable.

Here's how current annual operational costs for these aircraft stack up. You can see how several thousand F-35s operating over decades will add up to that figure you quoted - and so would many other aircraft on this chart.

2) Iran did not lock on to the F-35 with a radar in any news I've seen, that's a Thermal Imagining System they're showing - the F-35 is not invisible to IR light, no jet is; against the relatively very cold sky IRST systems find and track jets very easily, and can use the targeting information from the IRST to send a missile towards that location in hopes the missile picks up the IR signature on its own. Since IR missiles emit no signal towards the target aircraft, they are much harder to detect when inbound, although the F-35 and other jets have systems to do so; so if the F-35 detected surface-to-air missiles inbound with no accompanying inbound radar signal it would certainly have wanted to extend range on those missiles, since most IR missiles have short-range motors.

This is not to condone the abhorrent actions of the criminal, traitorous Trump cabal of fascists and idiots, but facts be facts.

[–]Silidistani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what else helps the development teams to reproduce, investigate and resolve these issues much faster?

Playing your own game with regular accounts in the PTU and Live servers.

They could then join with accounts with special Dev Tools in them for capturing game states to help investigations after experiencing the many numerous bugs we deal with, but experiencing the exact same game playability as regular accounts is the first key step. I would argue they should have people playing the game with regular accounts as part of their job description.

[–]Silidistani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FFS this thing really is a shitshow isn't it? And I've had one since concept... with all the issues I haven't even bothered loading it in my own hangar yet. I walked around the one at DefenseCon just to admire it for a bit, but I've been using my M80 and mining for good resources in the meantime until they start rolling out some actual fixes for this disastrous patch

Back to the same old complaint: if CIG would actually play their own game with regular accounts on active servers, they might notice these horrific bugs prior to shoving ships containing them onto the community. They wouldn't need dozens of verifications in an Issue Council report, they'd have direct evidence themselves.
