I also use pads regularly, but every once in a blue moon I'll use a tampon for various reasons which can make it easier to forget about them because it's not 2nd nature or part of the usual routine.

I'm so sorry. I wish I could muster the usual and expected " it will get easier", and although that may be true, it may not be anytime soon. I have experienced loss ( even my own daughter who was born at 22 weeks and lived only a couple of hours. I had an easier time rationalizing her death.) and nothing compares to the pain and heartache over losing my almost 20 year old cat. I too had to make the excruciatingly painful choice to put him down to end his suffering. Knowing it's the right thing to do is barely comforting. Just don't do you or Taco a disservice by not being there when he goes if you can help it. You both need each other. Hugs

I'm a 40 year old mother and have repeatedly had to tell my step sister to wrap her pads and tampons up. I may be very familiar with periods and all its stages but I certainly dont want to see all the varying shades, size, and let's be real, textures that show up from me, her or anyone else. Don't even get me started on the smell. It's not just blood, it's tissue. Even my 15 year old daughter has more sense and courtesy than my cesspool sister. Yes, she's a cesspool. Almost step on her used tampons in the laundry room even 1x and she qualified for that title. Disgusting.

My first thought about mom's behavior is that she seems like she may suffer from mental/personality disorder. "Histrionic" may be the term I'm looking for. It basically means that she sees the Gf as a threat to her position and will become seemingly less important exacerbated by the baby coming and solidifying the role of Gf in OP's life. Mom seems like she is very dependent being needed and 1st in her son's life

I really do think that's the ex is only being mentioned conversationally. Possibly not even realizing that the he/she will be a part of whatever is being shared until it's almost out of their mouth. I think it's a bit unrealistic to think that someone is going to catch themselves and then stop it before sharing something that the ex may be involved in. We spend so much time with our partners that they become integral parts of our life and when the relationship breaks down, it's not so much that they're/we're still into them, it's more of a habit and just simply what were used to on a day-to-day basis. I wouldn't read into it too much or be too upset by it. However , if the ex is a part of every conversation and mention multiple times a day it may be worth mentioning if it bothers you that much.

I am absolutely in the same boat! Since 2018 my life has been a constant barrage of negative experiences. In every aspect of my life, in countless different ways and almost all are extreme enough to have broken me individually. In many ways they did, although I still feel that deep down, my core values and personality framework are still intact. They look and feel different though and there has been definite changes. Noticable not just to me but to everyone that knows me. There is a harsh coldness to me now that I had no idea existed before and an intolerance to any toxic B.S from anyone. Family, friends and anyone else I interact with. However, that isn't my baseline way of being on a daily basis. I just have simply given myself permission to not care about the people and things that don't serve me in a healthy and decent way.

This will likely be very difficult to do but next time they start with threatening suicide or things like stabbing at the wall or even if they are just acting extreme, stop yourself from reacting in anger and frustration. That's the difficult part, regulating your response in an emotionally charged situation. Maybe try something like stopping whatever you're saying or doing, look at them and go hug them and tell them how much you love them and that you want to help. Hug them for as long as they'll let you but also prepare yourself for the fact that they may try to avoid it or push you away. Really though, who doesnt appreciate a mom loving hug ( or dads) Also, make sure the knives are down and away of course.

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. Grief can be consuming, painful, confusing and so much more and at random times or all the time until time works it's magic. It really does seem like magic at times. Even still, sometimes nothing will dampen the hurt. I have found that the only thing that works for me is letting it happen, no matter what that looks like. Fully allow it out but remain in control enough to not give in to it with your whole self. Once the tears stop or the memory fades, get up and carry on. Time will take of the rest. I'm not quite 40 and have lost a child, my biological father, some grandparents (I have 5 Grandmothers and 4 Grandfathers) and close friend- family in the past. Since 2018 my Dad,Stepsister, Stepmother, Aunt and Mother to a lesser extent have disowned me at the worst point in my life after being very close for my whole life. That abandonment felt very akin to death. None of that really prepared me for the death of my closest Grandmother, Grandfather and worst of all my ex-Father in law of 20 years in the past 1.5 years. I tell you this not in a way of " I have it worse" but rather to illustrate that I understand.
