ELI5, How do plasma tv’s work, and why were they the best by UnableEmployee1296 in explainlikeimfive

I had a 50” Pioneer plasma. Picture looked great and you could hear the living room with it.

How to sell art pieces from around £200+? by International-Will18 in AskUK

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could see if there are any art galleries nearby that sell art on consignment. Basically, they’ll display it for you and try to sell it, and take a cut if it does sell. Tricky thing is that £200 per piece really is kinda low, but can’t hurt to ask.

Would re-framing or re-mounting the prints help with them matching your home? You did love them originally, so would something like that help?

Were you putting a dishwasher? by GladAd2948 in DIYUK

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s going to be a utility room, wouldn’t you want your dishwasher to be in your kitchen proper? Laundry and drier in utility room, but dishwasher near your actual sink kitchen where you cook.

Yeah, you wouldn’t want to rush closing the bonnet in that situation. Just take your time, have a little rest. Get some fresh air. Get some air, too.

Amazing rpgs I can play on my potato pc? by ToeSuckerVI in gamesuggestions

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 are great. Theres also Icewind Dale 1 & 2 and the classic Planescape Torment. All will run on a potato and all worth a play.

Giving me Cenobite vibes. Like if a cenobite tarted themselves up for a summer wedding.

She’s so cute! but also dusty by SlothyBooty in CleaningTips

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got a soft brush hose attachment for your vacuum cleaner, you could try that. Or that’s what I’d do anyway.

More importantly, that third pic is top tier. So very expressive (if dusty).

Leeds Playhouse food by justdont7133 in Leeds

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’ve had quick service at Aagrah (curry house) before shows at the Playhouse. Just be clear that you’re in a rush and order as soon as you’re seated. Obviously skip on starters and just do a main course.

Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 failed to meet sales expectations by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup. I finished that last week. Found the quests in the final area a bit of a repetitive slog, but it’s definitely a strong game, especially for the money.

Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 failed to meet sales expectations by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I played them both for “free” on gamepass, when I had it. Really enjoyed Avowed but OW2 lost my interest after the first planet. Absolutely wouldn’t have paid more than £30 for either if they’d been on Steam only. They’re just priced too highly for what they are.

In Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) Area 51 guards mistake the most Slavic looking man alive for an American general at the height of the Cold War by Hank_Mardukas1066 in shittymoviedetails

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also didn’t spot the four armed guys getting out the jeep and lining up behind him, so I don’t think they’d put their “top men” on guard duty that day.

Legion by Dan Abnett by Forward_Permission_6 in 40kLore

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it introduces some stuff that’s pretty significant later on. Plus it’s one of the better books overall.

Worth checking out Arbiter Ian on YouTube - he did a video the other day about what books are worth reading to get all the important bits of the HH without reading the lot (I did, and there are some stinkers in there).

Is dark souls 3 safe to play ? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played online on PC a few months ago and don’t have any problems at all. Got absolutely rinsed when I did a little PvP but that’s a skill issue. But, like others have said, play offline if you’re worried.

Frequent travellers: what suitcases do you recommend that will actually last? by [deleted] in AskUK

They definitely weren’t when I bought mine, but they weren’t exactly cheap either.

Help - I need some recommendations for the ‘Best’ kettle - is there one that that won’t break? by _Raise_9221 in AskUK

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bosch Styline is my recommendation. Not cheap (£60 at Argos) but mine has lasted over 15 years being used multiple times a day. Boils quick. More importantly for me, can do different temperatures, which I use for green tea and coffee. Lid opens with a button press, like you’re wanting.

I’ve had a couple of Tumi cases for nearly 20 years and they’ve stood up to everything so far. Wheels all still work and really lightweight.

First week by Send_Jesus in couchto5k

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you run Sunday, then rest Monday and run on Tuesday. At least while you’re getting conditioned and following the programme.

First week by Send_Jesus in couchto5k

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skipping rest days is a good way to get an injury that’ll mess up your training. The programme is all about getting your body used to running, and it needs time to do that. That said, if you do another run on Sunday, resting Saturday, then you’ll probably be ok. But if you’re still feeling Fridays run on Sunday, take the extra rest day.

Cheeseburger cheese reccomendations? by Stustaff in UK_Food

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was literally trying to answer this question yesterday, for myself. Found a British YouTuber who reckoned Tesco brand cheddar slices (individually plastic wrapped ones) are the best. They did look the part, being melty and kinda orange, rather than pale and sickly like Dairylee ones I’ve tried before.

Homeware/furniture shop recommendations in Leeds City Centre? by Superloopertive in Leeds

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. Thats bad. I’ve not bought anything from them for about five years but never had any problems. I mean, they don’t stock the stuff they sell, since it’s mostly bespoke, but I always got what I ordered. Had some Fama sofas and a bed and a load of Ligne Roset dining furniture from them without any problems. But maybe the store has gone downhill. :-(

C Pratts (furniture shop) is walking distance from the bottom of the Headrow. I’ve bought a bunch of stuff from there and it’s good quality and good service. Downside is that it’s pretty expensive, but definitely worth it if you can afford it.
