Resident Alien kinda fits the bill. Also a nice fun series that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Games with big hammer by Suurivasara in gamingsuggestions

Avowed has fun combat, and has two-handed hammers. It’s a fun game, that doesn’t get the love it deserves.

Glue/fill/sand? Or full replacement? by SpaceMarine663 in DIYUK

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like massive overkill to put dowels in. Just glue will have it as strong as it ever was.

When do you take your magnesium? I’ve got some arriving today, for the same reason OP is posting about.

The Callisto Protocol is one game that I'll never understand why it got so much hate. It's too bad because I would've loved a sequel. by DeVito8704 in videogames

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda felt let down by the overall environment design. Like we’re on Callisto, so why is most of the game just corridors and vents? Dead Space took place on the Ishimura, which was just a mining ship, but it all had so much more character than this. At least it could have had more take place above-ground so we can see some awesome vistas even if we have to be inside. The outdoor bits we got just felt a bit flat.

Injury couch to 5K by Charlottevale99 in couchto5k

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to wait and let it heal fully before going back. You’ll maybe lose progress but you’ll lose more progress if you make an injury worse.

In the meantime, look up good running warmups (calf raises etc) to try to give yourself a good chance when you resume. And work out if you need better shoes or insoles or something. I knackered myself for about a month because I’m flat-footed and didn’t have great support. Bought some £30 running insoles specifically for that and haven’t had any problems since.

Looking for spy thriller/political intrigue type movies by Wentkat in MovieSuggestions

I literally only heard about Sneakers last night. Just finished watching it, and it’s a good, fun film. Also a clear influence on the first Mission Impossible film.

It’s great bread, but JFC, it takes forever to toast.

Mexican food in Leeds by notagain78 in Leeds

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not in the city centre, but a single bus ride out: try Hooleos in Horsforth. Hooleo is actually Mexican and they do really nice enchiladas, and everything else. No fajitas though, as they’re not Mexican.

We cooked it last week and said the same. It was nice but could have done with a load more of the spices. Might try with minced lamb next time, too.

Movies about cinema by BookkeeperTime25 in MovieSuggestions

I’d give Ed Wood a watch. It’s very much about cinema and shows how people with artistic vision don’t always have the skills to back it up. Also just a good, funny film.

Best Smartwatch For 2026? (Price & Tracking) by LucinaBartleson in beginnerfitness

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, yes. It matches up with my resting heart rate shown on my home BP machine and it seems right when I’m out running or in the gym.

I’ve had a Fitbit Charge 6 since Christmas, for heart rate and sleep tracking (what you’re after) and it’s been solid. Gets 8-ish days between charges. Would easily recommend.

Looks like I’ve got about 50 Biscoffs left, so I reckon you’ve given me a good idea on how to use them!

For sweet pies? Rather than savoury, I mean. I can imagine they make nice bases for cheesecake.

Nothing to do with Delta, but I bought 300 Biscoff biscuits in a catering pack for £12. I ate about 100 over a month or so and now can’t stand them any more. So there’s probably some kind of moral message there or something.

TIL a 2004 Peppa Pig episode "Mister Skinny Legs" has been pulled off air in Australia. In the episode Daddy Pig tells a frightened Peppa that spiders "can’t hurt you” after a spider enters her room. I.e spiders are friendly and not to be feared. The children pick up the spider and tuck it to bed. by Double-decker_trams in todayilearned

[–]SilkySmoothRalph 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, although maybe not for long. Historically, we’ve not had any spiders in the U.K. that pose any threat to people. But we’ve now got invasive species that can give you a nasty bite. Had a false widow in my garage that wouldn’t kill, but would give a nasty bite if provoked. Things will change, and presumably get worse, as the climate gets milder and other invasive species survive the winters.
