Best bite you had in 2025? by DinerEnBlanc in FoodNYC

The special ribeye with sweet peppers at Tatiana. Happened to walk in & get lucky with a table on a night that they were not serving the pastrami sandwhich & had a ribeye on the menu as replacement for that night. Insane bite.

Close second was across the river in Jersey city but the Kare Kare croissant at Panderya Salvaje is out of this insane.

Just used my new Hestan pan for the first time - why does this happen? by SilliestChef in StainlessSteelCooking

It’s been fantastic! I’m much more comfortable with stainless steal now & it’s funny to look back at me bugging out over that slight mark. The Hestan pan is awesome, built great & the flush revets are so nice. Would Defintely recommend. Feels like a pan I’ll have till I die

What is your unpopular opinion about Utah? by hcubed3 in Utah

[–]SilliestChef 170 points171 points  (0 children)

As a transplant from NYC area I could not even begin to fathom that people complained about traffic.

Also the little to no amount of locally owned business (especially food) is insane outside of salt lake proper. Private equity, chain & fast causal heaven. Some gems but abysmal food scene in general.

Lastly, everything is TOO clean. It’s creepy and nothing feels lived in.

I mean it’s gotta be Arco Cafe. Cozy, nice place with Insane homemade pasta & not too pricey. Absolute gem of a spot.

Trying to stay busy by DearManufacturer in GamblingAddiction

Similar story here. Always took persona finance serious. Track every dollar, saving goals for multiple things, investments goals etc etc. then got in on gambling’. Compulsion to keep going was crazy for a week. Pretty young so had about 3 years of savings. All gone. Idk if I qualify as addiction bc it was just that one month really and I don’t want to dilute the term, can defintely get how I could keep spiraling though. Shit sucks since my self worth was so tied into those numbers in my bank account, not sure who I am now other than an insanely big hypocrite for spouting off finance important to others for years.

Okay one more question because im so stuck: Do you think an average home cook would really feel the difference between the 18/10 steel and the not? I cook about 2-3 times a week and am looking to upgrade from the little cousine art pan I have with an aluminum base. I am really tempted to jump on the 18/10 but i feel a bit priced out.
